ECMR cost about N6k in 2023. It's about 3k now. Car owners should have comprehensive insurance, ensure they have a car tracker, fuel demobilizer, car alarm system, also used steering or gear lock when cars are parked.

The part that is unclear is the 1st car stolen at gun point. Is it a Nigerian used car? I have done ECMR twice. I dont see provisions made for cars other than registered or numbered vehicles.

There's actually a provision for no plate number registration, but police are thieves regardless.

I commend the service station for installing the CCTV camera, other stations should follow suit, this can reduce crime to the barest minimum.

Most of these tanker drivers are not properly trained to man the wheels of these articulated vehicles.

A lot of them were just conductors who learnt how to drive by watching their masters drive, without proper road safety insight, then boom, one alhaji will hand him a tanker to drive.

Then they're mostly involved with substance abuse, lack of good sleep and rest, poor mental health and frame of mind, anxiety and depression etc.

The Petroleum tankers union (PTD), should periodically train and retrain these guys, I know also in some instances poor road maintenance also plays a huge part, here now is the failure of government to provide infrastructures.
