Have anyone heard back from Embassy after interview?
My cousin’s interview was 19th August and the enrolment deadline is 15th October. Yet, they have not responded.
I’m really scared for him. He has done online enrolment but physical enrolment is still required. |

Alilory: Good morning my bosses nairalanders. I'm planning to enter school in Germany 2027. I will secure admission next year ending or eary 2027. I'm thinking of applying for appointment waiting list this year December, I want to know if it possible It is better to apply now. You can shift your appointment if you are not ready when they contact you. |

OluwaTofunmiiii: What about if someone's passport doesn't state the school; they just wrote some things in the corner of the passport for the work permit, and it is not the school I used for my interview, I enrolled in, I enrolled in another school.
Will there be any issue? Please, print the admission letter for the one you interviewed with. Tell them that is where you are going. My friend was deported back to Nigeria for exactly this error. He has to reapply from scratch with a lot of explaining to the embassy and the psychological trauma of touching down in Germany but didn’t enter the promised land. |

But I'm not going directly to the school, I'm going to my relative's place. Is that okay? Tell them that you are going to the school city. Once they stamp you in, you are free to go anywhere |

For first time travelers to Germany.
Please, hold your passport with visa inside. Most times, the school is stated in the visa. Secondly, hold your admission letter too. The immigration officers will ask you where you are going. Even if you intend going somewhere else, tell them that you are going to the school city. If you intend enrolling in a different school, don’t even mention it. They will send you back to Nigeria. I know someone who made such mistake. If they ask how you are getting to the city. Tell them that you will book train or someone will pick you at the airport if you don’t have cash. |

shawnmendes: Good day everyone
Please what can one expect from the airport officers while traveling? It's my first time.
Basically what are the protocols or procedures to keep to heart?
Thank you. Your admission letter should be printed out. Naija airport is not an issue. Just show ur visa. When you get to Germany, make sure that you are going to the school on your visa and tell the immigration authorities that you are going there. They may ask for your admission letter too. Safe trip |

pepakov581: Alright, thank you. I guess it would be best to delay the change of surname to avoid the bureaucratic stress and delays, right? It’s also good to change surname immediately after wedding. It won’t matter too. They will only ask for affidavit for name reconciliation. My wife did all this. Use the current passport to book appointment. |

pepakov581: Hi everyone,
I was thinking about my partner (we're not married yet) applying early for the reunion visa and in the 18 months+ when we get an appointment, we would have already completed the marriage and other formalities.
My question: is this allowed and/or could it cause issues during the appointment if they see that the date on the marriage certificate is later than when the visa application was first submitted? Best thing to do is to apply now. It won’t be an issue. |

This was sent to my wife on the same date as yours. In fact, she sent all the documents on the same date as yours. She equally doesn't need any verification as you. I would have thought it was my wife that enquired; she went for her interview four days earlier. Oh really? Have you or she heard from the embassy or ABH after submitting the documents? |

Kinglaz: Hello Everyone! I went for my Visa Interview in November 2024 and till date no Update from the Embassy. Please how can someone track the Visa Process after the Interview. The Embassy don‘t seem to reply to emails these days. I have messaged the ABH and the Bundesverwaltungsamt in Berlin as well, both of which haven't received my Visa Application.
Please does anyone have any other ideas? Hi It now takes approximately 4 months before embassy will process your visa after interview. If your documents are complete, they will send them to the ABH. If not they will email you to submit the missing documents. Do you need document verification or are you exempted? |

Travel › Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Enjay1998: 10:35am On Nov 20, 2024 |
MedBose: Regarding getting an appointment date for family reunification, there is the section on their booking system where you register for it. The embassy will get back to you when it is time. That’s why a lot of people are still waiting.
After your interview and submission of your application, you may be able to expedite the process. The family member in Germany can reach out to his ABH (Immigration office) with the application number of his/her family members. If the officer at the ABH finds your family’s application number on their system, then they can tell you the status of the application, for instance if it is still being processed by the German consulate in Lagos or if it has been moved to their office or another immigration office in another city - if within their purview, they may let you know what’s outstanding. Everything written here is true. The major issue is that the consulate general is not uploading data so that the ABH will be able to access the process. I have contacted the ABH severally. They told me that they couldn’t find my wife’s info on their system yet. It’s almost three months and we do not need verification. That’s so lazy of them at the consulate. |

Many thanks for your contributions. Hi I think your parents can do that for you or anyone related to you can go the LG council of your town and request for it in place of your parents. I would also want to know if your wife require verification? Also, have the ABH contacted you; if yes how long did it take? It has been two months now since my wife’s interview. I have not received any letter from ABH. We do not need verification since I am a researcher. The ABH told me that they have not heard from Lagos consulate. I wonder why it is taking so long. |

magnificient7: A good question.
@Arogz12 @Didibk
Did you guys pay for verification during your interview?
Also, others who have done their interviews, did you guys pay for the verification process? Are you applying only for yourself or with children? If your spouse in Germany is not a a researcher, you are definitely paying verification fee during interview and submitting A1 language certificate |
Travel › Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Enjay1998: 8:28pm On Sep 12, 2024 |
Kinglaz: Thank you for your Response.
Please also why is it that some people are being verified and others are being exempted from the Verification Process? Is there a specific criteria to be exmpted? Verification is exempted for people whose spouse is a researcher in Germany. Also A1 language is exempted too Sometimes even application fee is refunded but I do not know the criteria for that. |
