Politics › There Is Corruption On Your Nose – Again, Obasanjo Fires At Buhari by emeka20091(op): 11:02am On Feb 14, 2018 |
Olusegun Obasanjo, former President has launched another attack at President Muhammadu Buhari over his administration’s handling of the fight against corruption.
In his latest attack, the former President maintained that Buhari has corruption on his nose.
In an interview with Germany’s international broadcasting outlet, Deutsche Welle, Obasanjo said the president’s anti-corruption fight has been polluted by people in his inner circles.
Obasanjo said the president could do better on how he goes about the war on curruption.
He said if he was the president, he “I would make sure people in charge of anti-corruption institutions are people of integrity. There is no point in fighting corruption beyond you and you have corruption on your nose.”
On his newly formed movement, Coalition for Nigeria movement, CNM, the former president said the movement will truly help Nigerians to move away from the old order of politics and into a new age where the interests of the citizens are truly represented.
He said, “It (Coalition for Nigeria) is not an old wine in a new bottle, but a new wine in a new bottle. I will not stand in the way of that movement if it decides to become a party. But in that case, I will withdraw.”
Recall that Obasanjo had on January 23, 2018, in a statement titled, “The Way Out: A Clarion Call for Coalition for Nigeria Movement”, lambasted Buhari over his inability to successfully run the affairs of the county.
In the statement, the former President cautioned Buhari against seeking a second term in 2019. http://dailypost.ng/2018/02/13/corruption-nose-obasanjo-fires-buhari/amp/

Politics › Nigerian Army Stops Medical Outreach In Anambra - Saharareporters by emeka20091(op): 2:00pm On Oct 12, 2017 |
The government of Anambra has announced that the Nigerian Army stopped the medical outreach it is undertaking in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state, following an advice by the state government.
The development was announced in a statement signed by Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Secretary to the State Government (SSG). According to the statement, the exercise sparked strong apprehension among the populace, leading to the withdrawal of students from schools by parents and misconception of the actual motive for the exercise by stakeholders, community leaders, and the general public for whom it was intended.
To avoid further escalation of the situation, the statement disclosed, the governor, Mr. Willie Obiano, advised the Army to immediately halt the exercise until considerable public sensitization is conducted to reassure people of its intentions and benefits.
“The exercise has therefore been put on hold. Parents and guardians are strongly advised to stop withdrawing their wards from schools as the situation has been handled. All schools within the state will remain open as there is no cause for alarm. Community leaders, Presidents-General, and all stakeholders are hereby reassured of the commitment of the governor and the state government to the well-being of Ndi Anambra,” the statement said.
The Anambra State government condemned the misrepresentation of the situation on the social media, which insinuated that the exercise resulted in the spread of diseases and deaths of students, adding that it was made to understand that the exercise is part of Army’s social responsibility.
“The state government categorically refutes the rhetoric and confirms that there is no death of any student anywhere in the state. Mischief makers are warned to desist from spreading falsehood. Anambra remains calm and peaceful,” the government stated http://saharareporters.com/2017/10/11/nigerian-army-stops-medical-outreach-anambra

- The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu is a thorn in the flesh of the Igbo elites
- Kanu has used unconventional means for his group's agitation for the Biafra Republic
- The IPOB leader says his campaign has now woken the Igbo elites from their slumber
IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has said the mode of his group's campaign has woken Igbo eites from their slumber.
Kanu made the comment on Monday, September 4 in Owerri, the Imo state capital, after he met with the Alaigbo Development Foundation (ADF), as part of his consultations towards the realization for Biafra Republic.
According to Vanguard, ADF delegation at the meeting was led by its national president, Professor Uzodinma Nwala, while Kanu led senior officials of IPOB to the parley.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Kanu said: “I told them that I will update them periodically on what we are doing.
“I am glad that the elite are coming on board. We are all elite, including the carpenter and the mechanic by the road side, who have understanding of the times, as long as they can make sense and articulate their viewpoints and channel them towards emancipating our people.
“Elitism is not purely about academics; it has to do with being able to articulate a sense of purpose for a people and pursuing it doggedly.”
He described the meeting as “a family meeting and not for public consumption,”adding that it was very fruitful.
According to him, the outcome of the meeting “will guide us in our efforts towards restoring Biafra.”
Alaigbo Development Foundation is a pan-Igbo organisation composed of some accomplished Igbo professionals, academics and the intelligentsia at home and in the diaspora with interest in Igbo cause. https://www.naiji.ng/3327-biafra-igbo-elites-woken-slumber-nnamdi-kanu.html

chimeee: the country have multiple problems, the only lasting solution will be division, that's the bitter truth many do not to accept, the problem is not just the elite and the masses like some presume that just one of the many problems.the core north enjoys being in control and not willing to stop at anytime soon, it's high time we stop lying to ourselves, let there more than 20 agitations in this country because the problem is more than 20 hmmm! |
Politics › FFK Speaks On Refusal By Senate To Devolve Powers From The Center by emeka20091(op): 11:40am On Jul 27, 2017 |
For those commentators in this forum who have never participated in or understand Nigerian politics but who tend to speak and act as if they are the only ones that are sincere about restructuring I have the following to say.
I hope you have learnt a lesson or two from the fact that during the constitutional review exercise that took place in the last few days the Senate has refused to devolve power from the centre and initiate the process for genuine restructuring in our country.
These are the hard facts, hidden obstacles and bitter realities about the struggle that some of us that are in the field have been facing and complaining about for the last 25 years!
From henceforth let it be clearly understood by all, including those that desire restructuring but who gave never participated in Nigerian politics, that we can never achieve it through the existing constitutional structure or the National Assembly.
This is because the system is rigged and designed to protect and preserve itself and because the core north effectively has a power of veto in the National Assembly which it will always exercise in order to block any form of restructuring. It is this point that people like Nnamdi Kanu and other ethnic nationalist leaders came to appreciate long ago and it explains their "hardline" posture on these issues.
The bottom line is as follows: restructuring will not be given to us freely or on a platter of gold.
It must be taken and if necessary it must be taken by force.
Finally mark this: if it does not eventually come then I say let us cease to be one nation.
I would rather live as a free man in an independent Oduduwa Republic than continue to live and die as a slave in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10155594948347210&id=62188827209
