The Brazilian Senate has voted overwhelmingly to hold an impeachment trial of suspended President Dilma Rousseff, who is accused of breaking the budget law.

The Senate voted 59 to 21 in favour of the trial following a marathon debate that ended in the early hours of Wednesday.’

Temer, Rousseff’s conservative former vice president who took office in May, has urged Senators to wrap up the trial quickly so he can move ahead with a plan to cap public spending, reform an overly generous pension system and restore confidence in government finances.

Rousseff has denied any wrongdoing and denounced her impeachment as a right-wing conspiracy that has used an accounting technicality as a pretext to illegally remove a government that improved the lot of Brazil’s poorer classes.

Police say a man was assaulted with a crowbar in the parking lot of a New Jersey restaurant for wearing a Donald Trump T-shirt.

Police say the 62-year-old victim was walking in Bloomfield last week when a man in a vehicle questioned him about the shirt featuring the Republican presidential candidate and cursed at him.

Authorities say the man got out of his vehicle and struck the victim several times with a crowbar.

Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan visits Moscow to hold talks with President, Vladimir Putin in a bid to “reset” ties with Russia.

Before leaving Turkey, Mr Erdogan referred to president Putin as his “friend” and said he wanted to open a new page in relations with Russia.

“This visit strikes me as a new milepost in our bilateral relations, starting again from a clean slate,” Erdogan told Reuters.

“A new page will be opened in Russo-Tukish ties. This new page will include military, economic and cultural cooperation.”

Relations between the two countries plunged into crisis last year when turkey shot down a Russian military jet on the Syrian border.

A Russian has been detained after drunkenly stabbing to death a man who had just helped save his wife from drowning, investigators said Monday.

The crime took place on Saturday evening when the 51-year-old culprit and his wife were drinking on the shore of Siberia's Lake Baikal, the world's deepest freshwater lake around 4,400 kilometres (2,730 miles) east of Moscow.

The couple went swimming and the woman got into difficulties, but a group of young men nearby heard her screams and helped her husband pull her out, investigators for the eastern Siberian Buryatia region said in a statement.

But "despite the fact that the men had rushed over and practically saved the life of his wife," the man started drunkenly shouting at the rescuers and pushing one of them, investigators said.

As the group of young men revived the woman and took her over to a campsite, the husband ran off and fetched a knife, investigators said, based on witness testimony.

He then ran up and "threatened them with reprisals". As the rescuers tried to disarm him, he stabbed two of them, one in the hip and one in the neck.

Nigeria’s Under-23 team defeated Sweden by a goal to maintain top spot in the Group B.

Umar Sadiq put Nigeria ahead of Sweden in the 40th minute when he headed a cross from the right flank, beating the swedish keeper that had stopped the Nigerian side from scoring in the first few minutes of the game.

It is Nigeria’s second victory in the group games.

The team defeated Japan 5-4 in their first games.

With the victory over Sweden, Nigeria is topping the group with six points while Sweden has just a point.

The Nigerian Army on Saturday expressed optimism that the Government Secondary School (GSS), Chibok, in Borno will reopen for academic activities in September.

Brig.-Gen.Victor Ezugwu, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, told newsmen in Maiduguri that this was based on progress of its reconstruction. Ezugwu said the army took over the supervision of the reconstruction after a directive from the presidency.

“The school has become a national monument of a sort following the April 14, 2014 abduction of about 217 girls by terrorists at the institution.

“There was actually a presidential order asking army engineers to take over the reconstruction of the school, which led to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), giving directives for us to move in,” he said.

Ezugwu said the engineers had been on site for some time trying to ensure the reconstruction of the school. “We are trying to rebuild the entire structures by supervising contractors on site.”

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has selected a German, Gernot Rohr to manage the Super Eagles.

The NFF President Amaju Pinnick confirmed the development on Friday.

Rohr is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Saturday.

He is also expected to be in Lagos on Sunday where he would be at the stands to watch the league match between Ikorodu United and Sunshine Stars.

Rohr would be introduced to Nigerians in Abuja on Monday.

Italian businessman and former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi has agreed to sell famous soccer club AC Milan to a Chinese consortium for 740 million euros ($820 million).

Despite a recent slump, AC Milan is one of Europe's elite football clubs. It has won the European Cup and UEFA Champions League seven times, a record beaten only by Spain's Real Madrid.

According to a preliminary agreement with Berlusconi's Fininvest holding company, the new Chinese owners have promised to pump 350 million euros into the club over three years, with the first 100 million euros due when the deal closes later this year.

Led by Yonghong Li, the group buying AC Milan also includes Haixia Capital and a Chinese state-owned investment company.

In a second deal announced Friday, English club West Bromwich Albion was sold to Chinese construction entrepreneur Guochuan Lai for an undisclosed sum.

Chinese investors have been buying up foreign companies at a record rate this year, in part to compensate for slowing growth at home.

Diego Maradona has hailed the new Argentina coach Edgardo "Paton" Bauza as a man with a record of sacrificing everything for national glory.

Bauza, 58, was appointed Argentina coach on Monday after the departure of Gerardo Martino, who left disappointing defeats in the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Copa America finals.

"I'll never forget him at the 1990 finals," Maradona wrote on his Facebook account. "We were a generation which gave everything for the national team," Maradona wrote. "And he sat on the bench throughout the entire World Cup"

The Plateau State Police Command has announced a ten-million-naira reward for anyone that can provide useful information leading to the arrest of perpetrators of the gruesome murder of a Plateau monarch, the chief of Bokkos, Saf Ron Kulere and three others.

Police Commissioner, Adekunle Oladunjoye, made the announcement at the police headquarters in Jos during the working visit of the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 4, Mr Agboola Oshodi.

The Police Commissioner said that investigation was still ongoing in the murder of the monarch and the reward placed on the suspected killers was an evidence of the commitment of the Police and the state government in finding the perpetrators of the crime.

The first class traditional ruler was gruesomely murdered by unknown gunmen on Monday, July 18, 2016 alongside three others while others sustained injuries from the attack.

He was attacked in his village, Sha, while coming back from the farm along Bokkos-Barkin Ladi Road on Monday evening in company of his son, the police orderly and the driver.

There had been protests by angry youths of Bokkos aggrieved by the murder of their ruler.

The aggrieved youths took to the streets blocking the highway between Bokkos and Barkin Ladi to express their grievances on the killings.

The Police immediately launched an investigation into the killing.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of Operations, Joshak Habila, said that a special investigative team from the Force Headquarters had taken over the case.

He disclosed that a helicopter had also been released for aerial surveillance of the community.

The White House on Tuesday announce that Google's drone delivery program (named Project Wing), will begin testing its delivery drones in the U.S.

The announcement was part of a larger drone initiative by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. The initiative also includes $35 million in federal research funding over the next five years to study the best ways to use drone technology.

The FAA also said it hoped to allow drones to fly over people by the end of the year. That would remove a huge hurdle for commercial entities that want to use the technology for their business but have been constrained by where the drones are allowed to flow.

The United Nation’s Security Council has agreed to send its police force to Burundi in other to subdue the violence and human right abuses in the country.

More than 400 people have been killed in unrest since President Pierre Nkurunziza said he would run for a third term in office last April.

More than 200,000 people have fled their homes.

“Given an increase in violence and tension, the Security Council must have eyes and ears on the ground to predict and ensure that the worst does not occur in Burundi,” French UN Ambassador Francois Delattre told Reuters.

“This is a strong act of preventative diplomacy,” he added.

The government of Burundi earlier warned that it would agree to no more than 50 UN police officers.

Russia's Sports Minister says 272 of the country's athletes have received approval from international sports federations to compete at the Rio Olympics under new restrictions imposed due to the Russian doping scandal.

Vitaly Mutko tells Russian media that "as of today, 272 athletes have definitely been admitted to the Olympics," adding that a final figure would be available Saturday.

Russia had originally planned to send a 387-person team, but that has steadily been reduced as federations removed those who had previously served doping bans and those implicated in World Anti-Doping Agency investigator Richard McLaren's report alleging a massive cover-up of failed drug tests.

At least 19 residents have been killed at a care centre for people with mental disabilities in the Japanese city of Sagamihara, after a local man unleashed a knife attack on residents.

According to Reuters, Satoshi Uematsu, 26, a former employee at the facility in Sagamihara town in Kanagawa Prefecture, about 25 miles (40 km) southwest of Tokyo, later turned himself in to the police after the incident.

At least 25 other residents of the facility were wounded in the attack.

He reportedly told the police that he wanted people with disabilities to “disappear”.
