Nairaland GeneralResearch Reveals That Being In A Bad Mood Can Improve Your Brain’s Productivity by EntertainingYou(op): 8:37am On Jul 18, 2018
Being in an bad mood can enable certain individuals to think all the more proficiently as far as their capacity to center consideration, oversee time and organize undertakings, as per new research.

New research found that being in a bad mood can help some people’s executive functioning, such as their ability to focus attention, manage time and prioritize tasks. The same study found that a good mood has a negative effect on it in some cases.

Tara McAuley, a psychology professor at the University of Waterloo, and Martyn S. Gabel, a PhD candidate, explored whether our emotional reactivity shaped how mood influences the kinds of thinking skills we need to navigate the demands and stresses of day-to-day life. Emotional reactivity refers to the sensitivity, intensity and duration of our emotional responses associated with our mood.

“Our results show that there are some people for whom a bad mood may actually hone the kind of thinking skills that are important for everyday life,” said McAuley.

The high-reactive individuals – people who have rapid, intense, and enduring emotional responses – performed better on executive function tasks when experiencing a bad mood. Low-reactive individuals showed the opposite effect, with bad mood associated with worse executive functioning.

This pattern of results supports the view that a bad mood may help with some executive skills – but only for people who are more emotionally reactive.

“People shouldn’t interpret the results as saying it’s fine to fly off the handle or overreact, or to be grouchy,” said McAuley. “We know that emotional reactivity differs from person to person starting at a very early age and that these individual differences have implications for mental health later in development.”

Further research is needed to explain the relationship, but some studies suggest that high-reactive people are more accustomed to experiencing negative emotions. As such, bad moods may be less distracting for them compared with lower-reactive people.
The study included 95 participants, each of whom completed nine distinct tasks and questionnaires that measure the interplay of mood, emotional reactivity and various working memory and analytic challenges.

Well known Barcelona star and forward, Lionel Messi invested great energy with his family after a poor trip at the World Cup.

Argentine star, Lionel Messi who had a disappointing outing at the 2018 World Cup has been spotted sunbathing on a luxury yacht with wife Antonella Roccuzzo and friends in Ibiza.

The Barcelona superstar has little chance to unwind before pre-season training – after muted displays in Russia by both himself and Argentina.

And the 31-year-old took full advantage of the brief vacation with model Antonella, 30, who he first met aged 13.

PoliticsFighting Factors: Why PDP Lost Ekiti To APC by EntertainingYou(op): 9:36am On Jul 17, 2018
By Rwang Patrick Stephen

The 2018 Ekiti state gubernatorial election has traveled every which way. To be sure, the nascent democracy of Nigeria is flourishing. Our blossoming democratic journey is developing without question.
The event in Ekiti state has made thinkers, observers and watchers of politics, both at local, translocal, national and international levels to begin to ask the hallowed question of: “what went wrong in the PDP moving retrogressively backwards from 16/0 in 2014 to about 12/4 in favor of the APC in a state that was known as a ‘broomless’ state in 2014?”
For now, Ekiti is the only state in the southwest that is controlled by the PDP as well as the only state won by the PDP presidential candidate in 2015, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

The event calls for concern indeed. Like the legendary saying or maxim goes; “How are the mighty fallen? Gold has rust in Ekiti, what then would iron do?”
Some will argue that the Presidency played a role and the military and police were pro-APC. That fact and was applicable to the PDP victory in 2014 elections, where the state was said to have been militarized. But we mustn’t rely on the same baseless emotional attachment to sentiments. Money was used, as a core factor, and both parties played the money politics definitely.
The victory of Dr kayode Fayemi has been described as a hard fought battle by the presidency. That is true indeed.

CHALLENGES OF THE PDP THAT LED TO THEIR DOWNFALL IN EKITI STATE

1. IMPOSITION OF CANDIDATE: It was very clear, loud, and strong in the state the governor imposed his deputy against the wishes of so many members of the PDP. There were reactions, but Governor Fayose used his executive power to silence them. Some of the party members decamped or cross-carpeted to the APC. Some honourable members too did same. How then did you expect the PDP to come out victorious?
If the PDP had remained united and unanimously chose their candidate without any imposition, they would have come out victorious in the election. A house divided against itself shall fallout.

2. LACK OF PAYMENT OF SALARY TO CIVIL SERVANTS IN THE STATE:
There is a concept in Ekiti state known as ‘Stomach Infrastructure’. This is a nomenclature posed by the Fayose regime. No one is arguing about the authenticity of the stomach project, but paying the people their monthly salaries is very necessary. People are becoming wiser by the day. Any form of stomach analysis without bank alert to the workers ends in failure. The PDP missed it here, the same thing happened in plateau state. The government owed civil servants about six (6) months salaries into the 2015 elections, and they lost because of the owing factor.

3. DISCONNECTION FROM THE PRESUMED GRASSROOTS CONNECTION OF THE PDP: Governor Fayose has over the years been bragging about his grassroots connection. Let be clear on this point, it is very easy for the governor to gather youths in the Ado Ekiti metropolis to walk with him. It is another thing for him to have huge acceptability in all the remaining sixteen (16) local government areas. If truly he controls the grassroots as acclaimed, why didn’t they deliver his party in the just concluded elections? There was an election in Anambra state and the governor won the election because of his massive link to the people at the grassroots. Gov Ayo Fayose says things that never exist. In all ramifications, he lacks that grassroots connection in totality.

4. PRESUMPTUOUS PROPAGANDA: It was very worrisome to note that while Dr Fayemi was busy working hard to victory, the PDP camp were busy looking for propaganda to sell in other to gather or get sympathy. In politics, one thing is sure, number. Instead of gathering the taxi drivers and motorcycle riders in Ado Ekiti by the governor, he would have been busy in one of the local government that day mobilizing and campaigning for PDP. Another off strategy of the PDP was the police incidents teargas. Instead of the victory walk, he should have gone to an interior local government to campaign. Insulting the president was another mistake that was unnecessary.
The PDP in Ekiti failed to work. Rather was basing on propaganda to lure in the international community for possible intervention. That’s not good and correct at all.

5. WEAKNESS OF THE PDP CANDIDATE OR WEAK MOBILIZATION OF THE PDP CANDIDATE: While the APC candidate was busy working for his victory, the PDP candidate was just in government house receiving instructions and allowed his boss to do the work for him. He was not showing any meaningful seriousness to the people of the state on his capability and agility to lead. He forgot that his boss is not going to be the governor but him. There was a disconnect between him and the people. All what Ekiti people sees was Fayose. It is not Fayose they want to hear or see buy the governorship candidate. He never acted on his own to show the people his ability, he depended on the popularity of the governor. That’s not correct.

STRENGTH OF THE APC
1. Identification of PDP weakness: The APC maximized the loopholes discovered in the PDP. They took advantage of the weakness of the PDP candidate. They heard what they people said about his inability to represent himself. It worked for them, congratulations.

2. Blocking of PDP strongholds: The governor-elect did his homework very well. He lost to the PDP in 2014 and decided to study and understudy the system again. He knew the strength point of the PDP in the state and decides to block them from area of strength.
He also knew the local government areas he was popular in and build the bond there solidly.
The PDP failed to do this. They were busy doing mouth work while Fayemi was working.

3. Past experience knowledge: It is said “once beating twelve shy” the governor elect knew how it feels to lose. He vowed to work hard and avenge the disgrace while the PDP was busy sleeping on past glories of 2014. Experience worked and aided the victory of APC. Inexperience worked against the PDP. Lesson for all to learn from.

4. Military and police: it is arguably to say that same thing was done in 2014. Both parties are guilty of this. So the APC claimed they are doing something the PDP did while in power. Onlookers and observers described the APC use of military as worse. But the military and police has declined colliding with APC. They have said time and again that they are apolitical.
If the PDP did it home work correctly, they would have won. Many states have succeeded in past despite military presence.
As a political scientist, we look into the polity with our political microscope and political eyeglasses, to think deeply into the political jamboree and rigmarole in the state. We look beyond propaganda and political correctness. We investigate happenings to proffer solutions.

As discussed above. Other states governors are advised not to repeat the mistake make in Ekiti state. The fact that you are a seating governor doesn’t mean you can’t be unseat.
Political gladiators and leviathans must learn to work for themselves, not allowing others to work for them. Ekiti state has been described as an uncommon state of surprises. The PDP needs to seat up in the forthcoming Osun election. If the learn from the Ekiti mistake, they may come out victorious. Security maybe much but only the strong would survive the political drill.
APC is a ruling party, but the hard work of the governor-elect spoke for him. This victory is about grazing reserve, cattle colony or ranches, rather it is about the people of Ekiti.

CareerWidow Who Rides A Keke Napep For A Living Shares Her Emotional Story (photos) by EntertainingYou(op):
A hardworking widow who lost her husband while she was pregnant has narrated the emotional story of how she turned to commercial transport business to make a living.

While speaking in an exclusive interview with Splufikstory, an elderly Nigerian woman who lost her husband while she was pregnant with their third child, shared the story of how she turned to a commercial tricyclist (Keke Napep) to make a living.
The widow said she had been in the frozen foods business before her husband died, adding that after his death she was robbed.
She revealed further that she began to sell provisions after pleading with her friends to borrow her capital, adding that she was robbed three times while selling the provisions and she was left in debt.

She had to give up on the business the third time she was robbed because she was already in so much debt, and began the keke napep business in September, 2017, after collecting a loan of N1 million to buy the tricycle.
According to her, she pays N16,100 weekly to make up for the loan. She, however, stated that she doesn’t like the job because of the risk, adding that she had a terrible accident recently and her tricycle summersaulted, leaving her hospitalised for a week.

“I used to sell frozen foods when my husband was still alive. He died when I was one month pregnant with my last of 3 children. I was still managing at the shop until thieves came to rob and carted everything away. The suffering became intense as a widow with no source of income.
After so much begging, my friends helped me raise money to start a new business. I started collecting and selling provisions and soft drinks in wholesale. But this time, I got robbed thrice. After the first robbery, I managed to borrow money from people to restock a little, but as soon as I started making profit, thieves came again and packed everything.

The manager of the depot where I was collecting goods felt pity for me so I was given goods on loan with the agreement that I will pay back as soon as I start making profit. For the third time, thieves came again. Honestly, I don’t know if I was being setup, but I’ve handed everything to God. I’m still in debt at the depot as we speak. I had to sell my generator to pay back a little from what I owed, so they’ve agreed to allow me pay N4,000 weekly until my debt is cleared. I’ll complete the payment by August.
I started this Marwa business on September 9 last year. I collected it on loan for N1million and I’ve been paying back N16,100 weekly. I was told that if I don’t complete the payment by November this year, they will collect it back, but if I do, it will become mine fully. That was our agreement and I’ve been paying them weekly for 10 months now.
Honestly, I still prefer frozen foods business because this keke business has too much wahala. I had an accident last month, a bus driver hit my keke from behind and it summersaulted thrice.

I regained consciousness in the hospital where I spent a week and then another two weeks at home. I only just resumed work again three days ago after I noticed my children were crying of hunger. I still feel pains in my legs and left hand.”

CrimeRead The Touching Stories Of People Displaced By Fulani Herdsmen In Plateau by EntertainingYou(op): 8:47am On Jul 17, 2018
The story has been recounted the stark resilience of people who have been uprooted from their homes by the rampaging Fulani herders.

“It’s better to face death than run away and allow Fulani herdsmen to conquer our land for grazing.” This is the sentiment resonating across the 17 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps, spread across Barkin-Ladi, Riyom and Jos South local government areas, where scores of survivors of the armed herders butchery have resolved to take the perilous option of going back to their abandoned homes following news of a growing pattern of herdsmen settling down in their communities after staging wipe-out attacks. One of such massacres claimed at least 230 lives on Saturday, June 23, 2018.

Spearheading the “return home” resolution are aged folks from rural communities in Barkin-Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas. The men and women, speaking with Saturday Sun express their resolve to take their fate into their hands as a last-gasp effort to reclaim their land which they alleged is being systematically occupied by the Fulani who dislodged them with violence.
They have resolved to return to their respective villages on or before today, Saturday, July 14, 2018.

A brigade of old-and-ready-to-die refugees

Pa Bulus Pam, an 82-year-old resident of Ngnar village of Gashish District, Barkin-Ladi Local Government is currently a refugee at Riyom Com- munity Hall IDP camp. The octogenarian survived the bloody bloodshed unscathed, but at a great cost, losing nine members of his family, including his wife, son and two grandchildren, in a killing spree that claimed 72 lives. Ngnar village was completely razed to the ground by the marauders.

Following the death of a fellow villager, Dachollom Bature, 70, last weekend at the Riyom Mini Depot camp, Pam came out of his inertia. Now he is resolved to return to his ancestral home, ready to be martyred protecting his village from forceful occupation.
“I know the mission of the herdsmen, some of them are troublemakers,” he says, “They caused trouble by killing people in a terrified manner to create fear so that the villagers can run away and leave the land for them.”
He tells Saturday Sun: “I will not yield to their threat, I prefer to die in my village than live as a slave elsewhere.” He adds: “Now that people have run away from the village, they have the whole day to graze directly into our farmlands and destroy the crops. I have been informed that cows and the goats now graze on the farm without restriction, that is why I am determined to return home now and face death.”

After surviving a deadly raid with a colossal loss that includes three family members, home and property, Sunday Malang, 68, is infuriated at the news that his crops have become livestock feed as cattle graze without restriction across the farmlands in Kuzun village. Though traumatised by the bloodbath of Sunday, June 24, Malang vows to return home this weekend to contend with the herdsmen.
“Staying in the camp is like being in a prison. I don’t have the freedom to do anything, and that includes even food and a place to sleep. I have made up my mind to go home this Saturday. It is better to die defending my ancestral home than become a permanent slave in the camp while herdsmen walked freely in my village.”

Mrs Kazaura Danjuma echoes the same sentiment. Danjuma, 69, from Shonong village is presently a refugee at the Geo-Sciences IDPs camp. She also prefers to go home and die honourably than becoming a perpetual beggar in the camp. “I am not any better than my relations who were killed. Seeing women and children clustered in the camp gives me concern. If we all remain here, the Fulani will take over our villages. There are places in Shonong II that no natives can go there today. The Fulani are cultivating the land. Some have even built there without permission. We will not allow that to happen. We will go back and occupy our lands.”
Mahand Badung, 80, had stubbornly refused to leave his homeland when others were running for their lives, not until he came close to being bludgeoned to death and had to escape by lying on the ground and pretended to be dead.
He is still haunted by the memory of the harrowing experience. “The Fulani packed out our foodstuff and other valuable items in the village and set the houses on fire,” he reminisces.

Sorrowful recounts

A farmer, Iliya Gwap, 57, gave Saturday Sun the most vivid account of the unimaginable killings that uprooted them from their native homelands.
His words: “We were in a church for the burial of an elderly man when the news came that a woman had been killed at Gindi-Akwati and another, a relative of the deceased, attacked and killed at Kura Falls.

“We hurriedly carried out the corpse from the church to the grave site and buried it. As we were returning home, we noticed that Fulanis were evacuating their children and women using motorcycles to a safe place, while those who have returned changed their clothes to black.

“I noticed this because we live almost in the same village and we were very close with them. Suddenly, I saw a group of Fulani numbering 30 persons gathered in one house. A few minutes later, I saw a different group of 27 going into a different house all dressed in black cloth. I immediately alerted the security operatives about the convergence and we were advised to be on alert and to also inform neighbouring villages about the gathering, which we did. We asked the five police officers on the ground to assist us by requesting for more military officers.

“Seven military men came in a vehicle and the police explained to them about the gathering of the Fulani. The military men came from their vehicle and walked around without going close to the Fulani gathering and a few minutes later boarded their vehicle and left for Kakuru. “When the Fulani noticed that the military had gone, seven of them came out with weapons and started shooting. We ran to the five policemen who told us their weapon was no match for the Fulani’s and that they too were running for their lives. We followed them and later met the military officers along the way who told us that Kakuru is also not safe and that houses were seen burning in the community. They took us to Kura Falls where the military was camped.

“We slept at the military camp that night. The following morning, we started searching for those that were missing. Some people were killed and the entire village burnt down. We joined the vehicle conveying the corpses to the mortuary and made it to the IDPs Camp.”

He concludes his narration in an emotion-laden voice: “I went to the village after the attack. There was no house standing. They set the entire buildings on fire. Our properties were not spared. They took away some of the properties and burnt the houses. My goat was also taken away.” A further account by Sunday Vogam, 82, expanded the big picture: “The herdsmen invaded our community at about 2 am on Sunday with heavy shooting, unfortunately, they killed 8 persons and six corpses were later recovered while 10 houses were burnt.

“I wanted to run for safety but I realized that they will overrun me and I decided to hide myself close to my house. When they came, they couldn’t see me but move straight to my house and remove all my property and set them on fire.

“I watched them killed two persons and set most of the houses on fire. I couldn’t intervene because I had nothing to defend myself. After that, I ran to where the military was stationed in the village but none of them was on the ground.

“Women and children jumped through the windows that night to survive. It was only God that help some of them. The children and some of us slept inside water that night until good Samaritans from other villages came to rescue us. “The women trekked with children for more than six kilometres to Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State. I joined a military vehicle that came to convey corpses to the mortuary to the IDPs camp.”

Cry for help

In the meantime, the Berom ethnic nationality of Plateau State has decried the deplorable condition at the various Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps.
The camps, harbouring over 38, 000 people, are located across five local government areas in the state. A joint statement signed by executives of Berom Educational and Cultural Organization (BECO), Berom Women Development Association, (BEWDA), and Youth Moulders Association, describes the condition of IDPs in the camps as pitiable and dehumanizing.

“The camps lack basic facilities and services such as toilets, water, beds, medical care, food, sanitation and are poorly managed and insecure currently. Most of the camps are overcrowded thereby making victims of gruesome attacks vulnerable to the outbreak of diseases,” reads the statement. The group expressed worry that most children at the camps had missed their examination and do not know when to return to school.

They also urged National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to provide more facilities and increase supplies to the camps, while appealing to faith-based organizations, international charity organizations, and the United Nations High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR) to come to the rescue of the displaced persons.

PoliticsType Of Candidates Nigerians Should Support In 2019– Catholic Caritas Foundation by EntertainingYou(op): 8:29am On Jul 17, 2018
As the 2019 decision moves closer, Nigerian Catholic Priests have shown the kind of applicants they should vote in for a superior Nigeria.

Nigerian Catholic priests have appealed to the electorates to study the antecedents of candidates in less known political parties and vote for them in the 2019 general election, according to Daily Post.

The priests under the aegis of Catholic Caritas Foundation of Nigeria (CCFN) and Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), two agencies of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) while congratulating APC candidate, Kayode Fayemi, on his victory, in a statement on Monday by Rev. Fr. Evaristus Bassey, Director of CCFN and Executive Secretary of JDPC, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conduct of the election.

They also advised all other parties, especially the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to “accept their defeat in the good spirits of sportsmanship as was exemplified by Fayemi in his earlier defeat and by the excellent example of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, who in our opinion deserves a Noble Prize for Peace by the very fact of his concession in the 2015 Presidential Election.”

The statement reads: “Caritas Nigeria and JDPC, the relief and development organs of the CBCN join well meaning Nigerians in congratulating Kayode Fayemi as governor-elect of Ekiti State in a keenly contested gubernatorial election.

“From reports on ground from our observers, INEC did a credible job, and if there was anyone that attempted to compromise the process, it was the two major political parties, with their strategy of vote buying. INEC has demonstrated transparency in the declaration of results, and we hope that leading to the 2019 elections, the same transparency would suffice.

“Let no one be deceived that Ekiti people voted for a political party; they certainly voted for Fayemi because they could compare his previous tenure with that of the outgoing governor. We use this opportunity therefore to urge Nigerians to, come 2019, vote for credible candidates irrespective of their political party.

“Nigerians should take time and study the antecedents of candidates in less known political parties and vote for them, so that we do not keep on recycling people with baggage that is inimical to the common good. Only garbage is good enough for recycling.

“Caritas Nigeria and JDPC once again urge politicians to be mindful of their utterances and their actions, as they may not be able to control the consequences. Whatever should promote goodwill and understanding should be pursued against a political space that is fast becoming a vent for insipid and infantile egoistic projections.

“We are however concerned that a nationwide election with a paucity of security personnel spread thin might throw a challenge to the outcome, as security men may be overwhelmed by party faithful who employ touts to carry out ballot snatching and other forms of rigging.”

Romance9 Successful Ways To Talk To Women And Make Them Love You by EntertainingYou(op): 6:29am On Jul 12, 2018
Men are from Mars, women are from Venus. At least this is what we have been told.

There was a book written with that title awhile back and to me, it served to create the illusion that men and women are polar opposites in terms of species and have little hope of ever really understanding each other.

What this author did not realize is that man as individuals are very different from each other. You cannot start an argument with “Men are all ……” and not look ignorant, because all men aren’t anything.

The same is true with women. Not all women are alike. What makes each person wonderful is that they are individuals. They each have their own loves and hates, hopes and dreams.

I know this looks hopeless. If all women are different individuals with different tastes and ideas, how in the name of all things Holy can you learn to talk to each and every one of them? Fear not! What I am about to share with you is a secret. It is the secret of how to talk to anyone no matter who they are and to build interest and ultimately love with them.

1. Look past the façade and see the real person beneath it.
Underneath the clothing of skin and bones, we are perfect people. We have crappy baggage and things in our past that haunt us but these things are not us and we know that.

No one likes to be reminded of the bad parts of themselves or their painful past. What we are most proud of is who we are innately. We are most proud of the perfect person underneath. When you talk to a woman (or a man or a child) look for the perfect person and talk to him or her.

In some people it is easier to see this perfect person than in others, and in some it is so hidden by strange pseudo personalities and other weird baggage that it is almost absent. If the person you are talking to makes it too hard to access that perfect person underneath, move on. Find someone who doesn’t have as much baggage. And whatever you do, don’t waste your time talking to pseudo personalities. They just aren’t worth it.

2. Take the time to build common ground and understanding.
Practice this skill. Go to the supermarket or somewhere where you will have to interact with people. When you get to the check out, find something you like about the checkout person.

I find that women love jewelry and take time and effort to choose and wear pieces that look nice. If you find a piece of jewelry on them and you comment favorably to them about it, you will be met with the person looking up and seeingyou and not some nameless, faceless person. They will automatically start feeling a little better about you.

3. Let the person talk about herself.
This is the easy part. You don’t have to be dazzling or brilliant. All you have to be is a good listener and respond with things that are pertinent to the subject at hand. It really is a piece of cake.

For example, you have just commented favorably on a piece of jewelry (or a sweater or scarf) and the conversation has started. Generally they will tell you a little bit about the piece. “Oh, my mom bought it for me for my birthday!’ You then smile and say “What a great mom you have!” or something that you know she will agree with.

Resist with all your might the impulse to start talking about yourself. This conversation is all about her. If you keep this up each time you go through the checkout line, you will find that soon you are friends. From there an invitation for coffee is a perfect next step to get to know each other better.

4. Avoid subjects on which you do not agree.
There is no quicker way to make someone hate your guts than to take an opposing viewpoint to theirs and then try to convince them that they are wrong. Let’s say your adorable check out person has accepted your invite for coffee! Yay!  This is a big step. Don’t blow it now by trying to impress her with how smart, big, or strong you are, and how dumb, weak, and misguided she is. If you do this, this will be your last date and you will have no one to blame but yourself. Instead find things that you agree on.

If you disagree on politics, avoid that subject like a five day old burrito stub that you have just dug up from under the sofa because your negative comments on the subject will be just about as welcome. Stick to the things you wholeheartedly agree on and you will be fine.

5. Don’t violate her personal space.
Your adorable clerk is a woman. She has had her share of guys trying to cosy up to her and get close. Respect her by giving her space. Trying to move in too close when she is not ready for that is a violation of her limits. To her this may mean that if you violate limits now, who knows what limits will be violated when she allows you into her world?

6. Get your personal hygiene handled!
Brush your teeth and comb your hair. Don’t stink at all! I know I shouldn’t have to say this but sometimes people don’t know they stink. Make sure you don’t! If you just had coffee and a cigarette, chew some gum or something!

Check your teeth and make sure you don’t have anything stuck in them. Don’t look all rumpled unless it is sexy rumpled. Pay a little attention to your wardrobe. Look clean and don’t wear old threadbare clothes. No one will respect you if you don’t respect yourself and your outward appearance is an indicator of your respect level for yourself.

Don’t worry if you are a little overweigh or feel you are too short or have any other personal attribute that bothers you. Most people don’t even notice these things. If they do and do not want to talk to you because of them, they are not worth it anyway. Move on! There are many wonderful ladies out there who are looking for a caring and nice person like you.

7. What about gifts?
Most people love gifts but there are times when gifts are unwelcome. Let’s say you and your beautiful clerk are now having dinner together this evening. It is perfectly appropriate to give her flowers but don’t give her flowers, chocolate in a heart shaped box and a new car.

She does not want to be put under an obligation and too many gifts make her feel that she now has to do something for you. While this may sound great, it feels awful. Have you ever shown up at work and forgotten that it was pot luck day and you brought nothing? How did you feel? Did you go around telling everyone that you forgot it was pot luck day and then ate only chips? Did you sneak out the back and give the whole thing a miss because the obligation was just too much? Do you see what I mean?

If you want to impress her, wash and clean your car. Ask her what kind of movie she likes or what she likes to eat and make reservations at a restaurant you know she will love. Take time to create an evening that she will find magical. What will impress her is the care you took and the respect you had for her to take that time.

8. Choose wisely!
Remember! Not all women are desirable just because they are women or because they are pretty. A pretty snake can still kill you and a woman who is negative, antagonistic, or passive aggressive (also referred to as covertly hostile) will make your life, and the life of any children you may have, miserable.

Think ahead before getting serious. If you find that your future girlfriend is one of these types, give her a hearty “So long, farewell, auf wiedershen and don’t let the screen door hit you in the ass on the way out!”

A warm and loving woman with a twinkle in her eye and a sense of humor is far more desirable than a pretty psycho. Beauty can fade over time when it is only on the surface. Real beauty that you see when you see the perfect person underneath is forever. Life is a tough game and only someone who has integrity, compassion and commitment will be there for you when you really need her.

The others, if they are self centered or psycho will be long gone the minute you need a friend the most.

9. Recognize when she is not interested and move on.
Let’s face it, even though you are wonderful, dazzling and brilliant, you may not be someone’s cup of cherries or bowl of tea as far as future boyfriend material is concerned. It happens. If it is clear that she does not want a relationship, then ok. You are not wrong and neither is she. Perhaps you can be friends. One can never have too many nice people in one’s life.

Business4 Reasons The Rich Are Getting Richer (how You Can Join Them) by EntertainingYou(op): 12:15am On Jul 09, 2018
Let’s argue this out once and for all! The poor are getting poorer while the rich are getting richer because; there is injustice in this country, the government is not looking after the welfare of the poor, the rich are amassing wealth unduly, and the rich are selfish.

Are all these are correct, right? WRONG! Let me show you five reasons why the rich are getting richer.

Why are the rich getting richer and the poor always complaining? When I mean the rich, I don’t mean the Adenuga’s, Dangote’s, and other billionaires – those ones are far away from us. I mean the young hustlers who are making so much money from the internet that people now think they are into Yahoo Yahoo.

If after reading, you can click to see this wonderful business idea you can use and make money for yourself, and become financially free.

1. The Rich Love Learning About Anything That Brings Money
The best way to spot someone who has no plans to work hard is to see them shout “scam” when a wonderful money making idea is presented to them.

Talks like “if you are making so much money, why are you sharing it?” is something that is common. They forget the fact that we are 170 Million people in Nigeria, which means that the market is extremely large for anyone to offer a service and make money.

Give a rich man an idea; he doesn’t castigate the idea till he has tried it several times without any headway.

2. Working Hard Is Another
When I mean Hard work, I don’t mean standing under the sun or being busy. Hard work is something most of us don’t have.

Have you ever tried something more than 10x and it didn’t work, yet you continued?

Have you ever engaged in a business that didn’t yield initial success until after 2 years, yet you continued?

When I say hard work, I mean putting your body and mind, striving till you find success.

Most poor people try something for just a month, and the next thing you hear is “It doesn’t work.” If success comes so easy, everyone would have been a millionaire in Nigeria.

3. The Rich Diversify, The Poor Are Single Income
So what’s the difference now? Anything that would generate cash is a welcome idea, whether risky or not. But the poor man prefers to have his money where he can see it every day and have a sense of pride.

The poor man is loyal to his boss, he wants to just earn his income and be happy. Instead of looking for extra means to make money, he is just comfortable with his single income. The moment his only source of income seizes, he goes back to his original state; “poor”.

4. The Rich Don’t Sleep; The Poor Love Sleeping
This might be quite funny, but if you want to make $$$ from the internet, then you have to be awake when the white man is also awake. Time-zone is quite different, so there isn’t much luxury of sleeping.

Staying up at night and watching your favourite TV program is the same as sleeping because you are being unproductive. If you have stayed close to a rich man before, you would discover that Nighttime is when the money is actually made.

Because the ideas, strategies generated at night is what brings the money during the day.

So what is it about the rich and the poor?

It is a clear case of good use of time. While the one uses his time for daydreaming, chasing fantasies and living in Wish Island, the other is planning, executing, and making profits.

As long as there is a sharp difference in the use of time between the rich and the poor, the rich will keep getting richer while the poor will keep getting poorer.

Romance16 Key Peculiarities Of Dating An Independent Woman by EntertainingYou(op): 5:43am On Jul 08, 2018
Seems like everything’s clear about dating. There are two people who like each other and want to try their luck together. However, the conception of femininity rapidly changes in the modern world. We face an increasing number of strong women today. Their images are cultivated by pop culture, their life circumstances push to accrue power. She loves who she is. When a growing person goes through some difficulties and becomes strong, it is another way of self-realization. She has chosen to be independent and enjoys it now. Thus, you shouldn’t expect she will change her patterns of behavior.

1.Prepare to be a part of her life. Yes, only a part – not the sense of it. Her life is already full: there are career goals to achieve, hobbies to immerse in, her friends and family etc. And, strictly speaking, it is a healthy way of thinking.

2.She will tend to refuse your help. Of course, this doesn’t mean she will never accept it at all. Yet this woman is self-reliant and knows her worth. She might even feel uncomfortable about getting your assistance.

3.Your connection can be very inspiring. Strong people with remarkable accomplishments do give inspiration. Likewise, your girlfriend will seek it in you. In other words, such a woman looks for valuable communication with a man.
4.You will receive a lot of freedom. An independent girl loves to be free so she will likely fall for an independent man. If you are such a man, it is a big plus – you can manage your working tasks or go out with your buddies.

5.She doesn’t want to deal with your jealousy. It is easy to guess that a self-sufficient lady is unready to give up her interests (especially when you pressure on her). By the way, her schedule is often too busy to cheat on you.

6.Yet she still wants to be loved. Her qualities do not make her an alien. Just like any woman, she longs for appreciation, support, advice, and devotion.

7.She needs someone compatible. It’s clear that her relationship with a needy guy won’t last long. Any girl dreams about a partner who would share her life values and views and possess similar traits.

8.She is not afraid of being single. Love is super important in our life but this is not the only treasure we should search for. Besides, there are periods of time when we just want to take a break and focus on some other things.

9.Don’t think she ought to do anything. The mere fact she is your girlfriend doesn’t mean you can put obligations on her against her will. On the other hand, independent people are usually open for discussion. Search for compromises together!

10.She might be (or seem to be) emotionally unavailable. Again, there are many issues outside your relationship that excite or trouble her. Don’t expect her to be overly affectionate even though you definitely know she loves you. Today, young and busy ladies perceive romance differently.

11.She doesn’t like to play stupid games. Like when you take a step forward and two steps back. This may work with dependent girls who don’t know how to entertain themselves. Girls we are talking about in this article are much more determined.
12.Her character is rather peculiar. She may turn out to be stubborn, demanding, bold, aggressive etc. So yeah, this might be scary a little bit. At the same time, these qualities are splendid if people know how to use them right.

13.She is able to take the initiative. Another big perk of dating her is that she can be proactive. Since she doesn’t tend to rely on anyone, she is less afraid of doing deeds. Her self-esteem is adequate enough so even if you think she is a weirdo, this girl won’t really care.

14.She looks for the right person to marry or have a long-term relationship with. Independent girls are usually picky. Keep this in mind and become the bets version of yourself!

15.Her love is pure. You see, a woman if this type can earn money and maintain herself. She is a grown person who is able to manage various problems. If she loves you, it is all because of your rich individuality, not your wealth or social status.

Nairaland General10 Communication Secrets Of Great Leaders by EntertainingYou(op): 4:11pm On Jul 07, 2018
Great leaders connect with people on an emotional level every time they speak. Their words inspire others to achieve more than they ever thought possible.

Great communicators are intentional about it, and there are 10 secrets they rely on to deliver a powerful m..!.G. ...m b non b no essage. Put these secrets to work in your communication and watch your influence soar.

1. They Know Their Audience
Great communicators don’t worry about sounding important, showing off their expertise, or boosting their own egos. Instead, they think about what people need to hear, and how they can deliver this message so that people will be able to hear it. This doesn’t mean that leaders tell people what they want to hear. Quite the opposite—they tell people what’s important for them to know, even if it’s bad news.

2. They Are Experts In Body Language
Great communicators are constantly tracking people’s reactions to their message. They are quick to pick up on cues like facial expressions and body language because they know this is the only feedback many people will give them. Great communicators use this expertise to tailor their message on the fly and adjust their communication style as needed.

3. They Are Honest
The best leaders know that for communication to be effective it has to be real. They can’t have people parsing every word trying to separate fact from spin. When great communicators can’t share certain information, they come right out and say it because makeshift, half-truth answers breed distrust and anxiety. In good times and bad, honesty builds trust.

4. They Are Authentic
Great communicators don’t try to be someone they’re not just because they’ve stepped behind a podium. There’s a reason Mark Zuckerberg presented Facebook to investors in a hoodie and jeans. Great leaders know that when they stay true to who they are, people gravitate to their message. They also know the opposite happens when leaders put on an act.

5. They Speak With Authority
Great communicators don’t try to cover their backs by being ambiguous, wishy-washy, or unassertive. Instead, they stick their necks out and speak very directly about how things are and how they need to be.

6. They Speak To Groups As Individuals
Leaders rarely have the luxury of speaking to one person at a time. Whether it’s a huddle around a conference table or an overflowing auditorium, great leaders know how to work the room and make every single person feel as if he or she is being spoken to directly.

7. They Have Ears (And They Use Them)
Great leaders know that communication is a two-way street and what they hear is often more important than what they say. When someone else is speaking, great communicators aren’t thinking ahead and planning what they’ll say next. Instead, they’re actively listening, fully focused on understanding the other person’s perspective.

8. They Use Phrases Like “It’s My Fault,” “I Was Wrong,” and “I’m Sorry”
When great leaders make a mistake, they admit it right away. They don’t wait for someone else to find and point out their blunder. They model accountability for their words and actions, even when they could have easily “gotten away” with the mistake. And they do it matter-of-factly, without drama or false humility.

9. They Solicit Feedback
The best communicators never assume that the message people heard is the exact same one they intended to deliver. They check in to verify that their message was understood correctly, and, if it was not, they don’t blame the audience. Instead, they change things up and try again.

10. They’re Proactive
Leaders with the best communication skills don’t waste time playing catch-up. They’re quick to head off the rumor mill by sharing bad news in a timely manner. They also give clear, concise goals and directions so people don’t waste their time heading in the wrong direction.

Bringing It All Together
Great communicators stand out from the crowd. They’re honest. They’re authentic. They listen. They excel in communication because they value it, and that’s the critical first step to becoming a great leader.

What other strategies make for great communication? Please share your thoughts on leadership and communication in the comments section below, as I learn just as much from you as you do from me.
