@Dr Hesjay....the theorem above will not hold if and only if there are more than one different base on one side...for example, x^y * w^v=2^a.......the bases on both side cannot be equated in this case since x¢w...i.e x isnt equal to w

@Dr HESJAY....consider the form x^a=2^5.....by induction,it can be established dat since both r.h.s and l.h.s have single base each,the base can be equated as well as the exponent or power of each single base on both side .HENCE,x=2 and a=5.

if (x/2)^x=16.hence,2^4=(x/2)^x....if the bases are equated,x/2=2 and x=2*2=4.......alternatively, if the powers on both sides are equated,then x=4

@JOHNPAUL,FOR PARALLEL RESISTORS 4 ohms and 5ohms,1/R=1/4+1/5 Hence,R=5.22 ohms....E=I(R+r)....6=I(5.22+0.5) I=1.05A p.d across 3ohms resistor=1.05(3)=3.15V.....Therefore,p.d across parallel resistors4ohm and 5ohm=6v-3.15v=2.85v....
