@overloved, I am sorry for my belated reply to ur email to me, I saw it and network or yahoo site has been bad in my phone. I will certainly reply u soon. @dloy, I didn't write any entrance exam for Helsinki as I'm going for PhD. Meanwhile, I had my interview on 11th August at the Finnish Embassy Abuja, then they gave me back my pspt and told me they'll send my application further to their home country for decision. Please, could some one tell me when to expect their email for my residence permit. My insurance cover and course start date is 5th september. Is it possible for them to decide on my application before that time so that I can travel before 5th sept.to attend d orientation course. Pls people that hav gotten their finnish residence permit as well as people who are well conversant with the process should please respond to this post urgently. @all, please I need SINCERE ADVICE. I got my 1month transit visa today but issued on 12th August. Does it mean that I must travel before 12th September? What if I unavoidably fail to make the journey b4 the 12th september but may be could make it around 20th september which is over 1 month from date of issue? Please I need authentic advice now.tnx |
@kheme, tnx 4d answer. Which means monday is for both submission and collection. Well, I am presently at abuja, I pray dat I do d certification in time to meet up with submission at d Turkish Embassy. It is when I finally receive my visa by God's grace then I will know when to travel which must be in September. |
@all,I undastand dat submission for visa application is made on mondays, wed. and fridays to collect d following days. If I submit on friday, when will I be required 2collect my passport back? Pls explain |
@overloved, I browse with my phone most time and it doesn't have msnger. Dis u still dey hammer on d English requirement, is it now a prerequisite for visa? Thought its for admission? Well, I had above d required 6.0 overall band score though its older than d 2yrs validity but the school accepted it and gave me offer. I was expecting u to comment on those issues I raised concerning which form to use when applying and the listing of d necessary documents and the required size/quality of passport photograph. Pls respond even thru my email posted above. Tnx |
@overloved and all, thanks a lot. I already have an IELTS result and other qualifications including work experience and publications in international journal to get d admission. Yet it wasn't easy as I had to forward my research proposal to expert professors to assess. It was after many months of preliminary diagnosis that they finally sent me my acceptance letter including the name of my supervisor on it. It seems Phd in Finland is purely research based and has no course content? Pls clarify and also advice on which form I should apply with and the required documents. Pm me via drikeji@yahoo.com. Thanks |

@vicjustic, where are u? Pls reply to d last poster, I have interest in same questions. But I know u did a wonderful job on d topic somewhere, just dat I can't remember d thread where u analysed all d schengen countries on their std of living, blacks there, opportunities and environment. You can link me up to dat thread again pls. Thanks |
@choose4me, u posted somewhere here previously about health insurance cover N30,000. Pls where is it procured here in Naija for finnish visa. I am really in need of one urgently as I just got my acceptance letter for Doctoral study in University of Helsinki. Pls reply |
@iz2much and coolbr, , waooo! That last post is the most revealing I've ever come across and dat's d kind of exposé I would like to grab 4rm 1st timers or freshmen students. Because, d problem is not alwayz with taking care of d capital expenses like tuition and accomodation but defraying d daily/recurrent expenditures on food, transport, comunication and welfare activity eg haircut etc. Hence, it wil be a gud eye-opener if u guys repost with a more comprehensive list of where surprises come from in current&real prices of things. Also, are d prices u quoted applicable evrywhere in trnc or Lefke d city centre? If a student lives in d dorm, would there be any need of depending on taxis there? Explain pls. |
Thank you very much I have seen it. About the certification of my transcripts, you are aware that the copy school issues to students are photocopies since copies with fresh stamps of the school goes directly to the school student is applying to. So would they still certify it with that? |
its ok,now can somebody in the house answer my question before I make a mistake oh. which one be the extension pages of my passport which they say I go make copies in addition to the data page? Also, how many copies of each document do they require at the embassy? what do I answer in the question, visa requested for how many days, when do you intend to arrive and date of departure? pls help out.tnx men |
@wip, tnx 4d info I am presently filling my visa form and I want to be adviced on what to answer for these questions: duration of stay visa is requested for , days., date of arrival and depature (think same day)? Also, I asked earlier on (pls read my previous 3rd or 4th post above) about what necessary documents to certify in Min.of ed. ,and number of copies of all my documents are required. Pls advice me. |
@iz2much, with due respect I wish u'd used a more polite way to correct yemmy than attack. Dis thread has enjoyed tranquility and decency so far that no body uses derogatory word like labelling pple bad egg or sort of. Moreso, u didn't even clarify whats legally obtainable as regards my post, pls advice on all the issues I raised especially d certification stuff. @yemmy, pls I appologize. I knw u r never a bad egg evn if u overstayed d required free acc period, it could be circumstances proned. Pls forgive him and attend to my last post d way u'v always done. Tnx |
@yemmy, u mean 4weeks free accomodation? Is it that they wil not ask for payment for d 1st one month or u live freely then at d end of d 4weeks u pack to a new room u re expected to live in for d session and start paying? Explain. Also, am I suppose to include my o'level certificate for authentication since I am going for PhD? Do the ministry of education authenticates Bsc,Msc,chattered certificate, Nysc and what else? Pls tell me the ones that are necessary and number of photocopies of them are required let me not go &submit a bogus application that contains irrelevant documents that may not in anyway influence the outcome of my visa application. Advice in detail and remain blessed.ication that contains irrelevant documents that may not in anyway influence the outcome of my visa application. Advice in detail and remain blessed. |
@poster, pls could u link me up to scholarships available for Nigerians going for PhD research, I have already secured a supervisor for my PHD work. |
@all, thanks for d survey so far. On d issue of permit, how do u process it and d requirements? Which one is receipt of tuition, school only sent me acceptance letter and after I paid my fee, they sent me confirmation letter which was even addressd to Turkish Embassy Abuja. Pls clarify. |
@t_gud, unconditional offer letter is issued after d school has received ur tuition payment and is required at d embassy for ur visa. Where u dey? Lag or Abj? |
Yeah, I got mine last week and was told the school was going to send d list to d embassy on friday last week. But I am not sure they sent it because oga Wip that posted d info is yet to confirm if they have sent it. He promised to even forward me a ref.no of my name on d list once sent so that I dont get to Abuja to be told my name is not in d list. I am waiting for notification from wip. Yours would definitely come, ok. |
@Ilbhuds and iz2much, thank God u guys understand why and could forgive my curiosity. Well, u'v done more than enough for me but I don't want dis thread 2grow cold hence, I wil be making posts from time to time. For now,I want to know what soup d locales eat d banku with and how much banku meal costs in a regular/normal restaurant? Also what are d areas of immediate expenses one would face as soon as u arrived so dat I wil forecast how to go about it, to determine how much dollar cash&denomination to come with as u are landing so as to sustain u for sometime before u begin to locate where ATM's are for ur withdrawals? Explain one more time, I beg of u. stain u for sometime before u begin to locate where ATM's are for ur withdrawals? Explain one more time, I beg of u. |
Guys where una dey, no body comment again here. Abi I no get people wey don get set to fly to TRNC? Make una identify. @elijah and T_gud, make una no allow dis thread die oh. |
@iz2much, Na ur pix be dat? wetin you dey chop there? pls could you describe how this banku dey and the preparation of it. Do I need to come with my cooking pots? if so, after cooking do I leave my soup in the general kitchen or how do I preserve what I have cooked or left over in the pot for the following day? Finally, this Iyabasira dey for your CIU side or EMU side? pls I await ur detailed reply. |
@Yemmy, wrote that foods are very cheap in trnc and now iz2much has written dat a meal (naija soup) cost 20ytl, does that stil show inexpensiveness? What is banku? @iz2much, is there any turkish food dat can really serve as solid as eba/garri which freshers can feast on during their period of adaptation? U are d best person to answer me with a first hand info esp.as u went there with little or no naija meal then, yet u survived it till now. I wish to knw everything so dat I won't make any mistakes. Even after once adaptation, what simple food can somebody (who doesn't know much about d act of cooking)possibly learn fast and make my favourite routined meal? I mean easy food 2prepare like indomie. |
@izzmuch, its really pathetic but its dat to say students are not allowed to work for a stipulated hours per week like obtains elsewhere eg. 20 hrs per week during session and full time work during vacation. I mean why should police begin to arrest students. Well, I want to ask Ilbhuds and others who hav bn advicing freshers 2com wt enough food that can sustain them for months. What food do u advice me to carry? (garri, yam, rice, indomie and what else) Also, I thought u guys said travelers are only allowed to carry bagage of 50kg and u knw how many kg 1 tuber of yam would weigh. Could u explain what and how u did it to sustain urself for at least 1month b4 u started feeding on kebab and d rest of d turkish meal. Tnxth b4 u started feeding on kebab and d rest of d turkish meal. Tnx |
Judging by what u'v said, I can say that those pple complaining about Trnc never went there for studies if not, tell me whether we dont spend more than that N15k for feeding as students in Naija. Yet up to ur 4th year u don't evn see a job of 2000naira monthly to complement, but u survive anyway, maybe parents provide this. In all these period u belive tomorow will be better after graduation, when u had secured a job. Why now change the standard for those students in NC, U ought 2hav d same patience and see urself a student who belives in better tomorow after graduation. Well, thanks a lot and I wish u continue to expose and hint on further issues u feel could be of interest to us.sues u feel could be of interest to us. |
@omhokhogie, Is the 20TL to 50TL per day or monthly pay? If one has paid tuition and accomodation, how much could ur parents reserve for u to be managing with for your feeding alone monthly? Why did u warn I shouldn't ask u d kinda hard work there? Explain, maybe one may even come with his working implement he has mastered - lol. |
@Ilbhuds, tnx for d info if u are sure its d way you've said it be ready to defend or expatiate it bc TRNC haters will arise to fault it and tell us how its easier for a camel to pass thru d eye of a niddle than for any student (irrespective of their level of study -BSc,MSc or PhD) to get any small job to complement already reserved funds 4living expenses. Also, they will mock us about how the job will pay 3TL per day which is like 300 naira, if one eventually secures any maybe after about 3yrs you have lived there, all these lies are just advanced to drive home their point that TRNC is a ghost land. Well, I welcome opinions on this issue so that incoming students would not run from traveling even after tuition payment and receiving their visa. Pls don't keep quiet, ur response may be that catalyst that could spur someone to a lifetime destiny changing decision (either way) @Ilbhuds, u can still elaborate to denounce or justify the issues raised above on what kind of jobs may or can be possibly/ rarely available to different categories of students in TRNC and the pay attached when located., all these lies are just advanced to drive home their point that TRNC is a ghost land. @last poster, you sound more objective esp. having lived in both sides. Well, I don't have any specific question here but I just want you to analyze both sides on opportunities and quality of education for individuals to now decide based on their specific needs and goals. Understand that its not everybody that have chosen TRNC did so to go and huzzle for money, some have genuine intention of getting a quality education at affordable cost. Also, its not as if they can not secure admission in better places like UK and US etc (did I call these places better? Well, only God knws where each individual destiny lies), but even if they do get admission there, strict immigration procedures may cause their visa refusal. If given the visa, high cost of education bills may lead them to breach immigration rules(engaging in extra work than allowed if they could even find such as and when due) thereby making them illegal immigrants liable to deportation, abandoning the degree certificate they initially went for. Howbeit, if they're super sponsored from home and could finish their course of study, the same inhumane and strict immigration law that keeps getting more obfuscated by the day wouldn't allow them more than 12months to now enjoy their labour in the host country without stringent conditions that would at last jettison them out of the country. Think of language/accent barrier which originally keep you a second fiddle as well as need for jobs too by locales. Well, I want to hold it here but I challenge every poster to give a dispassionate analysis of the situations in SC and TRNC. I personally doubt if south is really more advantageous than the north considering the law of income and expenditure in determining net gain. If u wish to PM me, do so via drikeji@yahoo.com and I will appreciate it although here will be preferable so that the impact of your contribution would be widely appreciated. @elijah, I'v just received my confirmation of acceptance receipt so I guess d school is yet 2send my name to d embassy but I am expecting to be in Abuja between 1st and 2nd week of August. @Tgud, U should pay what is quoted on ur acceptance letter, they'd already subtracted the 50% scholarship amount b4 advicing u to pay whatever is written on one of the attachments that came with ur offer letter. If I knw which level of study u are going for, then I could tell u the range of fee 50% scholarship holders pay. As for me, I'v got no scholarship as there's none for PhD students rather they have a chance of getting Teaching or Research Assistantship positions which could even waive subsequent tuition as well as offer them small monthly remuneration. Hence, I paid what was stipulated in my offer letter which was $4100. @Elijah&Tgud, where do u guys base in Naija? I browse wt my phones most times that's why I dont hook up in yahoo msnger. Hope to hear from u guys soon.
