How do you write a crypto press release that doesn’t just end up ignored in someone’s inbox or buried under 100 other token announcements?

I’m working on launching a Web3 platform soon, and every PR agency and guide says to “write a press release,” but no one really explains how to make it good. Most crypto press releases I read feel generic — like, “Project X launches revolutionary Y on the blockchain.” They’re filled with buzzwords, but there’s nothing that makes you actually care. So how do you avoid that trap?

Do people still read press releases seriously in this space, or is it more about getting picked up by CoinDesk, Decrypt, or a top Substack writer? And when you’re writing one, what should you lead with — the tech, the team, the tokenomics, the vision?

I’ve seen some projects turn press releases into actual storytelling, almost like a pitch deck in words. Others go straight-up technical or make it all about fundraising. Is there a “right way” to do it for crypto audiences?

Also, how important is formatting or structure? Should I use a traditional format (headline, summary, quote, boilerplate), or go more casual and community-style?
