Nairaland / General / Florida Woman Shot In Leg July 4 Doesn't Realize It For 5 Days by entwap: 6:59am On Jul 12, 2015
DELAND, Fla. (AP) — A Florida woman says she was shot in the leg while sitting at a café on Independence Day, but she didn't realize it until doctors found the bullet five days later.

Heather Charlebois told The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http:///PkMRto ) that after days of pain from what she initially thought was a firecracker, she went to the hospital. Doctors told her they found a .38-caliber bullet lodged in her leg.
Charlebois says she was on the patio of Cafe Da Vinci in DeLand on Saturday night when she felt a pain in her leg. She checked it out in the bathroom, but there was little blood.
Police say there were no reports of gunfire but believe the bullet might have been fired into the air from some distance away.

Nairaland / General / New Zealand Woman Lost In Forest Drinks Own Breast Milk To Survive by entwap: 6:29am On Jul 11, 2015
Susan O’BrienEven though she had two litres of water, gel packs, as well as an energy bar, a New Zealand woman who was on a 12.5-mile cross-country race near Wellington drank her own breast milk in order to survive.

The woman has been named as Susan O’Brien took a wrong turn and became disorientated and the 29 year old said she thought she was going to die during a night of heavy rain and high winds, a search and rescue operation was launched after she failed to reach the finish line on Sunday morning.
She described how she spent the night praying and in an effort to keep warm she dug a hole in the ground and lay in it. She then blanketed herself in dirt to keep warm. She confessed that she did not carry a life blanket and became very cold and scared.
The story has a good ending as she was found by a helicopter with heat-seeking equipment which tracked her down, she was nearly 2 miles off course in hills near Wainuiomata. Naturally her parents were delighted to see her again as she hugged and kissed them, and her first duty was to feed her eight-month-old daughter, Meisha, with whom she was united, along with son Jayden, and her family.
Mrs O’Brian told reporters that “I’m not a very good orienteering woman,” being lost in the forest would seem to confirm that.
