bigx: 17k in 2012? That's totally unfair if u ask me. I pay minimum of 20k and that's to unskilled staff not someone with your qualifications,
For those saying 17,000 (600 naira a day) would add up to your capital, have they taught of how much more you can "IMPROVE YOUR BUSINESS WITH THE TIME YOU WOULD FREE UP"?
Go in full time, Make your money, and "INVEST/DIVERSIFY", that salary is pure slavery In my opinion

thanks a lot!

@violent, thanks for that piece of advice.
As matter of fact, I have already established my fish farm since last year because i have long foreseen the situation of things. I have built a reasonable customer base. The market is very large to the point of making referrals to other fish farmers when there is no stock and customers are calling for supply. Like i mentioned earlier, i do it on part-time (have been off and on) due to my work schedule. My current plan is to resign and go into the business full-time. Once more, thanks a lot to you guys. Your comments have been a source of strengthening-aids.

Boboyekinni & specy v, thanks 4 ur sincere comments. U guys jst nailed my point. I knew hv been used but i was also patient to gather years of experience in the area of sch planning& administration, whch i think prospective employer must pay for. Now i got what i needed and must take a bolder step to put an end to this if i really desire to move forward wt my career.

@Zi, i apprct ur point of view but i dont think reviewing my appointment as a regular teacher in same sch can solve anything. If i shld do dat, it wud hv a severe effect on my resumé, my salary wil be reduced & i wil stil end up doing same job when d need arise.
@spicy v, ur post shows u've had same experience.
Febuary last year i had one on one talk with the sch proprietress like mother & son on this same issue when i was stil the headteacher for pry section, the reply was she wil think about it. 2months later, my appointment was reviewed as the sch VP with no monetry motivation attached to it. Now d workload is somuch dat i can't bear it any longer than to resign.
I hv not tendered my resignatn letter though.

I am an educationist and a vice principal in a private (nur, pry&high) sch. The sch is based in ogun state while the proprietress is based in the united kingdom. As a matter of fact, the sch headteacher, principal&myself have been the one directing the affairs of the sch. Although being the head both are well paid and get sum cash frm other sources within the sch while am being paid N17,000 per month (teachers' basic salary). Aside taking up most of the duties for the sch principal, i teach Business studies J.s.1-3, Fin. Acct & Office practise S.S1-3.
My major concerns are overlabouring and being underpaid. After most teachers might have left the sch, d sch principal&i usually stay back doing some paper work most esp during resumption/ few weeks to&after exam period.
Jst as i finished writing my resignation letter, i decided to post this and hear your view if my decision is right or wrong. Meanwhile, i have a fish farm which i'm doing on a part-time but now planning to go on full-time. Pls your advice.
