Mateo Kovacic (€29m, 2015). Hazard only needs to look across the Chelsea dressing room for a cautionary tale. Kovacic, the dynamic midfielder who’s keeping Cesc Fabregas, Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek out of the Blues’ best XI, joined Real in 2015 after two successful years with Inter Milan. At first, the Croatian’s versatility earned him sporadic starts in various positions under Rafa Benitez. But when Zinedine Zidane took over and decided not to tinker with the starting line-up, Kovacic was never going to oust Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro from the midfield. (It's been a similar story with his national team too, where he has Modric, Ivan Rakitic and Milan Badelj for competition). Pep’s Man City team differs a lot from his Barcelona side. In Barcelona the attacking phase would be like: 5% Keeper, 10% Center Backs, 20% CDM, 50% Center Midfields and 5% Lionel Messi and 10% Wingers; If you combine CDM with CMs then the ball was always with the Midfield 70% of the time. Well, Messi played as False 9 so, it is actually 75%! But now in Man City, he knows that no one will ever control the game like Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta and Messi, so he retweaked his attacking phase to be: 5% Keeper, 30% Defense, 30% Midfield, 30% Wingers and 5% Forwards. Alexis Sanchez is not suited for Manchester United’s style of play, and he will be kicking himself for having turned down the chance to move to City. But what should Manchester United do with the winger? Alexis Sanchez is struggling with life at Old Trafford. He was involved in a protracted contract saga with the Gunners 12 months ago. The North Londoners eventually agreed a Henrikh Mkhitaryan swap deal with Sanchez’s contract running down. Manchester City had been sniffing around but a deal was done with their arch rivals. Since moving to the Theatre of Dreams, Sanchez has made little impact. Manchester United's negative football doesn't suit Sanchez, and the Chilean forward will be cursing his decision to move to Old Trafford rather than the Etihad Stadium. The Chilean was considered to be quite a coup for the Red Devils when they lured him away from Arsenal during the January transfer window. It had appeared at one stage as though he was destined to end up in Manchester at the Etihad Stadium, but Pep Guardiola was snubbed in favour of joining the red side of Manchester.
