I'm quoting my recent comment, where I mentioned a domain that's getting attention lately due to the SI hype. Yeah, that's the name that just sold. I kinda have mixed feelings about this sale. Why? There are lots of things going on with the name. So here is the whole gist!

I remember I have posted on this thread several times whenever DreamHost have FREE domains up for grab (.pro/.tech/.cloud, etc.), and I have encouraged people several times to give it a shot since it's free. Well, I always practice what I preach; that's why this sale happened. This month last year, DreamHost was doing their .io FREE domain grab, so I activated my research and hunt mode. After a few hours, I found a few hidden gems. Since I could only get one for free, I settled for this name, and I hand-registered it for $0 Thanks to DreamHost, I love those guys; I still have some FREE gems I got from them.

Fast forward to last month, I had lots of domain renewals for September and October, so I started reviewing the ones I'd renew and drop (I usually renew most of my names, cuz they seem to have potential). Unfortunately, this domain was among the ones I felt I wasn't going to renew, but at some point, my domaining instinct kicked in. I usually mark/color-code the names that I'd renew with green and the ones I'm dropping with red, but I didn't mark this domain cuz I wanted to think more about it. During this period, I dropped the price to $1499 since it was expiring in about a month anyways. Well, about 2 weeks later, Donald Trump came out with his Super Intelligence cho cho cho, so people started talking about SI, and this domain started getting LOTS of views. At that point, it was no longer negotiable; I knew I was going to renew it for sure!!!

I started the renewal process earlier this week, but for some reason, it's taking a long time, so I thought maybe it's because it's a .io domain. I even reached out to DreamHost about it yesterday afternoon. I was waiting for the transfer to complete before INCREASING the price back to where it should be; that was the mistake I made. I shouldn't have waited... While waiting, someone pulled the trigger on the name and got it for $1499. Although I got it for FREE, I know it's worth way more than that, especially with the present Super Intelligence hype.

Well, there you have it: from FREE >>> $1499 in 12 months. My major focus is still and always /.Com/ (98% of my portfolio), but I try to grab other TLDs when I can, especially when it's FREE... Nothing beats FREE

I reduced the prices on some of my domains a few days ago, then boom, I woke up to this sale. It was initially priced at $2k, then I reduced it to $1499. I notice every time I initiate a price adjustment, I usually get a sale (happened back-to-back now). Maybe that's a sign I should start pricing my domains better - I'll start having a bucket for my low-priced, average-priced, and high-priced domains.

Alhamdulillah!
Another outbound domain sale completed.

I picked this domain from E.D. about 9 months ago. The negotiation went back and forth for almost two weeks. When it became clear the end user had genuine interest but was constrained by budget, I decided to make a compromise that worked for both sides.

What made this sale especially rewarding was that it felt like I was offering a genuine solution rather than just selling a domain.

Thanks to my ogas for your guidance throughout the negotiation and transaction process.

This is another reminder: keep learning, keep improving, and keep pushing. The results will come, inshaAllah.

Thanks be to God for this!

I got the idea to register this domain along with some others while researching how I could circumvent HugeDomains bots' attention when bidding for expired domains around October. An idea that I saw in one NamePros post led me to further research, since I still had access to UD's $5 .com pricing then and so I could experiment.

This was among 2 or 3 highest-priced domains in the set. I couldn't tell why I was a bit bullish about the name, except maybe I go back to my records. I don't usually price domains I am experimenting with high in the first year.

Good luck and blessed week ahead for everyone.

How my 2025 went.

Acquired 280 domains. (106 during one dot com $1.9/2 point something promo, while the remaining from Dreamhost, unstoppable and Z for $5). GEO/EMD. All hand reg.

I've probably worked on around 65% once and yet to work on 35%.

I worked on around 17 to 23 names monthly. Manual scraping and outbound.

Made 7 sales jan, 5 feb, 1 March, 3 April, May 0, June break , July 2, August 6, September 2, October 2, November 2, December 3.

Sold 33 total, all afternic lander. $369 average sale price. Sold only 2 from first email. The rest are offers which could even be at first email. While few are after price drops.

I price 988 for Geo while 1455 for EMDs. I send total of 4 to 5 emails follow up and stop at $300. I plan to do price drops to 150 or 100 when I revisit the domains for second round of outbound however I'll start from 988/1455

I counter or not to offers depending on the situation at hand.

Few tips that might help.

Utilize promos. I would have spent around $2,500 to acquire 280 names but it only cost me $1,117 or my $1,117 would have bought just around 124 domains. Good thing is that I still have domain to be busy on going to 2026.

If I see a niche, I check if there are cities or EMD available using namebright bulk searche. I Check if there are endusers. I find niche through sales reports, while scraping, or just when browsing/surfing the net or in my environment.

While scraping, you can sometimes find endusers email from their Facebook page. If no Facebook page or icon in the site, simply write "Facebook" in the front of the Business name or website in the search bar and search. It would bring out the Facebook page if there is one. Write " owner" or "leadership" if you want to find who the owner is.

Simple sales letter to control spam issues.

You can't just register 3 names and wonder why you didn't make 6 sales. Numbers is a big factor in this game. Register, work it and go to the next.

For every sale report you see, there are handful that didn't get sold.

In everything I use common sense, I evaluate options, consider pros and cons then decided what I prefer.

Everyones journey would be different because our creativity differs, information we have is different, how we assimilate and use information is different... Just do your best.
