see how she dey flaunt her wealth, how I wish she could study in Nigeria or her Father could help poor people. Students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, have appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to fulfill the promise he made to them on reduction in the fees charged by the management of the university or be ready to lose the February 2015 presidential election. The Student Union President, Mr. Isaac Ibikunle, and the Secretary, Mr. Oludare Bamidele, said this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Monday. The president had held a brief meeting with the student union leaders when he visited the OAU to attend a political meeting organised by some Yoruba leaders on the campus. Ibikunle had told our correspondent that the President promised to act fast on the demands of the students for reduction in the fees charged by the management of the university. He noted that some students from poor background had dropped out of school because of the exorbitant fees being charged by higher institutions. The student stated that crime would continue to be on the increase if education, which is the only sure way to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor, was priced out of the reach of poor students. He said OAU students and the entire students all over the country would work against the president if he fails to fulfill the promise he made to them on the fees and other matters relating to the education sector. http://www.punchng.com/news/oau-students-threaten-to-oppose-jonathans-re-election/ |

Nigeria head coach Stephen Keshi has stated that his priority is to see the country qualify for 2015 Africa Cup of Nations rather than worry about his job as Super Eagles coach. Keshi was surprisingly replaced by Shaibu Amodu after Nigeria defeated Sudan 3-1 in 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Oct. 16 before getting the nod by the Nigeria Football Federation to continue in charge of the African Champions. According to the former Mali and Togo head coach, there is life after managing the Super Eagles should he not be handed a contract at the end of the 2015 Afcon qualifying series. “I don’t think it is proper to say my fate is tied to this job. My concern right now is the game against Congo, and not whether I will still be in charge of this team after the match against Congo or South Africa,” Keshi told journalists on Wednesday. “I think you all need to stop this because my destiny is not tied to Nigeria. I came from somewhere. “It is wrong to say my destiny is tied here because this country is bigger than any individual. If I am not the Super Eagles head coach today, my life will still go on. Also there are other places where I can go if I stopped being the coach of this country,” he continued. “But right now, I have a job to do and that is to ensure that the team qualifies the country for the Nations Cup. God forbid if we don’t qualify what will happen? It will not only affect Stephen Keshi, it will also affect you and every other Nigerian who love this sport. “So I think this is not about Stephen Keshi but about Nigeria. All I want from my countrymen is to pray for the team and not me because I am just one man,” he concluded. Source: http://www.punchng.com/news/my-destiny-not-tied-to-nigeria-says-keshi/ |
