Depending on how you see it, i have always argued Nigeria failure to develope strong institutions has been our bane of development.

Strong institutions ensures no nepotism, tribalism or religious affiliations are recognized. Only the competent ones are selected.



This has greatly enabled corruption and encouraged poor governance. This has affected even the military as troops accuse senior officers of looting funds, judges are accused of bribery and illegality as NJC sits back and do nothing. Vote buying is the order of the day as those involved knows nothing will come out of it because of a weak institution we have.


The western world is a case study, after Trump lost to Biden, he started indicating that he may not step down but US strong passed a message to him that they won't back the illegality. Just imagine if that were to be in Africa or Nigeria, he might likely get away with it.

The west strong institutions demand accountability from their leaders and ensures everyone gets fair treatment regardless of creed or race.
