The Nigerian Union in South Africa (NUSA) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in Friday’s killing of another Nigerian in South Africa.

The Publicity Secretary of the union in South Africa, Mr Habib Salihu, made the appeal on Tuesday from Pretoria, South Africa. He said the victim, James Ekeh, 36, an indigene of Imo, was killed at Mabopane Station near Pretoria by unknown assailants.

“Since Ebuka (another victim) was killed in Rustenburg more than two months ago without any arrest or prosecution, no fewer than six Nigerians have been brutally murdered.

“These killings came without any meaningful intervention to bring the perpetrators to book irrespective of their nationality,’’ he said. Salihu said that Ekeh, a tomato trader at Mabopane market in Pretoria, was shot several times by unknown gunmen.

He said the victim was killed at the same spot where another Nigerian, Victor Onazi, was shot dead less than three weeks ago.

“Four other Nigerians were also shot dead in Johannesburg area less than two months ago. “ This means that an average of one Nigerian is gunned down every week,’’ he added.

Salihu said that rage and animosity by Nigerians toward South Africans might become uncontrollable if nothing was done to stop the killings.

The latest killing of Ekeh brings the number of Nigerians killed in the former apartheid enclave since February, 2016 to 119. No fewer than 800,000 Nigerians, mostly young people, are believed to reside in South Africa.

Leicester City forward, Ahmed Musa has vowed that the Super Eagles will beat Argentina in the last group match at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Musa said they are confident of defeating the South Americans after their decisive 2-0 win against Iceland on Friday in Volgograd.

Musa was the hero for Nigeria as his second-half brace gave his side the all-important win.

Argentina were held to a 1-1 draw by Iceland and suffered a 3-0 trouncing in the hands of group leaders, Croatia.

Jorge Sampaoli’s men must now beat the Super Eagles and hope Iceland do not get a favourable result against Croatia also on Tuesday, to proceed to the next stage.

“Football is a game. You win or you lose. But we are not going to St. Petersburg to lose,” Musa, who is Nigeria’s top scorer in World Cups with four goals, told FIFA media.

“We want to win and we know that we can do it.”

Paul Pogba wants to help France win the 2018 World Cup as he is “realistic” over the possibility of never playing in the tournament again.

The Manchester United midfielder has helped Les Bleus record wins over Australia and Peru in Russia, sending them through to the last 16 with a game to spare in Group C.

However, Didier Deschamps’ side has yet to dazzle ahead of their clash with second-place Denmark on Tuesday, with Pogba’s performances once again coming under intense media scrutiny.

However, having missed out on glory on home soil at Euro 2016, where France lost to Portugal in the final, the 25-year-old is less interested in what his critics have to say and is instead focused only on making sure France lift the trophy on July 15.

“Maybe it’s my last World Cup, we do not know,” he told reporters.

“I’m really enjoying myself, I’m going to forget the critics, do my talking on the pitch as it’s the only answer.

“I give my best for my jersey, my team, for France. I really want to win this World Cup.”

Asked why it could be his last tournament, considering his age, Pogba replied: “I’m realistic about the fact that it may be my last World Cup.

“We do not know what’s going to happen tomorrow, maybe I’ll be injured or there will be players who will outperform me.

“But I hope to do more than one. Some players do not even play one World Cup in their careers.”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dropped the ‘Change’ slogan and adopted ‘Progress’ as its new slogan.

Vanguard reports that the party made this change at its convention on Sunday, June 24.

One of the masters of ceremonies at the convention reportedly announced that delegates should no longer chorus ‘Change’ anytime the name of the party is chanted.

He said:-

“I want to announce that when shout APC, the appropriate response should now be Progress and not Change”.



Articles 4 of the APC Constitution as amended lists ‘Change’ as the slogan of the party and it has not been amended yet.

Meanwhile, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Bola Tinubu has reportedly accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of plotting to loot the country’s treasury for 60 years.

The Punch reports that the former Lagos state governor’s allegation was contained in a goodwill message released on Saturday, June 23 after the party’s convention.

Tinubu said many people were against the formation of the APC and did all they could to stop the merger.

He alleged that the doubters forged different tactics to prevent the APC’s formation.

A Bulawayo-based cop allegedly engaged in a secret romance with his wife’s younger sister and impregnated her apparently in a bid to spite his “abusive and disrespectful” wife.

Tabani Nyurura had not only betrayed the love and trust his wife Mavis Munedzimwe, a student at Great Zimbabwe University invested in him by having an affair with her younger sister but was also reportedly in the habit of taking girlfriends to their matrimonial home during her absence.

To make matters worse, Nyurura is resolute on marrying Munedzimwe’s younger sister and contemplating showing her (Munedzimwe) a red card.

Nyurura’s illicit sexual affair with his sister-in-law was exposed by his wife at the Bulawayo Civil Court where he was seeking a protection order against her.

“I had been staying with Mavis Munedzimwe as husband and wife but she is now violent towards me. Sometime in December 2016 she hit me with a stone on the head.

“On 24 April this year she came to my workplace and beat me up in front of my bosses and subordinates and tore my uniform in the process. When I went to my village she took my identification particulars, certificates and clothes and went away before she came back on 26 May and beat me up with a cooking stick and stone on the head,” said Nyurura.

He said his wife also threatened to stab him with a kitchen knife.

Munedzimwe, however, disputed the accusations noting that Nyurura was a “serial bed-hopper” who was only after using women.



“He is in the habit of exchanging women and I am his third wife. After using them (other women) he then sought protection orders against them. What he is doing to me now, he did it to his two ex-wives. His bosses are even fed up with his extra-marital issues.

“He is now staying with my younger sister whom he impregnated. I reported the matter to his bosses and he was chased out of the camp.

She added:

“He once chained and assaulted me and as a result I suffered a miscarriage. The other time he deserted me and when I followed him where he was staying I found him with another woman. When I tried to beat up that woman he restrained me.

“The other day when I came back from school I found him again with another woman in our matrimonial bedroom and he locked me outside,” she said.

Nyurura then hit back.

“She is lying that I impregnated her younger sister and I no longer love her,” Nyurura tersely responded subsequently courting his wife’s anger.

“He can’t say that he no longer loves me. If he is no longer interested in me he should take me back to my parents and pay a beast since we have a child together”.

In his ruling the presiding magistrate Tinashe Tashaya ordered both parties not to verbally, physically and emotionally abuse each other.

He also ordered Munedzimwe not to visit her husband’s workplace and on the other hand Nyurura not to evict his wife from the house the parties were staying.

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, is considering leaving Victor Moses out of his starting XI, for their final Group D clash with Argentina.

Nigeria only need to avoid defeat, to qualify for the round of 16 and hope Croatia beat Iceland in the group’s decisive encounters on Tuesday. Both matches will be played concurrently.

Ahead of the game, Rohr is worried by Moses’ attitude, as the Chelsea player has failed to play a pivotal role at the tournament.

For the second Group D game against Iceland, Rohr was forced to switch to a 3-5-2 formation, with Moses playing as a wingback and captain John Mikel Obi dropping deep in midfield.

But Moses apparently did not like the decision that restricted him from “expressing his talent”.

Although Rohr told reporters afterwards that he was satisfied with the player’s display against Iceland, but he showed his frustration during the match, with Moses strolling back after misplacing a pass or losing the ball.

The Guardian also claims that Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick and many other dignitaries had to go to the dressing room, to specifically convince Moses to play in the role before the game.

1) Visit the University of Nigeria website (www.unn.edu.ng) or portal (unnportal.edu.ng), log in your JAMB Registration number to generate and download a Payment Invoice which contains a Remitta number, the invoice will enable you to make payment at any Commercial Bank.

2) With the Payment Invoice, the candidate is requested to pay Twenty Five Thousand Naira Only (N25, 000.00) acceptance fee. Ensure that the Invoice number is keyed in appropriately at the Bank and obtain a confirmation slip containing your Confirmation number and Invoice number.

3) Visit the University of Nigeria website (www.unn.edu.ng) or portal (unnportal.edu.ng) again and login your JAMB Registration Number, the Confirmation Number and Invoice Number, then print the Admission slip and complete the Acceptance Form online.

4) Proceed with other fee payments and registration as indicated on the University of Nigeria website.

Afro-pop sensation, David Adeleke aka Davido has hired a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), from the law firm of Norrison Quakers to handle the issue of Tagbo Umeike’s death, for now, in the court of public opinion.



The law firm released a statement advocating for their high networth client and maintaining his innocence.

Quakers said, Davido was never arrested by the police but he made himself available to the police in order to assist with investigations.

The firm also stated that the video footage and other evidence in the custody of the police do not incriminate his client but rather help to promote his innocence.

The lawyer also states that Davido was never aware that his Toyota Hilux pilot vehicle was used to convey Tagbo to the hospital and that he never gave the order.

According to the statement, “It is unfortunate that the stories making the news and social media seek to portray our client as a liar and a callous friend. We wish to state unequivocally and on behalf of our client that he was not present at the time of death of the deceased, neither did he give anyone directions or instructions to take the remains of the deceased to the hospital or morgue.

“Our client had no knowledge of the deceased’s movement after he last saw him at “The Shisha Room”. Rather it was friends of the deceased (who out of concern) and without our Client’s knowledge drove the deceased in the (deceased’s car) to the hospital, while our clients police details escorted the deceased’s car in our client’s pickup truck. This they did because they knew the deceased to be their Boss’ friend and were merely helping a fellow human being in need.”
