Health authorities in Kericho County are on a red alert over a suspected case of Ebola.



This was after a patient exhibited suspected symptoms of the haemorrhagic fever at Kericho County Referral Hospital.



County officials on Monday said the woman had travelled from Malaba, a town in Busia County on the border of Kenya and Uganda, to see her spouse.



She was initially admitted at Siloam Hospital before being transferred to Kericho County Referral Hospital.



"A female patient presented at our facility today with complaints of headache, hotness of the body, puffy face, some diarrhoea, and nausea of acute onset,” said Ms Margaret Okirio, the administrator at Siloam Hospital.

“On further interrogation, she admitted to having travelled from Malaba where she alleges to reside to see her husband who works in Kericho.”



Ms Okirio said they transferred the patient, acting on Health ministry’s alert on Ebola that requires all medical facilities in Kenya and the public to report any medical cases with symptoms of the fever.



"This patient needed close and further elaborate investigations while under appropriate isolation requirements till diagnosed for targeted treatment to be given,” she said. "The hospital clinical team also went ahead to consult and seek further guidance from the county surveillance team, who advised to have the patient transferred to the county referral hospital for further management while on isolation. Once the appropriate preparations had been done.”



The hitherto unidentified patient was admitted to Kericho County Referral Hospital on Sunday and was immediately put in isolation.



“The county disease surveillance team immediately took over the matter and took all the necessary precautions to ensure that there was minimal contact between the patient and other persons at the hospital including the staff and the other hospital users,” the county government said in a statement.

“The county Department of Health Services is monitoring this potential case very closely and is working with the National Government to ensure that all essential procedures are followed to protect public health and safety.”



Blood samples from the patient were sent to the Kenya Medical Research Institute (Kemri) in Nairobi for further analysis.



“The preliminary test results are expected to be ready within the next 12 to 24 hours,” the statement read in part. Kindly note that no visits will be allowed into the isolation room.”



The current outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo is the worst on record after an epidemic that struck mainly in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone between 2014-2016, killing more than 11,300 people.



It has spread to Uganda, where two family members a woman and her five-year-old grandson died of Ebola last week after travelling to the DRC to take care of a dying family member and attend the funeral.



The boy's brother, aged three, is also infected, and several family members are in isolation.



On Friday, the World Health Organisation said the outbreak does not yet warrant being declared a "public health emergency of international concern", meaning it would require a "coordinated international response"

Twitter user, @ogbenioloyede has accused SARS officials in Lagos of extorting him of a pack of Beer after he was stopped at Lagos Island today.

According to him, when the officers checked his ID card and found out he was legit, he was asked to open his car trunk, which he did. When they saw a pack of Beer, he claimed he was asked to forfeit it or get arrested.


He wrote on his page: 'SARS stopped me at Lagos Island today, they checked my ID card and find out I’m legit, so they asked me to open my car trunk, they saw a pack of Goldberg they carried it and ask me to go or else they’ll arrest me, daylight robbery.'

The Gubernatorial Candidate of Peoples Party of Nigeria in Kwara State in the just concluded elections advised the governor_elect in the state to be up and doing in his administration.

He said the people of Kwara will not accept excuses by shifting blame on the past administrations.

He said this in his home state to some newsmen that as the inauguration is coming on 29th of May,2019, excuses for inheriting bad government will not be accepted by the people of Kwara.Moreso, shifting blame on individuals or some personalities for low on non performance will not be tolerated.

He added that over 30 governorship candidates contested during the last election in the state but the masses decided to give their mandate to the governor elect. This privilege must not be taken for granted. A better state is what we all clamour for.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court, Abuja on Tuesday, May 14, adjourned the trial of a former Senior Special Assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe, to June 26, 2019, after cross examination of the fifth witness, Mr. Remigus Ugor, a Compliance Officer with Zenith Bank PLC.



Okupe is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a 59-count charge bordering on money laundering, criminal diversion of funds to the tune of N702, 000,000 (Seven Hundred and Two Million Naira) only.



At the resumed hearing, today, May 14, 2019, Remigus Ugor, while being cross examined by Okupe's Counsel, Akinlabi Akinbade, told the court that Okupe is a signatory to the two accounts he tendered as evidence but that he cannot tell, if the defendant has other bank accounts.



While being cross examined by the defense Counsel to Value Trust Investment Ltd, Ugor told the court that he does not know the purpose for which the payment was made or what it was paid for adding that it’s only the bank customers that know the reason for the deposits made to the banks.



The witness also released different payments made from Value Trust Investment Ltd; to various individuals and companies, which included a cheque of N3million to Gbenga Arulegba of ‘Focus Nigeria’ a programme ran on African Independent Television, AIT, on June 18, 2013, and another N2,200,000 to Aruleba on August 6, 2012.



According to Ugor, there was a payment of N500, 000, sometime in 2013, to one Suleiman Aledeh, another N12million transfer to Channels Incorporated Ltd on November 4, 2014, and another sum of N2, 150,000 payments to one Charles Iorhemba of Nigeria Television Authority, NTA.



Ugor also told the court that the bank can open a company account without a SCUML’s certificate depending on the nature of the company. While being cross-examined by the defense counsel to Abrahams telecoms Ltd, Ezenwa Ifegbulam, on whether the deposit of N35, 050,000, on October 2014, made to Abraham Telecoms was a suspicious or fraudulent transactions, Ugor told the court that he cannot say if it was fraudulent or not, adding that he knows the bank reports transactions above N10million to supervisory bodies.



The judge, however, adjourned the case to June 26 and 28, 2019 for continuation of trial.

Hold your leaders responsible for bad governance:Barr Paul Ajiroba Charges Kwarans.

The gubernatorial candidate of Peoples Party of Nigeria in Kwara State charges the good people of Kwara to hold leaders elected responsible for bad leadership regardless of the office.

He said this at his residence in Ilorin, that people should stand for what they believe in and stand against bad leadership during this administration.

He further said that Kwarans will not tolerate any excuse for non performance by this incoming government by shifting blame on outgoing government.

He further said the era of imposition is gone in the state. He charges leaders to be up to the task and the indigenes must also be proactive in holding their leaders responsible for any act.

Furthermore, he retreiatted that Kwara belongs to all of us and we must not jeopardise the future of our children out of selfish interest as posterity will judge us if we do so.

A Cabman who returned a lady's N25,000 and her International passport that has an American Visa after she forgot her purse in his car has tagged her 'ungrateful' for only giving him N500 as tip.

According to him, after the woman forgot the purse in his car, he drove back to her house and gave her the purse with her money and International passport intact. But his pain is that the woman only gave him N500 tip for the good deed he had done.

Sharing a photo of the woman's purse with her money and international passport in it, he wrote:

'Today a lady forgot her purse in my car, there was N25,000 and an international passport that had an American visa in it. I drove back to her house to return it and she gave me a N500 tip. Some people are just so ungrateful.'

fire captain in Arizona accused of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl while “extremely intoxicated” has claimed he thought she was an adult.

According to court documents obtained by the Arizona Republic, 48-year-old Michael William Palmatier allegedly told a colleague at the Gilbert Fire Department that he did things he could not take back during a relative’s 50th birthday party at a home in Queen Creek on April 21,

Palmatier told the co-worker during a recorded call that he took a prescription muscle relaxer earlier that day after hurting his neck during a sex act with his adult girlfriend, the court documents claim.

Palmatier, who resigned after his arrest Wednesday, allegedly recalled going into a bedroom during the party while off-duty and starting to kiss the victim, not fully aware of what he was thinking.

The colleague then told Palmatier that the victim was 8-years-old, prompting him to repeatedly curse before crying and apologizing, according to the Republic.

Palmatier then said “he let his demons get out,” the court records claim.

In another recorded call, Palmatier allegedly said he went into the bedroom because he “sexually desired” one of the adults at the party, but claimed he would never victimize a child, saying he thought he was kissing someone’s mouth.

“Michael admitted the entire thing was wrong but he would never knowingly do anything sexually to a juvenile,” the records allege, according to the Republic.

“He also commented, ‘Yeah I have a sick side to me, like a sexually sick side to me, but not in that way.’”

Palmatier allegedly later acknowledged that children “don’t make s–t like that up,” but insisted that he thought he was kissing an adult’s mouth rather than the girl’s genitals.

The veteran fire captain of nearly 20 years was arrested Wednesday on charges of suspicion of sexual contact with a minor, kidnapping and indecent exposure, according to the newspaper.

The girl, who was asleep at the time, awoke to a man performing a sex act on her before she escaped the bed and ran into a nearby bathroom, court documents claim.

The girl’s aunt told investigators that her niece told her a “man had removed his pants and underwear and licked her.”

Witnesses at the party said they saw Palmatier “abruptly leave” the birthday bash, leading one male family friend to later confront him at his home.

“Michael answered the door and appeared to be extremely intoxicated,” the records read, according to the Republic.

Palmatier then asked the man if he was upset, before allegedly repeating, “I f–ked up.”

Palmatier, who has been released from custody, was ordered by a judge to wear an electronic monitoring device ahead of his next court appearance on May 1, the Republic reports.

The Youth Farmers Rice Project under the leadership of Honourable Abdulrahman Umar Etudaye express great dissatisfaction with the Dangote Rice Limited over breach of agreement, Sabotage, intimidation, fraud, threat to life and maliciously using the name of the youth farmers at the rice farm project in Ejiba, Yagba West, Kogi State Nigeria to deceive the members of the public under the guise of multimillon youth empowerment programme for unemployed youth graduates in Nigeria.

On 4th April, 2017, Dangote Rice Limited had an understandig and agreement embarking on a Rice Project with the youth farmers clearly stating out parties obligations with the sole aim of partnership in a contract farming by fifty unemployed youth graduates cutting across the thirty six states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory. In a bid for the youth farmers to make a better livelihood. We embarked on the project, staying in the farm for over seven months, starting from 7th April 2017 to 10th October 2017.

We further wish to inform Nigerians and the world that the staff and management in Dangote Rice Limited conspired to frustrate, sabotage and defraud the effort of the youth since the inception of the project to harvesting and off-taking period using all resources within their means to make the project a failure ranging from late arrival of farm inputs (fertilizer and urea) and demands of kickbacks of funds for the project. At severally times in the project the staffs insist on getting kick backs from the youth farmers making claims that it is the doctrine in the dangote group plc, with references made to previous rice projects at hadeja in Jigawa state were the staffs embark on multimillion fraud and kick back collection from contractors.

In order to ascertain integrity and credibility in the project, the youth promptly notified the management of the company via several emails, petitions and text messages of the fraud, sabotage, inflation of figures, intimidation and threat to life been committed by the staff of Dangote but no response from the management. It is observed that the fraud and corruption by the dangote management is systemic and such the staffs are confident in carrying out this nefarious activities because they enjoy cover up even when reports are being made.

We will make available to the press and public evidences on: email, audio and video record.

After the completion of the first season of the project, harvesting over 30 metric tonnes of rice despite the frustration and sabotage, the management of dangote rice led by the Group Executive director and managing director travelled down to the youth farm location, Ejiba, yagba west kogi state to flag off the project on 10th of October 2018 which was aired on media both print (several national newspaper) and visual media( Channel TV) stating the project is successful, also that the company have empowered unemployed youths graduate in Ejiba with a multi-million Naira rice project.
Thus when we agitated against their criminal acts and seek compensation via a petition to the management, to our dismay the company denied the youth of not having any agreement with them ( the letter of denial from dangote will be made available to the press and public), we consider this act criminal, for dangote rice to have denied us after carting away our farm produce and also showing us to the world on air that they have empowered us to gain public accolades.

We make bold to say confidently, that the project is a scam, deceit, highly misleading to the members of the public and a sabotage of livelihood of young hardworking graduate men and women who left their various homes to labour via their sweat in the farm.

On 1st November, 2017 the managing Director of dangote rice limited directed a dangote truck from obajana to transport over 30 metric tones of rice paddy at the youth farm warehouse in Ejiba, with the promise that they will make payment of the paddy once it arrive dangote ware house in kano and on the basis of trust considering that dangote is a reputable conglomerate, we agreed.
Uptil date, 2 years after the project no payment have been made to this effect.

On Sunday 20th May 2018 the management of dangote rice out of their act of impunity, oppression and greed against the youths, burgled the youth farmers warehouse at Ejiba, yagba west, kogi state.
It is Noteworthy that the burgled ware house was duly rented and being maintained by the youth farmers out of their sweat. Dangote rice management made away with our farm implements ( pumping machine, NapSacks sprayers, rice harvesting equipments, threshers, bird scaring nets etc), also all the farm input ( Chemicals, fertilizer, etc.
On 20th June 2018 a female secretary from dangote headquarters who have been part of the project made a call to the leader of the youth farmers making several confessions on the project and also revealed the management plan to arrest and silent us if we further raise an eyebrow on this matter again (audio evidence will be make available to the press and public on this to be verified from network service providers.).
This act of sabotage and burgle is embrassing to have been carried out by a conglomerate as Dangote rice limited against young hardworking Nigerian graduate, who choose to work dirty in the farm field for their livelihood.

This press release became necessary after severally letters and mails have been forwarded to dangote group plc. precisely to Alh. Aliko Dangote and the Management with no response at different times in the last one year.

We call on the President of Dangote group Plc, Alh. Aliko Dangote, GCON, to come into this matter and give the youths their desired justice. As we would avoid dragging his had earn name into the mud.

We call on: the Presidency, National Assembly, Coalition of Civil Society groups, National Youth Council of Nigeria ( NYCN), National Association of Nigerian Student ( NANS), All African Student Union ( AASU), Nigerian Youth Parliament (NYP), Nigerian Labour Congress ( NLC), Youth Organizations, National Human Rights Commission, Federal Ministry of Justice, Crusader of human rights in Nigeria and the International Communities to save our soul for justice from dangote.

We the aggrieved youth hereby demands:
1.That the management of dangote return all burgled farm inputs and implements back to the youth farm warehouse in Ejiba, Yagba west, kogi state.
2.That the management of dangote Immediately pay the youth farmers for the over 30 metric tones of rice paddy from the youth farm transported to dangote ware house in kano on 1st November,2018.
3. Compensate the youths for sabotaging and damaging our livelihood; risking our lives as Nigerian youths and maliciously using our names in press under the guise of youth empowerment to gain public accolades. More so for threatening our life.
We give Alh. Aliko Dangote and Dangote rice limited a 14 days ultimatum to urgently meet the demands of the youth farmers.
Failure to meet the demands of the youth farmers will leave us with the option of mass action (nationwide democratic protest) to occupy dangote headquarters, marble house, Ikoyi, lagos state indefinitely in our quest for justice until our demands is meet.

We therefore call on the Federal Government to come to our aid in getting justice as the future of Nigerian youths is being enslaved in his own father land.

We call on the President of Dangote group Plc, Alh. Aliko Dangote, GCON, to come into this matter and give the youths their desired justice. As we would avoid dragging his had earn name into the mud.

We call on: the Presidency, National Assembly, Coalition of Civil Society groups, National Youth Council of Nigeria ( NYCN), National Association of Nigerian Student ( NANS), All African Student Union ( AASU), Nigerian Youth Parliament (NYP), Nigerian Labour Congress ( NLC), Youth Organizations, National Human Rights Commission, Federal Ministry of Justice, Crusader of human rights in Nigeria and the International Communities to save our soul for justice from dangote.

We the aggrieved youth hereby demands:
1.That the management of dangote return all burgled farm inputs and implements back to the youth farm warehouse in Ejiba, Yagba west, kogi state.
2.That the management of dangote Immediately pay the youth farmers for the over 30 metric tones of rice paddy from the youth farm transported to dangote ware house in kano on 1st November,2018.
3. Compensate the youths for sabotaging and damaging our livelihood; risking our lives as Nigerian youths and maliciously using our names in press under the guise of youth empowerment to gain public accolades. More so for threatening our life.
We give Alh. Aliko Dangote and Dangote rice limited a 14 days ultimatum to urgently meet the demands of the youth farmers.
Failure to meet the demands of the youth farmers will leave us with the option of mass action (nationwide democratic protest) to occupy dangote headquarters, marble house, Ikoyi, lagos state indefinitely in our quest for justice until our demands is meet.

We therefore call on the Federal Government to come to our aid in getting justice as the future of Nigerian youths is being enslaved in his own father land.

Barr Paul Ajiroba Charges Synergy between the Executive and Legislative Arm of Government in Kwara State:

The Gubernatorial Candidate of Peoples Party of Nigeria in Kwara State has once again admonished the new elected government officials in Kwara State to be co_operative and pro_active in running the affairs of the state in the next four years.

In his interview, he charges the new elected law makers to be pro active and professional in discharging their duties for the betterment of the good people of Kwara.He Further enjoins the law makers elect to have a foster relationship with the Executive and further check the excesses of Governor_elect if the need be if going ultravires in discharging his duties.

Furthermore, he charges the members of the Transitional Committee just appointed by the Governor_elect to take Peoples interest a priority over personal interest. This is a necessity to this government because to whom much is given much is expected.

Do not betray Kwarans over political appointments:

He expressed his concern on the ground that those that will form his government will determine his failure or performance in the next four years. Selection process for appointments must be based on intergrity, merit and antecedent devoid of political and religious sentiment.

The lawyer and politician added that cabinet members must be constituted on time immediately after swearing in without any delay other wise the good people of Kwara will loose confidence in your leadership.

There is high expectations from the good people of Kwara within this four years which must not be betrayed.

We want a Kwara that the source of daily income of an individual is worth boasting of in and outside the state. We want a Kwara that outsiders rush to our state for greener pastures. We want a Kwara devoid of religious sentiment in employment and appointment. We want Kwara with competent leadership devoid of political imposition. We want Kwara of maximum participation of youths and women in governance.

We want Kwara where Councilor will act as Councilor, where Chairman of Local Government will act as Chairman Local Government, Honourable members will act Honourable member, Senator will act as Senator and Commissioner will act as Commissioner.
We want Kwara that our civil servants will be better paid. A Kwara that is well commercialised with good infrastructure.

A Kwara that the public fund is used for the members of the public.A kwara that the future of our children is protected and guaranteed. We want Kwara where all Kwarans will all benefit from dividend of democracy.
This is the Kwara we all clamour for in this government.

My advise to the Governor_Elect in Kwara State towards a successful administration.

I,Barrister Paul Ajiroba, the Gubernatorial Flag bearer of Peoples Party of Nigeria humbly congratulate His Excellency, the Governor_Elect in Kwara State for his victory at the just concluded polls and I pray may Allah be with you during your administration.

Sir, as the Governor_Elect in Kwara State, I have some advice which I believe that why adopting some of my views it will go a long way in achieving success in your administration.

My views are highlighted below.
1.This new administration should run an all inclusive government.The government must not only appoint only the party members alone but other parties that contested in the Gubernatorial elections together with Your Excellency.

The reason for this is because manifestoes of other parties can also be useful for your government in achieving greater heights in Kwara State.

2. Youths and Women empowerment:
Your Excellency Sir, my humble advise for you concerning the youths and women is that they must be given special recognition in your government.These two set of people are vital in government developments which must not be underrated.Moreso, inclusiveness of youth and women in government.Speaking as a youth, the unemployed young graduates have gone into many atrocities for the sake of livelihood.I will advise that this present government should employ more youths.For instance, the Federal Government N.Power Beneficiaries in Kwara State should be permanently retained.Empowerment programs both informal and formal should be introduced.Interest loan program that will make youth and women go into agriculture Should be introduced as well.These two sets of people contributed to your victory at the poll which in my view should be motivated for the purpose of the next re_election.

3.Review of Tax laws:
Our tax system in Kwara State is too burdensome which do not give small scale business opportunity to grow.Tax paid are over rated which must be reviewed in order to encourage both small scale businesses and big investors in Kwara State.

4.Agriculture:
Kwara State is a blessed State with large mass of land in the State.We can revive our agricultural system in the state by producing rice, milk, Tomato and other agricultural produce.

5.Implementation of #30,000 minimum wage:
It is very important sir to look into the wages of civil servant in Kwara State as we are one of the least paid civil service in Nigeria.
On a final note sir, I wish you the very best in your administration as you pioneer the affairs of this State to a greater heights.
