netmillionaires: Why do you talk that way. Where do I start from? To start with, I am an Edo and not a yoruba. If someone need to hate another, it is the Edoid group of people who need to hate the Igbo with a passion but do we? No! We don't even know who to hate. Is it the federal govt or the Igbos. During the civil war caused by either of these two the binis suffer. Let's not point accusing fingers here. In the name of marching against the federal govt, the Igbos march across our land and turn our land into a war zone; our men and children were killed in pools of blood. Our women had to service their men to save our men who are been killed like goats. It took the intervention of Black Scorpion to stop the massacre at Ore town in Ondo. Igbos just go about other peoples' land killing during the civil war in d name of fighting the FG and forget that it is some tribes that lives in those land they passed through killing and causing havoc. If u want to march on FG in Lagos u will need to pass through Benin, Ondo, Ogun and then lagos. Do you know how many yorubas will die in the process? U failed to think about that and then attack a yoruba man for scheming against you in a bid to stop the blood bath in his own land. Today we have bastards everywhere in Olukwu for no fault of ours. People who can't fend for themselves continue as harlots. when people talk of Edo it is Prostitution and witch. Where do they think the prostitutions starts from. It broke my heart one day when a Igbo friend told me that when I see a lady in Olukwu community, I shouldn't get close with her cos they are all prostitutes. Do I hate him? No! He is my friend! He is Igbo! And he is Adorable. We now bear the taunts of been called prostitutes and cuckold and people think it is funny. Do we continue to hate these people? No! You won't even see me thinking of it cos if we all do we will die with hatred in our hearts. U talk of being marginalized. What should the binis say? The chance of an Igbo been president is still 1/3. It will take 5,000 years for a bini to become a president if we think along ethnic line. Nigeria is not made up of 3 tribes. We have hundreds of tribes in Nigeria. So what is the hope of the other tribes? Are they not nigerian? Don't they deserve a mention in the scheme of things? When people talk about Nigeria only Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba get mentioned. What is more worse than to lose ur identity just in the name of a one Nigeria? It get so funny one day when my friend ask me that when people talk about Nigerian accent, they always mention yoruba, igbo and hausa poor accent. Does it mean that the binis are the only tribe with the best spoken English in Nigeria? I laughed and reply with a big No. I made him to understand that we also have accent and it is other tribe that can notice. Even Americans have accent. A british can tell when an American speak. The reason we don't get mentioned is because we are not among the 3 major tribe. At least the Igbos always get mentioned by name in all things... Other tribes don't even dream of being a Rep let alone president. So plz stop this marginalization talk. Am sorry if you found my post offensive, i was just angry that's all but then you would agree with me that the 3 major tribes in Nigeria are the Ibo, Yoruba and hausa even the catchphrase "wazobia" is testament to that, so shouldn't we be treated likewise as the hausas and yorubas? Why are we treated like a minor tribe? (No disrespect to the other tribes) You said other tribes don't dream of the presidency? What tribe is Jonathan? Ibo? I don't care where the president is from as long as he or she moves the country forward, and that's exactly my problem with the hausas, the North is the most underdeveloped region in Nigeria yet they are always on the front row when it comes to running for posts, if they are that good why don't they put thier region in order? Am sure if the north were like a dubia, Nigerians would be begging a kwankwaso or buhari to lead, but how can you promise to build me a mansion when you live in a hut? It beats me tbh, UNLESS there is something there which they all crave badly? Sorry about what people think of the edo people, more often than not its just for laughs like the Ibo accent thing. |
Politics › Re: Jega's Announcement Of Presidential Election Results 2015: Part 4 by EMEzzy(m): 11:21pm On Mar 31, 2015 |
Xtfield: Its not about hatred. In 1999 Obasanjo became President because of the need to compensate the Yorubas for the annulment of Abiola's election. For him to win, he needed a VP from the North (to get votes). If he had picked an Igbo person, the North would feel grossly marginalised. It will mean two souther candidates. In 2011, power went back to the North and Jonathan from a Southern minority was picked. The rest is history. So there was no deliberate effort to deny the Igbos the Vice-Presidency. However the just concluded election now will make it difficult to have an Igbo President or Vice President too soon. For a long time, it is the Igbos and Hausas aliogning to edge out the Yorubas but this time now the Yorubas realized they cannot win the Presidency or VP slot without aligning with the Hausas. The Igbos should not have allowed themselves to be left out of the alignment. They staked all their all on the incumbent and forgot the weight of Northern votes. So its not about the civil war. Its about playing dynamic politics. The Igbos should have sacrificed Jonathan in the interest of their race. They should have prevailed on Jonathan not to recontest and allow the North to push forward their candidate with an Igbo man as VP. That would have split the votes in the North and gotten block votes form the SS and SE. Must a candidate come from the north? I look forward to the day when both major parties won't have a northerner, let me see if they won't vote or cause problems. Thanks for presenting your argument in a civic manner, we all want the best for the country regardless our differences, I want a country that I'll find better than when I left it, I may not believe in the general but Nigerians have decided and I respect that. |

Xtfield: I do really sympathize with the Igbos but the civil war ended 45 years ago. Isn't it time the Igbos move on and accept that they are Nigerians? As long as the Igbos continue to think like this, it will be difficult for them to find true fulfillment in the Nigerian nation. You're right man, but even you would agree it's difficult to like someone who hates you, Have you asked yourself why an ibo man has not even made vice president never mind president for the major parties since 1999? The civil war has ended on the battle field, but there's a cold war going on since 1999... There's unspoken bad blood between the two tribes. |

netmillionaires: Permit me to say I am an Owan from Edo state and have lots of Igbo friend. The one thing I dislike about the Igbo is taking side because someone is ur kin. That isn't good. We should all remember that we are first and foremost Nigerians with common interest, pains and aspiration. U get light? No! I get light? No! I am experiencing the same suffering as U afterall we are all in Nigeria. You are suffering and I am suffering. We are all suffering. Our aspiration should be to work for the wellbeing of each other. Had it been that U are a beneficiary of that govt it would have been understandable but I dnt see any wisdom in supporting someone just because he's your kin only to start enduring another 4 years of hardship. I will rather vote a Rochas than vote an Igbinedion. When someone makes life unbearable for U kick him out and replace him with another. Either he is Igbo, Yoruba, or an Hausa it doesn't matter. That is one thing I respect about the yorubas. They are always after performance. That's is why they could thumb down Obasanjo for 3rd term and then went ahead to vote a Jonathan against their own Buhari/Tunde Bakare in 2011... This election have come and gone. Let us forget ethnic bigotry and work towards a greater nigeria. We can do it. My utmost respect to the Igbos, Yorubas, Hausas and the other tribes. My pastor said that by the end of this year we shall all say it is well that ends end. And I declare so shall it be for all of you and your entire family You wouldn't be talking this trash if it were your tribe who suffered from the civil war, from an early age the ibos are taught about the havoc the civil war wrecked on us, some of my ancestors died during that war, me grandpa and grandma experienced great hardship relocating to the east after many ibos had been killed in the north, GEJ lost because he neglected the SE so the ibos were torn between voting for a man who has neglected them or voting a northerner(which was never an option worth considering) hence they decided to do neither and sit at home and accept whatever the results may be... If you call the ibos unprogressive for not voting a northerner be ready to say that again in 2019 and for years to come, roosters would grow teeths before ibos vote a northerner en masse and vice versa... I couldn't give 2 pounds I'm labeled a tribalist, the North has more than earned it. |

chivision: Ezekiel 33:6-7 “But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand. So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.” If I be a messenger, here is my message and if I be a watchman, here is my cry.
In 2011, just before the post election crisis completely died down, a vigorous and well funded campaign for 2015 general election was kick-started. And suffix it to say that 2015 scheming by a certain group of people, that have today metamorphosed into what is today called All Progressive Congress (APC), started long ago. Consequently, instead of engaging the new government at all level on good governance, our national dailies were tactically swayed into singing a uniform monotonous chorus of 2015 election.
Obviously, chief among their plots was to dismantle any structure or institution, no matter how important or sacred, that will not further their quest to clinch power by 2015. Unfortunately, the Nigerian Christian community have in countless occasion been targeted by such plots.
Between 2011 and now, our dear country, Nigeria has witnessed numerous political occurrence that has invariably placed Christianity in Nigeria at a very critical and dangerous corner. Today we are at the epicenter of APC propagandium profligacy and yet unfortunately, Nigerian Christian community is the worst hit. He who has ears let him hear. |

Curvinus: Queer people have no sexual feelings for the opposite sex and no form of therapy or repentance can change this naturally endowed phenomenon. Nature is really diverse and this is how it has made them.
There used to be time when Blacks were a minority and were treated to the worst form of indignation because they were seen as less than humans.
women in the not too distant past also faced terrible discrimination which they overcame and are still overcoming in some remote places of this earth.
Now, gays are a minority and are being treated as the scum of the earth. In Russia, they are dragged to the streets, beaten and pissed on. They are being lynched in Uganda and Nigeria has made a law to keep them behind bars.
Please stop the discrimination against gays. They are humans like you and I and have a right to life.
Live and let live. Believe me man im all for tolerance and live and let live, and in no way do i approve of how they are treated but im not for them coming out,i dont give 1 pound about what 2 lads do in a room, but coming out to potray it as good or as the next in thing is simply not right. Besides eunuch as used in that verse refers to men who live without marrying not gays... I get this argument regularly at school and im having none of it,i dont care what they say about me. sadly some of my Nigerian brothers have had thier brains twisted. |
