There was once a very wealthy man who had inherited great generational wealth that had increased with each passing generation. This man invested in arts, and had collections of Picasso, Rembrandt, Monet and other great historical artists. This man found a beautiful woman whom she loved so much and they both got married. Unfortunately, the woman died when delivering their child. With the loss of his wife, this man developed an unusual affection and love for his only son. When it was close to the time for the boy to inherit the properties and manage the wealth, the father thought it good for the boy to have outside experience. The boy joined the army and went distant miles away from the father. However, both of them maintained close touch through letters.

The butler in the house of this wealthy man realized how passionately his boss cherish the letters from his only son and would deliver it himself immediately the letters arrive. However, one day, the father noticed that another hand writing had addressed the letter in his hand. He quickly opened the letter and to his shock, it was a letter from the army commander telling him that his son had lost his life on the battlefield. After many days of sorrow, the man had a great artist paint the picture of his son, and he hoisted the pictures above all other work of arts in his collection room.

Later on, the man died, and since there was no one to inherit the properties, bidders were invited to purchase the popular arts in his house and other properties. But the first thing that was auctioned was the painting of the son of the man. Nobody was interested in the picture, they were all waiting for the paintings of great historical artists, and good properties, unlike the uncommon boy’s painting. However, the butler who had seen the son grew raised his hand to purchase the son’s painting. Since he was the only one, he won the bidding. And the auctioneer announced that the auction is over. Those who had come to bid questioned about the popular arts and other properties, and the auctioneer replied that, the father had instructed that whomsoever took custody of the son’s painting has everything.

The story above simply explains the reality of the message of Christmas; that whomsoever wants anything and everything from God must accept God’s presentation of His only Son. Without Jesus, God has nothing for you. With Jesus, God has everything for you. Jesus is the heir of God, and we’re joint heirs with Him because if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. We can only get from God when we have His Son. Merry Christmas.

I have seen how many people are subjected and enslaved by immoral passions and thoughts today. Many people wake up with immoral thoughts and only think about how to satisfy their immoral desires. Many people live and work just to gather money to propagate their evil and immoral desires. In all these, these men think they’re actually enjoying life, but they are enslaved to sins. Jesus said whomsoever commits sin is a slave to sin. They are slaves simply because they can’t stop themselves from doing what they’re doing. I can boldly say that a life led by immoral passion is a wretched life. However, Majority don’t want to live a wretched life, but they can’t control their desires.

*Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, whosoever commit sin is the servant of sin. John 8:34*

Many people are enslaved in the captivity of sins today; defiling their flesh, being led by their immoral acts to their peril and destruction. Sometimes, a child of God might see his/her non-involvement in these acts as denial or lack of freedom. But the truth is that the fact that a man doesn’t commit these sinful acts means he is free of the captivity that such acts brings. Because according to Jesus, those who are committing these sins are slaves to them. So, in all these things, the only salvation of these wretched ones is Jesus. Only Jesus can save them. I was living in a tormenting immoral passion before I met Christ, and Christ gave me freedom and peace. And looking today, I saw a lot of young men in these pits of immoral passion, living a wretched life, and heading for a calamitous future, and again, the hope is Jesus. Jesus loves sinful men; it is the sins in their lives that He hates. So, we should preach the freedom that we’ve received in Christ whenever we have the opportunity. These captivity and wretchedness don’t show in the eyes, and you wouldn’t know who you might help and save by preaching the gospel. Let’s preach the freedom that we’ve received, so that others can be saved and live free of torment.

Generational curses and wickedness by evil ones are plaguing many today, and sometimes, there are some children of God who doesn’t know who they are and labour under these curses and wickedness due to their ignorance and unbelief. Unbelief for a child of God is a curse, and it is very dangerous, but it can be cured and should be cured immediately. Because unbelief will put a man under lots of bondage. Am pleased to tell you this morning that God is the creator of everything and everyone, all powers in heavens, on the earth and even in the deep. And thus, God has given us immunity against every form of curses. All you need is belief.

*Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy. No weapon formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against me in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord. Isaiah 54:16-17*

In the scripture above, God said that He created every man that forms every weapon, and He created even the destroyer. And He is now telling you that, no matter what is formed, concocted, created, sent or manufacture can never arm you. He said we shall condemn every tongue that rise against us. And He said something special, He said this immunity is a benefit for God’s children, it is an inheritance. Wow! We have an inheritance that shields us, all we need is to engage it. He also said somewhere else that no curse causeless shall stand. He said somewhere else that, ‘surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel’

Whomsoever God has blessed cannot be cursed, you can’t be cursed, because you’re blessed in Christ Jesus with all heavenly blessings. All you need is to stand in your position of authority and condemn every tongue rising against you. His word said He will wipe off every handwriting against us. it’s just a pity how many people believe more in the power of the devil than they believe in the power of God. When Christ took the victory over death, He didn’t go to death to negotiate, He acclaimed a victory that is so great that death was swallowed up in that victory. Children of God just need to seek the will of God and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, and with just a single word, or without any, every generational curse will be swallowed up in victory. You’re immune, but our immunity is rooted in the knowledge and understanding of God, that’s why it’s most beneficial to seek and know God.

There’s one thing about life, and that is the fact that whatever you focus on gets magnified. Your vision and heart are like a stethoscope, whatever you view with it becomes magnified. This same principle applies to everything around us both spiritually and physically. As a child of God, you mustn’t focus on what is going wrong, the challenges that is looming, or evils flowing around, buy you must rather focus on the love of God.

*looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; Hebrews 12:2*

The Hebrew word for the ‘looking’ in the above scriptures means “aphorao’ and the meaning is ‘to turn the eyes away from other things and fix them on something.’ If you look around you, you might see war, enemies, calamities, disorders, fear, death, evil and the likes. But God’s word says to take your gaze off them and look unto Jesus. This was what happened to Peter when Jesus told him to come. Peter walked on water, but when the storm raged, he looked away unto the storm and took his gaze off of Jesus.

The lesson here is that, when Peter was looking at Jesus, he was doing the miraculous, he was breaking history records, but when his eyes refocused on the challenges, he was sinking. Whatever you focus on becomes your reality. If you focus on God’s love, promises, covenants, and protection rather than everything around you, you will experience the wonders of God. And sadly, on the other hand, if you focus on the fears, calamities, wars and evil around you, you will also experience the sting of those evil appearances. If you focus on God’s love, there are some things you wouldn’t pray for. God’s love is the best thing to focus on. You must learn how to love God and stand with Him always. Don’t lose focus.

God is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. Buy yet, He has needs. His major need is love. God so much loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whomsoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. Our lives as children of God should not be based on what we can get from God, but rather, what God can use us to do. God has needs too, His need is to expand His love to as many humans as possible, and to also receive worship from as many as possible. God receives worship when we praise Him, and when we extend His love to someone else. As beloved children of God, we are more of a worker on this earth. A worker is someone who works for someone else in realizing their vision and goals. When we seek God’s interest rather than living as a continual beggar before Him, He will give us everything we want.

*If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7*

God doesn’t have a problem satisfying all our petty desires. As a matter of fact, no matter how big and great our requests are, before God, they are minute. But God finds real pleasure and will go to a far extent in doing more for a man whose intention is to work for Him, rather than seeing God as an ATM to run to whenever in needs. The word of the Lord reveals to us in the verse above that. We’re to first cleave and abide in God’s words. God’s words are God’s will and work description for us. so, it is only when we are grounded in God’s word that we can ask whatever it is that we wish, and they will be done for us.

Sincerely speaking, God is not encouraged by a man who comes to Him only whenever in needs. That’s why Jesus said that God knows that you need some basic things. But it is only when you seek God first and His kingdom that every other thing that you’re crying for will be freely added unto you. According to the verse referenced here, God already knows what we all need. But He will most likely do nothing, until we satisfy His own will and needs first. The surest way to get things from God is to live as a worker, and worshipper, rather than a beggar. The word of the Lord says in Ephesians that we should seek out the things that please God. Seek to know God Himself, desire to listen to Him and work for Him. Don’t try to use God, but rather let Him use you.

Serving God requires great diligence. Many people are disappointed and blame God for not fulfilling His promises. But God is always faithful and He doesn’t change His mind. However, to experience the reality of all God’s promises, we must serve God and do all it takes to dedicate ourselves unto Him. Serving God is not just an issue of confessing and acting religiously. To serve God truly, you must be different. People who experience God’s power and promise are people who distinguish themselves from the crowd.

*For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:20*

If you want to enjoy God, don’t serve Him like the multitudes are doing. It takes the extra efforts to serve God. You can’t behave like others and see a different result. And even sometimes, Christians around you might not be serving Him like Jesus did. In such instances, look up to Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. You must always look up to Jesus as your role model in serving God and no other believers or the world. Other believers can help you, if they are being transformed into the image of Christ, and they’re behaving like Jesus. As Apostle Paul told the church to emulate him, because he himself is an emulator of Christ. However, today, many believers aren’t behaving like Jesus, but like other people.

If you want to see the kingdom of God, you have to be different. The word of the Lord says that friendliness with the world is enmity with Him. Don’t think you can behave like others and see it differently from others. You have to rededicate your life and dare to be different. You have to seek to behave like Jesus, and connect always with Him.

There is an attitude common with humans that angers God more than anything else. God is always true to His words and promises, but He can postpone the word and promise He had made with a man if a man engages in this common act. The act we’re talking about isn’t new to us, it’s ‘unbelief.’ Many of us might take unbelief as the state of the heart of people who doesn’t believe in the reality of Jesus. But unbelief is also eating deep into Christianity today, and also denying Christians the victorious power and victory we are supposed to enjoy. unbelief is lack of faith and trust in the love of God unto us. many people believe in Jesus, but they’re never convinced that Jesus loves them. And some others believe that the totality of His love had been spent on the cross, and there is nothing more to enjoy.

*Therefore, when the Lord heard, He was full of wrath; a fire was kindled against Jacob, and His anger mounted up against Israel, because they did not believe in God, and they did not trust in His salvation. Psalms 78:21-22*

Background to the scripture above; God has shown mighty works, goodness, kindness and love to the Israelites, but they never learn the lesson that God intended for them to learn through His benevolence towards them. God did all He did for them not to boast to Israel that He is powerful, but so that Israel can know that He loves them, that He is more powerful than anyone and anything, and He will use that great power to always protect them and show His love towards them. But Israel refused to learn the lesson, they thought God was just showcasing His mighty powers. And at the slightest of any challenge, they murmur against God. They lacked insight that the God who provided water in the wilderness and manna in the desert is showing them love, and will extend the love to every other areas of their lives as the needs demand. But when a need for meat arose, they thought God didn’t care, and so God was annoyed.

It really irks God when His children lack faith in His love unto them. He did all He hath done and all He’s doing for us to show us that He loves us and will do anything and everything for us. Many people trust more in their job, spouse, properties etc. than they trust God, and they believe that if they lost them that that’s the end for them, and as a result they compromise on every standard of faith, holiness and righteousness. I believe the lack of faith and trust in the love of God is the main reason the power and wonders are lacking in many congregations and lives. God is love, and He quite understand what love is. He won’t watch with pleasure when His beloved is sick, He won’t watch with Joy when His beloved is lacking in any good thing, He won’t smile when His beloved is in sorrow. But He can’t help it, when the beloved has no faith and trust in His love to heal, supply, bless, and give joy. We actually sadden God by not believing in His love, because our unbelief will keep Him off showing us love, and He being off means losing for us, and watching His children lose angers Him and brings Him pain.
