sir are you confirming that the heat is normal? Cos as I type and use the tab now, it gets hot on the screen surface and not the back or rear. It is the heat that makes the phone to hang and require rebooting.

Samething happened to someone else

used an mcard today. It still doesnt heat up unneccesarily. It only gets warm after heavy usage. Will still do some tests.

Dats why ur tablet is not getting hot. Try inserting a mcard and play games or browse heavily. It will get hot.

i dont have one here. Will check that out, but my friend who got the f1 is using an mcard but hasn't complained of heat on heavy use.

probably. Cause mine didnt heat up after hours of usage. Only problem i had was that issue and that tiny dot on my screen. Upgraded it also to stop that gravity sensor problem.

Use a needle or pin to reset it if that happens again..
The reset hole is used for clearing such issues..

Finally got the tab yesterday. Am impressed with the performance. But not the battery. I would post some screen shots later. The screen aint that ok (that is if you are used to other higher stuff). The memory is divided into about 2.something gb for apps and 2.something gb for files. Played game for about 2 hour 30 minutes and the stuff didn't hang or got hot. Played games, chatted and browsed (played games more) from 2:17 till 5:30pm, battery dropped from 100% to 47%. After everything, the tablet hung and was just showing innjoo red animation. It would off and on, off and on, repeatedly. I left it for 2 hours, then came back and saw battery at 1%. @dndroid, should i return it or is it a minor problem ?. The camera is manageable (its ok). Multitasking is on it is sweet. I have dropped it (mistakely, from a chair), e no break.

Note: to those that intend to buy f1 instead of t1, no try am oh. No talk say i no warn you.

got an etisalat line to try out their
unlimited browsing. The result is unimpressive.
Out of 6gig of downloads only 2 downloads completed N1k later.
Circa 700mb .
Not worth it. The last recharge (N400) didnt last two hours as it shud. Connection dissapeared 1hr after. Meaning d download is data capped afterall!

The download speed was pathetic, in d afternoon.


I'm stickg with trusty mtn even if its more expensive.

Etisalat do collect my money unnecessarily when i browse stop browse stop. But if am just downloading straight i do get a 2.5gb file in an hour, that's on average. I haven't noticed any issue of data capping and i have downloaded about 10gb-25gb (don't know the actual value) without spending more than 5k (maybe 2.5k). Probably there is an issue on your side. But etisalat do give some stupid issues sometimes, but when i weigh it, the benefits outnumbers the disadvantages.

The 1k difference for an extra sim(etisalat) and modem mayb too much hassle.

I say 5k cuz i factor in downloads and updates.
For basic browsing its enuff N2.5k/might do.

On the electricity thing- a standby reliable solution is gonna b needed eventually.
Mayb combined with stored power (deep cycle batteries).
The outlay for solar and so on - electricity generation can easily approach/exceed N100k.
For som1 needing steady 10hrs+ electricity a day - solar N batteries maynt b enuff.
As for books, ebooks+ ereaders(tablets etc) mayb d trend
But most professional devs buy books.
It's simply more convenient to get the l8st version.
Introductory books abound online - jquery, javascript,python, css,xml,sql,php,c#,c++

Books on deeper aspects like :
introduction to data mining,
cryptography,
software architecture
,number theory etc
,theory of computation

As long as you don't want to power a complete house, you might neva near 100k. If you need to stay up for a whole day and during the night get more panels and get a bigger battery (connect in series or parallel). With a 200 watt panel and 200ah battery, beta inveter and charge controller you are good to go. There is plenty of sun in Nigeria and even if rain fall for a whole day, you will be able to get some power from the panels.

I cracked my modem, so no need to get a new one for etisalat. I have downloaded numerous videos, software and misc files (unity 3d, crisis 2, photoshop, mit ocw videos, alot of complete youtube channels, upgrade os, etc, khanacademy videos, etc) which are more than 20gb and i guess i have not spent up to 3k with this method. You should try it, etisalat dial *229*5*7#.

I have physical books on programming, i prefer them most of the time. They make reading for me faster and more healthy (eyes). But we do not buy them every day, do we ?. So, it isn't really a major expense.

I agree with you on all the listed items. But most are not a necessity, when starting out. You got to endure for some time.

Those items too are a one time thing, only maintenance needed in their 1 year to infinity life span.

Some of my tools are free. I agree with getting paid stuff (not the torrent way).

I don't use solar, just have some knowledge about installation. I saw some diy solar laptop charger. I intend to build mine one day, but for now i will rely on my two neighbors and nepa (they do give us semi-steady light most times, GEJ till 2019).

There are even smaller solar units that can charge a laptop. So it can.
