ADDITIONAL OPTION: NORTHERN CALIFORNIA PRIVATE SELLER VEHICLES

Since some members have asked about alternatives to auctions, I want to clarify how private seller vehicles can also be handled.

I am currently based in Northern California, and for vehicles listed by private sellers within this region, it is possible to physically go and view a vehicle before purchase.

The process is straightforward:

The buyer identifies a vehicle listed by a private seller within Northern California and shares the details.

If requested, I can go to the seller’s location to visually inspect the vehicle, confirm basic details, verify VIN, and speak directly with the seller.

I share honest feedback based on what is observed on site, including photos and notes.

The buyer decides whether to proceed or not. The final decision always rests with the buyer.

If the vehicle is approved and purchased, it can then be prepared for export through standard shipping channels.

This option is separate from auction sourcing and is limited strictly to Northern California due to logistics.

It is important to note:

The inspection is visual and observational only.

No mechanical certification or guarantee is provided.

Viewing a vehicle does not remove the normal risks associated with used vehicles.

Any travel or inspection related costs are handled separately from auction services.

This option is shared for clarification only, as many buyers prefer to explore private seller vehicles instead of auctions. The same export documentation, shipping, and clearing process applies after purchase.

That earlier post reflected how I operated at the time. Since then, my structure, licensing, and process have changed significantly.

This current thread is meant to replace that older approach with a clearer, more documented process that focuses on:

Acting strictly as a buying and export agent

Using written agreements before bidding or payment

WHAT I DO

I act strictly as a buying and export agent.
I do not sell cars to clients.
Clients pay the vehicle's actual cost and all third-party charges directly.
My professional fee is a flat USD 250.

WHERE VEHICLES ARE SOURCED

Depending on budget and preference, vehicles may be sourced through:

• Dealer only auctions such as Manheim and American Auto Auction, which mainly carry clean title dealer inventory
• Public auctions such as Copart and IAAI for salvage or damaged vehicles

Each platform has different risk levels and pricing. I guide clients on what fits their goal and budget.

BUDGET EXPECTATION (VERY IMPORTANT)

Clients should provide a total landing budget, not just a car price.

A simple guide is to check the current selling price of the same vehicle in Nigeria and subtract about ₦2,000,000. The remaining amount should cover the vehicle purchase, auction fees, inland transport, shipping, and clearing.

This approach prevents failed bids, delays, and misunderstandings.

SERVICE FEE AND DEPOSIT

• Flat service fee: USD 250
• Refundable bidding deposit: USD 1,000 before bidding begins

The deposit authorizes bidding and is applied toward the vehicle cost once a car is won. Balance payment is required immediately after a successful bid to avoid auction penalties.

WHAT THE SERVICE FEE COVERS

• Vehicle search and sourcing
• Auction bidding coordination
• Purchase and title handling for export
• Export documentation
• Shipping coordination

The service fee does not include the car price, auction fees, trucking, shipping, or Nigerian clearing. Those are paid at cost by the client.

VEHICLE CONDITION AND TRANSPARENCY

All vehicles are purchased as is based on auction or seller disclosures.

Accident and salvage vehicles are shown as accident vehicles.
Clean title vehicles cost more and the budget must support it.

All available photos, reports, and disclosures are shared before any bid is placed. No vehicle is misrepresented.

SHIPPING AND CLEARING

Shipping is arranged through third-party carriers based on vehicle type and port.
Clearing in Nigeria is handled by the client or a clearing agent of their choice. I can assist with coordination if requested.

AGREEMENT AND PROCESS

Before any payment or bidding, clients receive a written service agreement explaining:

• Deposits
• Refunds
• Auction rules
• Responsibilities on both sides

We only proceed after the agreement is reviewed and accepted.
