A distribution board is a part in an electrical supply system from which power is distributed through circuit breakers to the various circuits within a building. It is normally installed inside the building.

Inside A Residential Single Phase Distribution Board

Basically, It houses the MCB, RCCD, Neutral Link, and an Earthlink.

1. MCBs (milianture circuit breaker):

Milianture circuit breakers are over current protection device that automatically trip off when an over current or over loading is detected, such can be caused when a load higher than the MCB's ratings is applied, This will cause the MCB to trip off, to restore the system you have to manually turn it on.

In the case of a single phase distribution board system, they are two types of MCB used;

A. DP MCB (Double Pole Milianture Circuit Breaker) The Main Switch, this are two pairs of MCS, it allows you to turn off the entire DB, because it receives the incoming supply from the utility to the entire DB system. In case of fire out break or electric shock, you can quickly turn the DP MCB off to shot down power supply to the entire building.

B. SP MCB (Single Pole Milianture Circuit breaker)
As the name implies, they are single circuit control breakers, they control current flow to individual circuit, and depending on its rating (in amps) they can be used to control a single device or section in the building. Example a 20A SP MCB can supply a single Air condition or water heater unit, And a 10A SP MCB can control a set of light bulbs- say 3-4 60W electric bulbs.



2. The RCCD (Residual Current Circuit Device)
The RCD or RCCD is a very important protection device, it is usually installed in between the DP MCB and the SP MCB in the DB. The RCD is designed to trip the circuit whenever it detects that the electric current is not balanced between the energized conductor and the return neutral conductor. It then
instantly disconnect the electricity (in dangerous
conditions).

The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), in collaboration with Coalition of Professionals in Southern Kaduna, on Friday staged a peaceful protest in Gwantu, Sanga Local Government Area, over “incessant attacks by herdsmen”.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that many communities in the area had come under attacks that claimed scores of lives.

The attackers also destroyed crops and livestock in Ninte, Angwan-Ayu, Gad-Biyu and Angwan- Mada villages in Jema’a and Sanga Local Government Areas.


The protesters, who were led by SOKAPU President, Mr Solomon Musa, and the Chairman, Coalition of Professionals, Mr Mark Jacob, condemned the “systematic and continuous killings of innocent people” in the areas.

Musa, who spoke with NAN, said that the people took to the streets to appeal to people of good will and conscience to reach out to the authorities to tackle the security situation in the area.

“We want to tell the whole world that there has been enough blood shed here; we want everyone to know that harmless and armless people in Sanga and other parts of Southern Kaduna are being killed,” he said..

Musa called for a joint military operation to stem the tide of the killings as was done to other crises-ridden areas.


He claimed that more than 50,000 people had either been killed or displaced from 24 villages since the first invasion that took place in 2011.

“In 2014 alone, there were 30,000 refugees that fled from Sanga alone.

“Those natives have yet to return home as herdsmen have converted their farm lands into grazing grounds,” he said.

The President said that the people of the area had the right to live in peace and pursue their livelihood in a free society as guaranteed by the Nigerian constitution and the United Nation Convention charter.

He said that the protest was not motivated by any political, religious or ethnic affiliations, pointing out that the people were only united in their grief and their desire to be protected.

Musa commended Gov. Nasir El-Rufai over his recent visit to the ravaged villages, and urged the government to back its words with actions by deploying adequate security to the area.

Jacob, in his remarks, regretted that people were killed “barely two days after the visit of the Governor”.

“One Pastor Luka Ubangari of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Ungwan Anjo in Godogodo was killed not long after the governor left.

“Two days ago, the attackers went to Ningon and killed Mr Gambo Sule and Benjamin Auta.

“A major concern for us is that in spite of these massive attacks, no one has been arrested and charged to court,” he said.

The protesters also solicited assistance for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from members of the public, Churches, Mosques, corporate and public organisations, NGOs, international agencies and governments.

NAN reports that the protesters carried placards some of which read: “Enough is Enough,” “Stop the Genocide,” “Free our children,” amongst others.

We're just one month out from a new iPhone release, but news of next year's model can't seem to stop seeping out. According to Bloomberg, the 2017 iPhone will no longer contain the iconic home button Apple fans have grown accustomed to over the last decade. The news pairs well with other reports of next year's iPhone, which will mark the device's 10th anniversary, using OLED display technology. That would allow the entire front of the device to "appear like a single sheet of glass," according to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal in June.

That's not the only big change rumored for the 2017 iPhone. Nikkei Asian Review reported earlier this week that Apple may introduce a third, premium smartphone next year with a curved display not unlike Samsung's Galaxy S7 Edge. In fact, the report states Samsung may even be the supplier for these curved OLED displays.

For those wondering what will change with the upcoming iPhone 7, the device is said to remove the headphone jack in favor of the Lightning port, contain two rear cameras, and a memory boost to 3GB of RAM, according to separate report from Bloomberg. It will also contain a pressure-sensitive home button that relies on the same type of vibrating haptic feedback used in the Apple Watch and the trackpad of the new Apple MacBook.
