it's no more news that due to the introduction of internet, browsing phones and " cheaper" data, people now stay online as against their offline status few years ago. The presence of phones with good camera has also destroyed the " old " attitude of calling a photographer at anytime you wish to take pictures(you are now the photographer of yourself). With the rise of smartphone, internet then become a hub of all sort of pictures uploaded by all sort of people. I am not against this attitude of uploading pictures but I found some striking attitude among some guys in the area of comments. The 'immature guys" will leave their friends' pictures alone uncommented or not liked to comment on ladies pictures. some of the comments include: "Baby, you look beautiful, can I have your number?" "I love you, you are sweat" "can I make you my baby?" "you are my angel" "I love you, can I marry you?" Do these people think love is made in a day? Even those who know her not use these comments. Must you date anyone you see? Why not you chat with them privately if you do want to date them? maybe I should call that ladies' power. Those who I will call "matured guys" are those who just like or ignore their friends' pictures and be commenting on ladies pictures. some random comments are as follow: "beautiful" "nice pic" can I say they are under the influence of ladies' power cos these two sets of people rarely comments on their friends'(guys) and find it easy to comment on ladies' pic. could this be ladies' power? |
Manchester United are set to complete the free transfer signing of Sami Khedira in the summer, according to The Sun. He's set to leave Real Madrid after a succession of injuries and his inability to win a first team place, with his contract ending in June. Schalke have been linked, but United are prepared to pay the German international's financial demands of £150,000-a-week. Arsenal and Liverpool were interested too, but United are now in the box seat. http://www.90min.com/posts/2063223-premier-league-transfer-rumours-sterling-zlatan-balotelli-gundogan-and-more/2-united-lead-rivals-in-khedira-race?a_aid=35396 |

The violence that has been going on in some parts in ife especially ilode, oke Atan, and OKE Ogbo road (ilupeju area) became fierce as a result of the fact that the person killed in the violence on Saturday was a cultist who lived at ilupeju area along oke Ogbo road. The place is not far to ilode while the killer is said to live around oke atan area. It's learnt that the hunt for the killer of the deceased has further extend this violence in ife. Moreover, the deceased is being buried as am writing this news at his place at ilupeju area, OKE Ogbo. The deceased was killed at gbodo, ile-ife.Shooting has been sporadic in order for the other cult members to pay their "last homage" to the deceased. Also, it was said that the hunt for the killer continued today as violence was recorded around oke atan area. God will help us. pls, stay clear of these places. |

op, you are not alone, I am also addicted to it |
padeolu:they are places in ile-ife too. they are violence prone areas in ife |
the newspaper failed to mention ilode, Oke atan and Oke Ogbo... the violence spread to these abovementioned places. I was still chilling at ilode on Saturday around 6 pm when I heard some sound. I thought someone was chopping firewood before until I heard the sound well and discovered that it's the sound of gunshots.one of the reasons why the violence spread to Sunday was because a cultist was killed on Saturday during the clash according to a source. I didn't even go to church because of this issue. |

"Chimamanda, nice piece but this is not a matter to over-flog. You’re not more Igbo than me and many others saying “let’s move on” “calm down”. Many of us your fans will like to see how you can promote national unity through your writings. You write with too much ethnic fervour for a writer that all Nigerians will like to see as a national ambassador. At the end, what reaction do you expect from your readers in writing this poignant criticism of what you consider to be anti-igbo trend? That we Igbos should hate those of our countrymen from other tribes more, feel oppressed, disliked and hold our heads down like an ostrich or take up cudgels against the Oba of Lagos who showed so much scorn for our tribe? You don’t live amongst us so it’s dangerous to yield to your temptation. If ethnic strife breaks out here, the genocide will be a material for your story telling abroad but some of us here may not be alive to read the story. Nigerians are coming out of those primordial ethnic sentiments you’re promoting. We are focusing on issues of development and the collective progress of all tribes, all tongues, all cultures in Nigeria. Igbos love Yorubas and Yorubas love Igbos. Leave all that story that do not change our lives for the better in any way my sister." My take: I think it's time our literary brilliant minds curbed the method at which they display their 'bookly' prowess and indirectly and unnecessarily cause stares. No one doubt the fact that certain tasks and obligations are expected of them but not withstanding they must apply caution and remind themselves that they have admirers outside their kinsmen. If Nigerians had woken up to this consciousness in a long time, a lot of blameworthy and malicious experiences(mistakes) that we have had in the past would have possibly been averted. With due respect to the memories of the victims of the mistakes that were made in the past, we don't have to live our lives like the killy-loo bird that flies backwards and is more interested in where it had been than where it should go. We should place precedence on moving forward. We have to move above mediocrity, to run for our children to soar. God Bless Nigeria! G. lastpage:I guess u don't stay in Osun, if u do, you won't say that the Gov is not owing any worker.my parents are victims of this nonpayment of salary. |
yoosooph:why can't he use the money he was using to fund his party's campaign in paying the workers? #osunpaytheworkers |

I think a thread had been created before me creating this, let's go there and make them know that Osun must pay the workers' salary by saying #osunpaytheworkers |
He said it was CRIMINAL to leave workers’ salaries unpaid while the governor was FUNDING HIS PARTY'S CAMPAIGN. Jackson-Ojo stated that workers would be encouraged to engage in corrupt practices while traders and artisans might be LURED INTO CRIME if they did not enjoy patronage from civil servants who had not been paid. “Aregbesola should PAY workers. IT IS THEIR RIGHT. He should not allow them to be protesting before paying them. It is unfair. “ A GOVERNOR WHO REFUSES TO PAY IS ENCOURAGING CRIMINALITY AND INSECURITY BECAUSE POVERTY WILL LEAD TO TENSION AND INSECURITY.” "The security expert also said the people of IJESA North Constituency were the WORST HIT because while the governor had refused to carry out any project in the area, the lawmaker representing the area at the House of Representatives, Nathaniel Agunbiade, had also done nothing but diverted the constituency projects and allowance meant for the area to the state government’s purse." "According to him, the lawmaker said all members of the National Assembly from the state donated their constituency project allowance to the state government to carry out some projects but he said Ijesa North Constituency had not benefited anything from the governor and the lawmaker." THE GOVERNOR BLAMED THE ECONOMIC CRISIS IN THE COUNTRY FOR THE IRREGULAR PAYMENT OF WORKERS BUT SAID THAT HE WOULD ADDRESS THE ISSUE VERY SOON. |

A security expert, Mr. Lekan Jackson-Ojo, has said the failure of Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, to pay workers for the last five months could trigger insecurity and other forms of crimes in the state. Jackson-Ojo said this in an interview with our correspondent in Osogbo on Friday. He said it was criminal to leave workers’ salaries unpaid while the governor was FUNDING HIS PARTY'S CAMPAIGN. Workers under the aegis of the Trade Union Congress, led by their chairman, Mr. Olatunji Akinyemi, had staged a protest against alleged unpaid five months salaries on Tuesday. Jackson-Ojo stated that workers would be encouraged to engage in corrupt practices while traders and artisans might be LURED INTO CRIME if they did not enjoy patronage from civil servants who had not been paid. He said, “Governor who has not been able to pay workers five months is busy funding the campaign of candidates of his party who have failed in their first term. “Aregbesola should PAY workers. IT IS THEIR RIGHT. He should not allow them to be protesting before paying them. It is unfair. “ A GOVERNOR WHO REFUSES TO PAY IS ENCOURAGING CRIMINALITY AND INSECURITY BECAUSE POVERTY WILL LEAD TO TENSION AND INSECURITY.” The security expert also said the people of IJESA North Constituency were the WORST HIT because while the governor had refused to carry out any project in the area, the lawmaker representing the area at the House of Representatives, Nathaniel Agunbiade, had also done nothing but diverted the constituency projects and allowance meant for the area to the state government’s purse. According to him, the lawmaker said all members of the National Assembly from the state donated their constituency project allowance to the state government to carry out some projects but he said Ijesa North Constituency had not benefited anything from the governor and the lawmaker. The governor had since appealed to the workers to be calm, while promising that their salaries would be paid very soon. The media aide to the governor, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, said this in a statement made available to our correspondent.
