ProgrammingWhat Every DBA Needs To Know About The New Mysql 5.7! by etraininginst(op): 12:08pm On Nov 25, 2015
Over the past years, MySQL has proven to be one of the most secured database management system. However, following the recent updates and the newly released version 5.7, some security improvements have been made. You were probably not aware of these loop holes in the past!

But before you consider upgrading or to continue with the current version of the MySQL you are running, here are some security improvements you should be aware of:

1. MySQL now enables DBAs to establish a policy for automatic password expiration: Any user who connects to the server using an account for which the password is past its permitted lifetime must change the password & Administrators can now lock and unlock accounts for better control over who can log in.

2. By default, all MySQL deployments installed using mysqld --initialize are secure. However, it is important to take note of the following changes: Installation creates no anonymous-user accounts. and Installation creates no database and The installation process creates only a single account, , automatically generates a random password for this account, and marks the password expired. The MySQL administrator must connect as using the random password and assign a new password.

3. In the new MySQL 5.7, mysql_ssl_rsa_setup utility can be invoked manually to create SSL and RSA key and certificate files and all servers (whether compiled using OpenSSL or yaSSL), if not configured for SSL explicitly, attempt to enable SSL automatically at startup if they find the requisite SSL files in the data directory.

Other improvements to be noted in the new update includes Globalization Features, Master Dump Features, Group Replication Performance Tables, New feature that allows Multi-Source Replication amongst several other improvements.

In addition to these improvements, some features however have been deprecated so it is advisable to expect some things to become impossible in the new version!

MySQL so far is still one of largest database management system globally with over 70% of companies or more running on the system. To become a recognized & certified MySQL DBA, there is an online training on the course available here http:///1Hm5iz1 at a quite affordable price considering it's flexibility and convenient learning method. CareerDiscover The Top 7 Most Useful Microsoft Excel Keyboard Shortcuts To Save Time! by etraininginst(op): 10:34am On Oct 15, 2015
Are you spending 8hours in creating a Microsoft Excel document that shouldn't take more than 10mins?

Regardless of your experience with Microsoft Excel, here is comprehensive guide on 7 of the hundreds keyboard shortcuts of this powerful spreadsheet.

In this write up, general keyboard shortcuts that work in lots of other programs are not mentioned here e.g CTRL-C, CTRL-V et.c not because they aren't useful but in-order to focus on shortcuts exclusive to Microsoft Excel guaranteed to help you work faster and do more within limited time. Read full article here: http:///1PuBYYh.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is no doubt about how powerful Microsoft Excel spreadsheet has proven to be. Currently over more than 90% of companies and individuals have used the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet at least once in their personal & professional existence. Microsoft Excel has lots of functionalities, some of which only advanced users are able to understand. However, regardless of your experience with this powerful spreadsheet, here is comprehensive guide on 7 of the hundreds keyboard shortcuts of Microsoft Excel.

Yes! you can look up "Keyboard Shortcuts" in Excel's help for a complete list of options but that can be overwhelming. These are 7 of the shortcuts you might use more often:

The F2 key for editing: This shortcut is quite simple but essential. The F2 key lets you edit the content of a cell. Sure, you can also double-click on it, but navigating there with the keyboard and using F2 is much faster.

Shift+the arrow keys for selection: To select multiple cells, just hold down shift and move the arrow keys in the direction you want. You can also do the same with the PgUp, PgDn, Home and End keys. Much easier and more accurate than the mouse.

Add or delete columns: Managing columns and rows in your spreadsheet is an all-day task. Whether adding or deleting, you can save a little time when you use this keyboard shortcut. CTRL + ‘-‘ (minus key) will delete the column your cursor is in and CTRL + SHIFT + ‘=' (equal key) will add a new column. From an earlier tip, think about CTRL + ‘+' (plus sign).

Set & Clear Borders: “CTRL+SHIFT+&” will add a complete (thin) border around your selected cells while “CTRL+SHIFT+_ (underscore)” will remove all the border formatting from your selected cells.

Quick Format Cells: To save all the time of going through the master list of number formats, use these keys to activate the most popular ones:

CTRL+SHIFT+$ will set the Currency format. Example: $1,234.56 / ($1,234.56)
CTRL+SHIFT+! will set the Number format. Example: 1,234.56 / -1,234.56
CTRL+SHIFT+% will set the Percentage format. Example: 123456% / -123456%
CTRL+SHIFT+~ will clear the format, giving you a clean, un-formatted cell. Example: 1234.56 / -1234.56

Date-stamp or time-stamp using Ctrl+; or Ctrl+: Here is an easy way to remember this shortcut. What time is it right now? It is 11:21 here. There is a colon in the time. Press Ctrl+Colon to enter the current time in the active cell. Need the current date? Same keystroke, minus the Shift key. Pressing Ctrl+Semicolon enters the current time.

Note that this is not the same as using =NOW() or =TODAY(). Those functions change over time. These shortcuts mark the time or date that you pressed the key and the value does not change.

Lock and Unlock Cell References: You probably know that putting $ signs before your Column letter and Row number will lock the cell reference in a formula, but a pain to go in and manually set absolute (locked) references. F4 will cycle through all the combinations of locked and unlocked references when you are editing a formula in a cell.

As mentioned earlier in this post, Microsoft Excel is a powerful Microsoft Excel spreadsheet with lots of functionalities. Hence it's certification is recognized globally and relevant in absolutely all industries. To become a Microsoft Certified Microsoft Office Excel Specialist, registering with e-Training Institute should be a decision to consider.

e-Training Institute provides classroom training, online training, private and in-house training at affordable prices, flexible learning methods and lots of several other options. WebmastersRe: Why Do Nigerians Prefer .com To .ng Domains? by etraininginst: 3:49pm On Sep 28, 2015
Besides the fact that .com has been around for a long time and also bearing in mind that the first guess that comes to most people is a .com domain address.

I just feel cos of these reasons most people will rather go for a .com first before considering a .ng. .NG might be more expensive but it definitely has its own benefits... http://www.eti.ng http://expedite.com.ng/ are some websites I can testify are doing very fine regardless of the .ng TLDs.

Nigerians should consider embracing the .NG, it's just not going to be easy to encourage Nigerians to consider a .ng domain cos its quite too expensive compared to other available options...they will rather adjust the domain name till a .com option is available...which is understandable...

Educational ServicesDon't Miss This Offer! ITIL Foundation Certification! by etraininginst(op): 2:06pm On Jun 15, 2015
ITIL describes processes, procedures, tasks, and checklists which can be applied by an organization for establishing integration with the organization's strategy, delivering value, and maintaining a minimum level of competency. It allows the organization to establish a baseline from which it can plan, implement, and measure. It is used to demonstrate compliance and to measure improvement.

The Foundation level is the entry level qualification which offers you a general awareness of the key elements, concepts and terminology used in the ITIL service lifecycle, including the links between life-cycle stages, the processes used and their contribution to service management practices.

After passing the ITIL Foundation training and examination, you can expect to gain a general overview and basic understanding of ITIL & contribute to the growth of your career. Employers will consider candidates with this certificates over others without it.

If you want to progress to the next level within the ITIL qualifications scheme which is the ITIL Intermediate level, you need to have first passed the ITIL Foundation qualification.

This qualification is primarily aimed at:

Entry Level IT Individuals and professionals
Those who require a basic understanding of the ITIL framework
Those who need understanding of how ITIL can be used to enhance IT service management within an organization
IT professionals or others working within an organization that has adopted and adapted ITIL and who need to be informed about, or contribute to, ongoing service improvement.

However, the ITIL Foundation level qualification is open to and can benefit anyone who has an interest in the subject.

Holders of an ITIL Foundation level qualification are likely to require further guidance before being able to apply the ITIL practices for Service Management to professional projects or situations.

Programming5 Companies Getting It Right With Big Data: Where Do You Stand? by etraininginst(op): 9:46am On Feb 19, 2015
With a huge amount of data being generated daily in the course of work and business, there is an increasing demand for individuals and companies who possess data management skills. These set of people are expected to plan and execute good data management practices. Data management cuts across various sectors from government, academic institutions, financial services, advertising, telecoms and health care. Some of the functions of a data management personnel include: Data research, data planning, data management, data security and data sharing.

Let’s take a look at 5 companies that have successfully used data management to achieve business goals and generated huge revenue.

GT Bank

GT Bank has been ahead of others when it comes to adapting to trends and being innovative. One of the most active corporate Nigerian brand on social media, GTB was the first Nigerian brand to reach the 1,000,000 page likes on Facebook and currently boast of 2,311,220 likes. The bank’s dedicated customer service personnel across various social media channels helps it segment its audience, promoting the right products and services to groups which are most likely to respond to them. Now customers can open an account directly from their social platforms and get an immediate response to queries and support issues from her twitter platform

Amazon

Amazon not only brought big data to the masses, it made it personal – and customer service was changed forever. With its recommendations and reviews-base structure, Amazon introduced us to the super-powered sales assistant – equipped with a super memory retaining every customer transaction and able to offer lightning-quick, and most importantly accurate, suggestions. In fact, it’s got so good at this that according to rumor (based on patent applications) it is planning to begin predictive shipping – automatically sending out parcels of books, DVDs, video games and gadgets based on what it thinks its users will want to pay for.

The 4 Big Nigerian Telecos

The four (4) Nigerian telecoms MTN, Globacom, Airtel and Etisalat with a total subscriber base of over 100 million are all deploying next generation networks (NGN) and BI software tools to analyze consumer behavior and effectively predict consumer behavior, buying habits and choices of their customers. Airtel and Etisalat, for example, are spending $3 billion collectively to “retool” their networks in order to take advantage of big data opportunities. MTN currently has the largest data centre in Africa and spends $1 Billion annually to maintain its network. Glo on the other hand is spending $1.25 billion to build an IP network to improve broadband services to cater for big data.

Facebook
In honor of its 10th anniversary, Facebook gave its members the option to view and share a movie with their friends that traces their activity on the social network, going all the way back to their date of registration. This one minute video, called “Flashback,” is a compilation of posts and photos that received the most “likes” or comments, all set to somewhat nostalgic background music. While the data used to produce this commemorative video is not the subject of a sophisticated analysis, the mini-movie symbolizes the potential use that Facebook can make of our data. The company has revolutionized the way we communicate with each other, from staying in touch with relatives to organizing weekend activities with friends.

Facebook collects about 30 billion pieces of content from users every day, resulting in over 300 petabytes (3 million gigabytes) of information. It has used this information to draw in advertisers, generating $2.68 million in advertising revenue between Octobers to December 2014.

Google

The king of search; Like Facebook, “Big G” turned data collection and analysis into a business model by providing a service ostensibly for free, then selling on information it gathers about us by monitoring the way we use that service.

Search is still the key service it provides – and its spiders has crawled millions of web pages to find what you’re looking for. Another of its service Google Earth, consistently providing services that people want to use – for education, business or just passing time.

Do you think your organization is currently analyzing and managing data effectively to produce optimal results?
