I
Erasmus666:

From my experience, the Belgian embassy hardly responds to phone calls. In fact most of the time their number is switched off. However they respond to emails quickly. You can reach them at abuja.visa@diplobel.fed.be
Tell them about your situation and quote your full name and passport number. If possible upload a scanned copy of your passport if you have one. Sorry about all the stress. It is well.

I should also mention that the reference number given by VFS (LAGO/...) is only meant for tracking the location of your passport via VFS’s website (which you can do here https://www.vfsvisaonline.com/Global-Passporttracking/Track/Index?q=shSA0YnE4pLF9Xzwon/x/DkngnsuyV06lOAvm8bxUnGJJuvKsIkLE4ykj+VjhbSUGz8qSJSq+XMAJCjUks0tMQ== ). So I highly doubt that the embassy let alone the home office in Belgium will recognize it. The number that they recognize is your visa application number which you can only get directly from the Belgian embassy. That’s probably what they meant when they said that VFS’s reference number is fake and you should get one from the embassy. They were probably thinking of the visa application number and not the reference number given by VFS. If you want to get the visa application number, the instructions on how to do so are here: https://nigeria.diplomatie.belgium.be/en/travel-to-belgium/visa#7 (see point 5).

Start by tracking your passport through VFS’s website to know where it is in the first place and then send an email to the embassy. All the best.

Thinking of applying for a Belgium Visa?

Well, this is a nairalanders' experience

This is the warning I wished I read or knew of before making the disastrous mistake of applying for a Belgium visa on the 5/7/2019. The day started as a normal Friday, Early Morning by 8:30am, I was already at the VFS Global center in Lekki where the Belgium and some other schengen Visa applications are made. As I couldn't get an appointment for France, I opted to apply for Belgium since they are both schengen countries.

A summary of my travel history, I am not a stranger to international travels in fact I have traveled and lived in the United Kingdom for over 8 years and have long running travel visa with the U.K., I have traveled to the USA and then some African countries on vacations. So by every standard, getting a Belgium visa should at least not be an issue. Well this I thought when I applied however it is shocking that 1 month and 2 weeks after my application for a visa to Belgium, I have not received even a decision and I have been calling VFS Global who I think based on my opinion and findings are complacent about my plight.

I have been calling all the Belgian embassy numbers available to me on the internet ad even on one occasion I called Belgium home office as I read that they decide visa applications to tell them to just release my passports that I don't want to travel again only to be told that I have to get a reference number from their embassy in Nigeria as the reference number given to me by VFS Global is fake.

Please anyone who has any contact to the Belgian embassy or any information on how to get my passports back should please advise me. I don't want to travel to Belgium again. Please just deny me the visa and release my passports. I missed my travel to the  United Kingdom on Saturday the 17/8/2019 simply because I made an error of even thinking about applying for a Belgian visa.

Pleass post your advice in this thread as I will be reading everything to know the next possible solution.

Travel / Re: Anyone Studying In Belgium? by Erasmus666: 8:58pm On Dec 03, 2018
Hello house. Please does anyone know if KU Leuven has stopped asking for certified copies of results? The reason I ask is that I’ve been going through their admissions page and I can’t find any reference to certified copies being sent either during or after the application. I remember that a few months ago when I checked, there were several references to the submission of certified copies. However, a new admissions cycle just began last month and perhaps the school has changed its policy on certified copies. Please I would really appreciate a response especially from those who are currently studying there, so that I will know the next course of action to take. Thanks.
