To avoid getting impeached by legitimate lawmakers from Ekiti state for gross misconduct, Governor Ayodele Fayose has embarked on blocking roads leading to the state capital, Ado-Ekiti with buses, logs of wood and bonfires. The governor initially disappeared from the state capital to avoid being served with the impeachment notice exclusively published by SaharaReporters claiming he had not seen the notice. However, sources told Saharareporters that since losing the Presidential elections on March 28th, 2015, President Goodluck Jonathan has refused to provide military and police officers to continue the shenanigans that have propelled Mr. Faye’s impunity in the state. President Jonathan is reportedly busy packing out of the Presidential Villa in preparation for civilian life. Overnight several parts of Ado-Ekiti were blocked by aides of Mr. Fayose, who had vowed to resist lawmakers led by the legitimate speaker of the house of assembly from accessing the state capital to commence Mr. Fayose’s impeachment. The speaker has vowed to commence and conclude the impeachment of the governor as soon as feasible. www.saharareporters.com/2015/04/07/governor-fayose-blocks-ekiti-roads-buses-and-bonfires-avoid-impeachment

The Gunners' must refocus on the Premier League top-four race after Tuesday's disastrous Champions League setback against Monaco as they face the resurgent Toffees A "hurt" Arsene Wenger has demanded a response to Arsenal's shock Champions League defeat to Monaco when they welcome Everton to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. The critics were left sharpening their knives after the Gunners slipped to a 3-1 home loss to Leonardo Jardim's men in Wednesday's Champions League last-16 first leg, which left them a tall order to turn the tie around in the return meeting. Arsenal were too often exposed in defence against the Ligue 1 side, while striker Olivier Giroud endured a dreadful outing in front of goal. Wenger was not interested in playing the blame game, though, insisting the team must take collective responsibility and put in a much improved showing as they look to consolidate third place in Premier League. "There's nobody to blame individually. Who is a striker who didn't miss a chance? The fact that we missed some chances was only one of the characteristics of the night," he told reporters. "For us what is important is to respond well. We are on a strong run in the Premier League and we have to respond to that disappointment in a strong way on Sunday afternoon - that's all we can do. "What is hurting is the defeat more than the criticism. I do not say I'm immune to it. I love to win and when I don't win, I'm hurt of course." In contrast to Arsenal's woes, Everton's continental adventure continued in the Europa League as a 3-1 victory at home to Young Boys completed a 7-2 aggregate triumph. Roberto Martinez's side have now lost just once in their past seven matches and there is further cause for optimism in the fact Everton have not been beaten by Arsenal in the last five league meetings between the sides. Martinez does not expect Arsenal to show any effects from their poor showing against Monaco, though, and pointed to the Londoners' excellent home league record as a sign of the difficulty Everton face. "I don't think Arsenal will suffer from what happened against Monaco," he insisted. "You need to remember they only have one [league] defeat at home. We are desperate to go for a good result." Martinez, whose side are 12th, has no fresh injury worries to contend with ahead of the trip south. Christian Atsu and Bryan Oviedo (hamstring) remain absent after missing the clash against Young Boys, while Tony Hibbert, Aiden McGeady and Steven Pienaar (all knee) are not yet ready to return. Wenger received another blow ahead of the match, with Jack Wilshere set for more time out after undergoing a minor ankle operation. www.goal.com/en-gb/match/arsenal-vs-everton/1704015/preview |

The Premier League champions have re-discovered their scoring form as they prepare to face last season's Champions League conquerors at the Etihad Stadium Manchester City will look to avenge last season's Champions League exit and reach the quarter- finals for the first time when they take on Barcelona at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday. Barca defeated City at the same stage of last season's competition - a 4-1 aggregate success set up by a 2-0 win at the Etihad Stadium, with Manuel Pellegrini's side having a man sent off in both fixtures. City, however, head into the match having rediscovered their form and scoring touch, with the last two Premier League games yielding six points and nine goals. Saturday's 5-0 hammering of Newcastle United was City's first triumph at home since New Year's Day and came on the same day leaders Chelsea dropped two points against Burnley. With his side's domestic title chances having received a boost, Pellegrini's focus will now fall on helping City finally reach the last eight. The Chilean is without Yaya Toure, however, as he concludes a suspension following his dismissal against CSKA Moscow. James Milner, who missed the clash with Newcastle, trained on Monday and looks set to return to the line-up in the Ivorian's place. Should he miss out, however, he will be replaced by either Frank Lampard or Jesus Navas. Barcelona, meanwhile, will seek to exorcise the demons of Saturday's "painful" home defeat to Malaga by overcoming City on their own pitch for the second successive year. Luis Enrique's side were lacklustre in a 1-0 La Liga defeat which handed the initiative firmly to rivals Real Madrid in the domestic title race. But the Catalan club still harbour hopes of completing a treble this season, with European aspirations taking centre stage on Tuesday as Barca head to the home of the English champions. And erasing the hurt of the weekend's setback is top of coach Luis Enrique's priorities. "Defeats are painful whenever they occur and are difficult to overcome, but we have a great challenge [against Manchester City]," he said. "I hope this [performance against Malaga] was an accident, but we will see in the coming weeks." The result ended a run of 11 consecutive victories for Barca, who are on the brink of reaching the Copa del Rey final after their 3-1 first-leg triumph over Villarreal. A 21-man Barca squad will make the trip to Manchester, with the one cause for concern being defender Jordi Alba, who trained alone on Sunday following a knock. One man among the visiting contingent who may have more to prove than the rest is Dani Alves, whose failure to deal with a straightforward long ball allowed Juanmi to net Malaga's winner at Camp Nou. The Brazilian will have fond memories of facing City, though, having netted in both legs last season. The return leg will take place in Barcelona on March 18 - just four days before El Clasico. |
