I'm not sure how many independent women you've met but I think you haven't met enough. Some women are rude, while others are not. I generally cannot speak for the nigerian society so I apologize if this is not what you're referring to. As a young lady, I noticed several things while I was in college but thinking back at it, it also happened to me in high school. I was a member of several clubs and organizations in school. The most common scenario is when i give a suggestion it is not usually accepted but when a David/ John repeats the same I said, he was commended for giving such a brilliant idea. This also continued while I began working. For the people around me to give me credit and appreciate my talent, I had to be more aggressive. The office is a place of survival, not somewhere to be complacent about the little you're given. But then some men can't take the challenge or some of my subordinates doesnt want a woman to give them direction. I am an independent person and when it comes to the office, if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. I also accept criticism of my work, its to make me better. But outside of work we can still be friends. We don't need to be rude to each other. Note: Maybe that's why I'm not married or engaged lol ![]() |

I have to agree with you 50%. This is because before psychology kicks in there is something called society. Society is a social construct that dictates what's acceptable and what's not. As a little child psychology had no effect on me. It's what my family was doing that dictates what I did. As I grew up, I turned what my family did into what I did and justified them. That's when psychology then begins. Anything outside of that, since its foreign the first I do is question it. For example, a study in the US shows the correlation between the political party of parents and their children. Many young adults are either conservative or liberal based on their parent's political preference. Although there were outliers that switched parties. But in all, it starts with the society/ community- which is your family. Misogynist2014: |
My grandmother has a tattoo. The one with multiple lines and her name. She is going to be 86 this year. I guess I'll say I'm yoruba since my family are. She told me they used cashew nuts to draw it back in the days. Although neither of my parents have it lol. I dont want to generalize because that is a fallacy but I will cautiously say there was a point before our generation that tattoo was in with the yorubas Nicklaus: |
I find a lot of these men as being hypocritical. Women should not have tattoo because those that have it are prostitutes/ harlots but when a guy has it is he a man-LovePeddler? Many stated that the society looks down on women like this but aren't we progressing? The way the society use to look down on women that went back to school after having babies.I think it is all about preference. I do not like a man with dreadlocks, not because they are criminals or bad boys but i prefer a clean cut. Someone quoted the bible (lev 19:28) I would like the same person to go one verse up, lev 19:27, it said dont shave your beard. As a man do you shave? I hope you do The bible has a lot of ceremonial commandments in the old testament based on the circumstances at the time. Although I am not saving people should write the whole world on their body as I dont have a tattoo (but I'm hoping to get one when I'm 26 ) But people with tattoos should never be judged as harlots. Also for people that like to judge and also called themselves christians please read Matthew 7:1. |
This is just my opinion based on the immunology classes I've taken. There are three types of immunity: innate, adaptive and passive. I believe the ones people that are mentally challenged and sleeps on the streets have is acquired. When they started out, their body wouldn't be as strong as those out there for longer period. This is because as they get sick, their immune system also becomes stronger. Therefore if the same infection is introduced the second time, memory cells recognizes the antigen and then could combat it easily without any symptom of them getting sick such as fever and inflammations. I don't know if I can simplify this but I think it's all about the immune system. There might be other ways to explain it but that's the one I know of. |
