Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Andela: IT Training And Job by eslanger: 12:33am On Oct 06, 2014
Hi everyone.
I just want to say that I am excited about how people have taken interest in the Andela Fellowship program. This is a positive sign that we have bright minds in this country interested in technology and innovation.
I applied for the Andela fellowship also but didn't score very very very well...that aside anyway....
I have been following this thread for a while (although without commenting), and I just want to dish out one or two advice. Regardless of whether you make it into the Andela fellowship program or not, please make the best use of your interest in technology. In essence, I urge everyone to try to become technological entrepreneurs. Come with an idea, develop a product, and then start your own company (a Startup) like its done in world class technology industries.
Our country needs to become technologically vibrant. For this to happen we (you and me) need to build the technology industry. The easiest way to achieve this is to create startups that solves societal problems through technology.
For those in the Andela Fellowship program (@Erza and co), please try to think big (outside Andela's scope). Use the knowledge you get from the fellowship to build great software products, solving societal problems and in turn create your own startup.
For those who do not make it into the Andela fellowship, there are other ways of gaining knowledge about technology and innovation. For example, you could take online Computer Science and Programming courses at Coursera https://www.coursera.org/. They even have a course that teaches you how to start a start up technology company ( Start up Engineering) https://www.coursera.org/course/startup. Please try and improve yourself to enable you build great product. An alternative to coursera is is EDX https://www.edx.org

In summary I'll like to say thanks to everyone who has been contributing to this thread. @Erza, @Bamoza and many more, you have been very helpful with regards to information flow.

I apologize for writing such a long post. I very rarely write post. I am guessing that why this one is lengthy.
I also apologize for divulging a little bit out of the subject of this thread.

Good luck everyone.

P.S.: In case anyone is wondering if this is a case of all talk and no deeds, well I have projects of my own I am currently working on. Although for now they are still in conceptual stages.
