Rokynwastar:
Toggle the sim switch option again or better still, if you have access to the sim card port, put a sim card in and it will reset what you did.
I have tried that multiple times since 3pm yesterday but nothing seems to work

Please does anyone know how to fix this Sim switch option for the new ZTE ODU routers. The option to switch was initially available but it greyed out after clicking it and refused to come back even after multiple resetting of the device.

Mine just got installed. Up and running.

I'm getting up to 23Mbps upload. Interesting.

I hope this is the end to Airtel's bad network issue sha. Let's watch and see.

No network disruptions experienced with grid off (White Unit)

Well i bought mine around the 4th of september and it came with the 20mps plan and i was getting the 20mps speed most of the time .. i have now renewed my subscription to the 50mps plan is get 50mps too most of the time .. so i can say so far its been working fine ..i am mostly at home in the evenings and it works okay ..with time i might upgrade to the 100mps plan when i get more devices at home
How did you do go about this renewal, because I was told the same thing by Airtel office here when I complained on being on the 20mbps plan upon activation. I was told it would be changed to the 50mbps plan upon renewal but it's been over a week now and they haven't been able to renew mine.

Never said you can't mount on a roof and still get good harvest from the other side BUT issue is, you guys never point out it's got to be properly mounted in a certain way which increases it's cost both for mounting accessories, fuses, bigger cables, installation fees, etc. of course since it's often heavier, the roof (or anywhere it's being mounted) need be able to cater for such extra weight.

BUT you guys just IGNOREs all those and just focus on what favors you guys.

Mind you, a lot of Cabals in here, have alternate accounts AND a lot of Innocent people are unAware of such hence when they read from 8 people all sharing similar views, they conclude they're right.
There are always downsides to every new technology launched till this present day, does that mean people shouldn't use them.

Cars gets involved in accidents every day, does that stop people from using cars?

We hear of plane crashes, do people still not fly on planes?

Even the internet you are currently on, has its own downsides but you still use it.

Your beloved monofacial panels has its own downsides too, if not manufacturers wouldn't think of advancing the technology behind it, there are already ongoing tests for Perovskite to be used in future generations of solar panels.

You do know you really don't have to add the "lol" part right.

anyways, I have never had issues with newer technologies so long they fix more problems than they introduce BUT issue here, mostly from you guys is, you preach the GOOD, while completely ignoring or completely hiding the BAD part.

Theoretically, bi-Facial Solar panels are better BUT then, you can't just swap them with previous technology without a few considerations which automatically introduces costs.

For instance, they're heavier (currently own 2), they require extra specialized mounting accessories hence one need consider where they're mounting it - if on roof top, it's got to be strong enough and not negatively affect the roof or cause accidents thanks to Wind.
if you paying someone do installations, there's no way they collecting same fee.
how about fuses, cables, etc, you gotta put those also in consideration.

of course there are other tradeOffs but for now, let's ignore those.

Now sum all those downSides; compare it with how much harvest you would be getting at end of the day, then you begin to a sk yourself if it's really really worth it, especially for small scale setUps BUT that becomes a personal decision. Issue is when people now come online to paint a picture comparison of 1:1 perfectness with no downside.
A lot of people would just be buying bi-Facial, and end up using them as regular panels BUT with the extra nuisances e.g weight.

Some seller are even of the opinion that both sides gives same value hence should 1 side break, you could easily turn the other side. And mind you, a lot of people are sheeples. they just go with what they're told, never inquisitive enough; no wonder Religion keeps growing despite obviousness.

Like all things in life, there's always the PROs (Good) and CONs (Bad) side of things; when marketing or making suggestions, endeavor to point out both sides so intending users know what they getting into.

Same thing with Lithium based batteries - they come here to speak so so highly of Lithium batteries like it's got no bad side; then they also speak so so lowly of other alternatives like they got no good sides; all because selling Lithium based batteries to you would add more to their pockets. They've come up with ways to wipe and control the thinking of people so they're literally zombies and guess what, a lot of innocent ones help amplify their claims thinking they know what they're doing because they got evidence - data (fact Sheets and videos) made available by those with beneficial ties to said product / technology.

Once again, up till today, large companies such as Google, Microsoft, etc still use tape Drives and hard Disks even when SSDs now exists and prices steadily coming down.

When advertising or recommending a product, kindly state the Good and Bad sides and how they compare and contrast against previous technologies and see if I would challenge you guys.
We all can't be Matured and Sensible in a room else it gets boring. I'm willing to be and remain the Villain.

The things you just said are what I have been saying which they keep on evading. The extra costs go way beyond the numbers on purchase receipt for individual panels. One needs consider installation kits which differs from normal installation kits. I could even hang without installation KITs but can't do same for Bi-Facial solar panels.

What about fuses and cables, one got to factor in those also. Abi na the extra weight especially since nowAdays, most people are after spending more on expensive roofing sheets, than on the wood that holds same roof. Let's pretend to ignore other more technical specs.

Most Bi-facial solar panels you see installed, are rarely installed in the proper way; rather they install them just like regular Solar panels.

For the person who said He had to replace his BiFacial with regular solar panel, without changing accessories or cables, it's probably because it wasn't properly installed to begin with. For instance, all things equal, a 300watts Mono solar panel SHOULD NOT use same fuse or cable size as a 300watts Bi-facial solar panel.

How many of them even use fuses sef. what they mostly do is just use a single circuit breaker and that's it.

when una meet una clients, una fit dey preach Heaven in Nigeria for them BUT in here, make we talk as weWe
You forgot to mention that you also need to get a new specialized inverter for bifacial panels, that will also add to the cost of the setup, lol.

Edrizz:
It will be unintelligent to install a bifacial solar panel on a dull roof or any roof other than a white one, cos it will make no difference from the mono panel type n it will serve no meaninful purpose during harvest instead an individual have only successfully added more load on the roof for the roofing structures to bear which might be dangerous for the entire building. However, if a bifacial panel is to be installed on a shining roof, one can not use a normal interlock aluminium for its installation, instead a more technical accessories that will raise the panel at an height on the roof will serve a tremendous purpose in energy generation and that would birth higher safety precautions. So I hope solar panel dealers are not pushing agenda on bifacial panels to the populace. Though in all honestly, bifacial panel is better than the mono types but best installed on the ground for awesome results
Do you have any data to prove your point? My bifacial panels are mounted on my black roof and I still get >10% the rated capacity on sunny days.

Don't hate on something you haven't actually tried out yourself.

The prices are not same. You probably considering just price of the Solar panels (which are not always 1:1 exactly) BUT what about the installation kits ? Do you also consider those or you wanna install them exactly like non BiFacial ones. Even you, would you charge same fee to install a BiFacial that you would ask for a non Bi-Facial ?

What about other things such as Fuses, cables, etc; abi if you wanna use same size.

At end of the day, you need know what you doing. A lot of people just go with the crowd. There are lots of Bi-Facial solar panels out there with no spacing at all. They just mount them like regular solar panels - how you wanna enjoy the extra harvest.

Even when you wanna install to enjoy the extra which is never close to 30%, you still need invest in installation else you risk making it vulnerable to wind.

See eh, even when I bought a 60A SRNE MPPT charge controller for 60,000 naira, I still considered cost of transportation + cost of my own stress hence at end of the day, the cost exceeded 60,000 naira I gave them.

Funny enough, a lot of sellers don't even spend much on Solar for their own personal use BUT want their customers to do differently.

Mind You, I'm a Linux user so next time, try use Linux as example while me go use FuFu for comparison since true true...
I recently replaced my monofacial solar panels with bifacials in June this year, and I didn't need to buy any extra cable, breaker, fuses or whatever. Because I maintained similar capacity range of Panel Output. Installation cost was exactly the same as mounting my monofacial panels.

So I don't get your argument without any facts to prove your points, did you contact any installer and they gave a separate quote for bifacial as against monofacial?

I actually thought you had some basic engineering knowledge. I'll like see your own personal comparison videos between your beloved monofacial panel against the bifacial panels, so we can also see your facts on why it is better than bifacial.

yea they generates more BUT at what ratio ? As for being cheaper, they only appear cheaper, for now, just like there was a time Kerosene was cheaper, then Cooking Gas was cheaper, then CNG was cheaper, etc.

A lot of you preach the PROs, without making obvious things that ought be considered. At end of the day, hardly would you even get up to 30% (haven't calculated this myself though I currently own 2pcs).

Mine is, except there's enough spacing between the surface mount and the panel, or weight isn't an issue. Lots of roofs are not so strong compared to building of before especially on a lot of newly built houses. A lot of those houses prioritized aesthetics to quality hence house go fine, dem go use Gerard / stone coated roofing sheets, but fail to spend as much for the wood underneath.

There are lots of roofs where you don't wanna tamper much to avoid leakages.

Have seen a lot of biFacial solar panels mounted just like ordinary solar panels. I even pity a lot of those panels sef because the way they mount a lot of them, the heat from the roofing sheet gan go fir fry dodo.

if you come reside in areas with lots of wind, like some parts of Ado-Odo-Ota, or Ago-Palace way, Okota, you need be careful so you BREEZE no go help you carry your solar panel go where you no know.

You also end up paying for extras such as thicker cables, fuses, etc, even when such wattage / amperage might never be reached.

Mind you, most times, charging cable for Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy s3 no be same price - mostly due to class of both phones despite using same cable.

Don't just rely on youTube videos, anyOne can cook that up. Same way they do with Movies and Religion.

Your 3 wraps of fuFu fit no reach another 1 wrap of FuFu hence reason Oyinbo talk say - "the taste of the pudding is in the eating"
I guess we should all still be reading newspapers by now and not be on Nairaland, since advancement of technology has now become a crime. Hope you are still using Nokia Asha 200 phone in 2025.

New technologies are being developed every day, and the just because you love the old tech so much, doesn't mean that the new tech is a bad idea for others who use it.

You first complain about Bifacial panels was initially the prices and you were proved wrong about the pricing, you now decided to shift to other excuses. I hope you are currently using the first generation of solar panels in your setup, as everything else produced after that is a scam according to you.

Learn to embrace new technologies and adapt to it, don't hold on to old tech for too long. Nokia tried to hold on to their Windows OS on smartphone for too long when other phone brand were embracing Android OS, where is Nokia today?

Hi,

The rating of bi-facial is the expected STC rating, just like monofacials.

So if a monofacial panel is rated 615w its bi-facial counterpart is also rated 615w.

Bi-facials then have a ‘potential’ power gain on the rating.

For example, I have 6 x JA 605w bifacial panels, they are rated to give me the 605w each, but I can get extra power of up to 653w each from bi-facial gains.

Here is my experience, I mounted it on a roof (regular angled roof), my max expected power at STC before bi-facial gains should be 6 x 605w =3,630 W. Then I can potentially get higher due to potential gain.

I actually get up to 3897w with them, so 649.5w each for 605w rated. That means I constantly get the bi-facial gain while mounted on roof.

The main thing is that your roof should be refective (etc aluminium) and from a white colour to like a light shade of gray etc, those are the roof colours that’s can reflect sunlight on the back of the panels. Black roofs might not work because black and darker colours absorb light and do not easily reflect.

See the attached picture, the first bar on the chart, notice the Pmax 3897w.
Thank you for taking out time to actually prove the benefits of bifacial panels even when mounted on a rooftop, most people here have been against it without actually verifying their claims.

They are very quick to discourage anyone from considering a Bifacial panels even when there is no longer a price difference between Bifacial and Monofacial panels.
