Odo-Otin (Osun) – Mr Adetoyi Adeyinka, of All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of Odo-Otin Constituency seat in Osun House of Assembly by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).



Prof. Mabayoje Aluko, INEC Returning Officer said on Sunday that Adeyinka scored 13, 619 votes to win the seat.

Aluko said his closet rival, Mr Adewale Egbedun of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scored 8,304 votes to place second.

Similarly, INEC has declared Mr Gbenga Ogunkanmi, of APC as winner of Ayedire Assembly seat.

Prof. Femi Agboola, INEC Returning Officer said Ogunkanmi scored 10,090 to emerge winner of the seat.

Nollywood star, Desmond Elliot, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been re-elected in the Surulere constituency l Lagos State House of Assembly election.

In the result announced on Sunday, he scored 15,357 votes, while Benjamin Olasunkanmi, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came second with 3,628 votes.

Prince Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress appears to be heading to victory in the governorship election held in Ogun state on Saturday, just like his counterparts in Lagos, Kaduna, Kwara, Kebbi, Sokoto and Bauchi States.

However, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was ahead in Adamawa, Enugu, Delta, Ebonyi and Akwa Ibom States.

In Ogun, Dapo Abiodun held steady in the nine local governments east of the state, crushing Abdulkabir Akinlade, the candidate of Governor Ibikunle Amosun, and the PDP candidate, Senator Buruji Kashamu.

NO fewer than 518 candidates would contest for the 30 seats in Anambra State House of Assembly in today’s election in the state.

Statistics from the state’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) revealed that Awka North and Awka South State constituencies, have the largest number of contestants which are 23 and 22 respectively. Also, Ayamelum, Onitsha North II and Anaocha II are constituencies with the least number of candidates in the exercise with 13 candidates each.


Similarly, while 19 candidates are contesting for the position in Aguata II, Anambra East and Awka South II constituencies, Aguata I, Oyi, Anambra West, Idemili North, and Ihiala I state constituencies have 18 candidates each. 17 candidates each would be vying for the position for Onitsha South I , Orumba South, Anaocha I, Idemili South, Njikoka I, Nnewi North, and Onitsha South II state constituencies.

INEC head of Voter Education and Publicity in the state, Mr. Leo Nkedife assured news men yesterday of the readiness of the commission to conduct free, fair and credible election.

The Enugu State Police Command has in an overnight operation arrested two suspected cultists in Emene community, an Enugu suburb.

The command’s spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, in a statement on Thursday said that the suspects were arrested at 8.00 p.m. on Wednesday.
