Politics › Re: Petrol May Hit ₦1,000/Litre As Dangote Hikes Price by Equitty15(m): 5:22am On Mar 05 |
Mathewrichard99: Your thought is simply fantastic and very humane. That ought to be the right thing that a considerate government should render to its citizens.
However, Nigeria is yet to establish the actual consumption that Nigeria consumed in a day. Nigeria porous border should also be considered and monitored.
Also, there's still importation of fuel ongoing. If you consider all these, it would be very difficult for government to take the decision of rendering subsidy in the form of pegging the price to dangote at the old price so that he can refine and sell lower to Nigeria also. Mind you, anything government gives to people to enhance or reduce the price they supposed to be paying is considered subsidy. It's possible but the government need to put his house in order by controlling the illegal movement of tanker trucks to neighbouring countries. All the law enforcement are to blame for this corruption.
Also, there's lack of regular crude supply to Dangote. Most of the crude dangote uses in his refinery are imported from the US and other Countries.
Nigeria claimed irregular supply due to the excessive crude for loan agreement done under Buhari regime. I read that Nigeria is still giving out crude to China and some other countries in fulfilling that agreement. The truth is that the government has never come out to audit that agreement so that we would know the amount of crude remaining to round up the agreement.
My brother, Nigeria is just a corrupt country and the government is never sincere to lay the facts on the table. The more you look the less you see is just our situation. Thanks... thanks for your detailed explanation my bro, the country is just a very corrupt one. Have a nice day boss. Cheers! |
Politics › Re: Petrol May Hit ₦1,000/Litre As Dangote Hikes Price by Equitty15(m): 5:42am On Mar 04 |
Mathewrichard99: Ok..Dangote refinery buys crude oil from. Nigeria at the same international rate. When crude oil goes up internationally, Nigeria as a member of OPEC must also comply, therefore Dangote has few options at his table and the I guess the best for the welfare of his company, workers, debtors and to stay afloat is to increase his pump price since he's buying at the increase internationally prevailing rate due to the ongoing war in the middle East.
However, the only solution that could happen to Nigerians to buy fuel at a cheaper rate is if the government can introduce subsidy. Sell crude oil cheaper to Dangote amd vice versa, Dangote sell PMS and others cheaper to Nigerians but that decision would bounce back against all the plans that the government had made ever since the government came In.....It can bring down our foreign reserves which has been on the positive status for over a year now. We have over 50billion Dollars presently, increment from about 3 billion dollars when the government came in.......hope you understand?
Also, the government needs money to be able to meet up it budget forecast and other liability and of course the FAAC is ever ready to share allocation to the States and the local governments. thanks for the clear explanation. However I would like to understand how selling to dangote at the current price we sell( without increasing it due to the war) would bring down our foreign reserves. The budget was planned with a forecasted price of $50 per barrel. I think with the war happening, price of crude is around $80-$90 per barrel. Before the war it was $60 per barrel. So if the govt have the masses in mind, they can continue to sell to dangote at $60 per barrel to maintain price. Calculate the number of barrels Nigerians use a day and sell that quantity at $60 usd then sell anything asides that at the current $80-90 to dangote for foreign exports. Just my thoughts though |

Nigeria shouldn’t be number 175. We are at least in the top half in Africa. We are better than many non-African countries like Afghanistan, North Korea, Haiti, Syria, Paraguay, Kosovo, Iran, Cambodia, Bosnia-Herzegovina etc. We should be between number 100 and 140. So like 120. I don’t know about the other countries but I think North Korea and Iran are ahead. Atleast we can see the impact of their education in the arm and weapon race. Can’t say so for 9ja |

I really do not understand you guys suggesting Canada PR like it’s something that’s easy or quick. It really takes times and there are points to meet for it to be considered. I believe OPs question is towards where his 20M can take him to comfortably and possibly still push him for a couple of months before he gets a job. In that case, I believe going to Europe. Op since you have 20M liquid cash, try the Germany opportunity card. Its straight forward. You’ll need to add some more funds cause to need to have a 12k euros block account. Or try other EU countries study route like Portugal, Spain, Italy , Belgium, Malta e.t.c with your money, you’ll comfortably pay your tuition and still have some money to sustain you for some months before you get a job. Other expensive options are Finland, Netherlands, Sweden, Ireland. Your money will get you there but it’s going to be a bit hard to sustain your self for the first few months. I say this because I’m a big fan of paying your full tuition before migrating, it lifts a lot of pressure from you. To work and pay school fees isn’t beans. You need to use your study time to also pick up a skill in I.T or else where, and you need to be good at it. When you are very good, you’ll get a good job in the long run.
