When a horror movie gets it right, it’s easy to forget that what you’re watching is ‘just a movie’. A believable premise, relatable characters, and gripping fear can make nightmarish creations uncannily believable.
Some monsters, creatures, and characters have remained in our collective consciousness and have become iconic for horror film buffs everywhere. These characters are the stuff that nightmares are made of. Viewers’ sleep is often disturbed for weeks after first witnessing these horrific tales. Such is the power of a good psychological thriller, or slasher film, or any other subgenre that fits the ‘horror’ mould. The following are the most iconic, terrifying creatures and characters in film history that have haunted our collective consciousness since their inception.

10. Robert Earl Hughes (1,070 lbs).


Born in June 4, 1926, Robert Earl Hughes was the heaviest man recorded in history at the time. Robert got to that alarming weight owing to a problem with his pituitary gland throughout his life, since he was already 200 lbs by the age of six years old. Hughes died in July 10, 1958 after contracting the measles, which rapidly developedinto uremia, the condition responsible for his death. Robert’s coffin was so big that it resembled a piano case, though some writers wrongfully claim that he was indeed buried in a piano case. At his death, he was the world’s heaviest man weighing in at 1041 lbs.

9. Patrick Deuel (1,072 lbs).

Patrick Deuel is a 53-year-old man from Grand Island, Nebraska, who is formerly the manager ofa restaurant. Patrick was one of the heaviest people in the world at his peak weight of 1072 lbs, before he lost a record 570 lbs in just a year with the help of a gastric bypass surgery and another surgery for removing excess skin and a huge mass of fat from his body. A documentary about Patrick dubbed “Half Ton Man” showed how Rosalie Bradford achieved a 900 lbs weight loss, which is probably what motivated Patrick to start losing weight as well.

8. Michael Hebranko (1,100 lbs).


Michael Hebranko was an American born in 1953, and remains to be one of the greatest success stories when it comes to losing weight. Suffering from a severe case of obesity, Michael grew to the weight of 1100 lbs, making him one of the heaviest people in his time. He was determined to lose the excess weight, and through exercise and dieting he got down to 198 lbs. Many people recognize him from the frequent appearances he made in commercials about losing weight as well as in TV shows. Michael died in July of 2013.

7. Francis John Lang (1,187 lbs).

Francis John Lang also goes by the name Michael Walker, and he is one of those people who have tried their best to change the world through sharing his personal experiences. Born in 1934, he had a normal childhood and even got to serve his country as a soldier. However, his addiction to prescription drugs led to him becoming overweight. Francis got a mobile homewith observation windows; he would exhibit himself at fairs and carnivals, and later talk to people about the negative consequences of taking drugs. Francis is reported to have lost over 800 lbs, and he is now approximately 370 lbs.

6. Walter Hudson (1,197 lbs).

Walter Hudson was born in 1944 in Brooklyn, New York. Walter’s waist was so large that it still holds the Guinness World Record for being the largest, at 119 inches. The heaviest weight that Walter recorded was 1197 lbs, weight that is enough to make him one of the heaviest people in the history of the world. Walter managed to lose at least 720 lbs before his death, which was caused by a heart attack. In order to get him out of his bedroom, fire rescue workers had to tear down his bedroom wall because he could not get out of the house any other way. Walter died in December 19991.

5. Carol Yager (1,200 lbs).

Carol Yager was a U.S. citizen born in 1960. Carolwas the heaviest woman ever recorded in history,with a peak weight of 1200 lbs, a record that has yet to be broken by any other woman in the world. There are unconfirmed reports that she had gotten as heavy as 1,603 lbs, a weight which,if there was proof, would make her the heaviest human being in history. Carol is famous for losing over 520 lbs in three months without the help of surgical procedures. Carol began developing health problems that required her to go to the hospital 13 times in two years, a move that required at least 15-20 firefighters to realize. Carol died in 1994.

4. Robert Butler (1,200 lbs).


Robert Butler is a U.S. citizen born in 1972, living in Providence, Rhode Island. Robert weighs approximately 1,200 lbs. His weight has forced him to live in Bannister House care home for close to ten years but he is now in hospital owingto the home’s crippling debts. Moving him required a crew equipped with a crane to carry him out of the home to the hospital, because he cannot walk or even use a wheelchair. Butler is currently adding even more weight to his body, despite his calls for the government and Medicaid to approve a gastric bypass surgery to help him deal with the issue falling on deaf ears.

3. Manuel Uribe (1,320 lbs).


Manuel Uribe was born in Monterrey, Mexico in 1965. Manuel was a celebrity during his lifetime, with the weight that was killing him giving him a lot of media attention. The sad thing is that Manuel was confined to his bed for over a decade, to the point of attending his own wedding while on his bed. With the help of nutritionists and doctors, Manuel managed to lose more than 400 lbs because his last weight measurement stood at around 869 lbs. Manuel’s death had a close relationship to cardiovascular complications and liver problems. He died in May 26, 2014.

2. Khalid Bin Mohsen Shaari (1,345 lbs).


Khalid Bin Mohsen Shaari is a man who was born in Saudi Arabia in 1991, and is still alive andwell. In August 2013, Khalid weighed in at 1,345 lbs making him the heaviest living person in his time. When news of his weight reached King Abdulla of Saudi Arabia, the king ordered that Khalid be moved to the capital Riyadh for treatment. Professionals had to use a forklift to get him out of his house to the hospital because he could not move himself. As a result, Khalid was able to lose over 700 lbs in six months, and is continuing with his treatment and living a much healthier lifestyle.

1. Jon Brower Minnoch (1,397 lbs).


Jon Brower Minnoch was a U.S. citizen born in 1941. Jon was and still remains to be the heaviest person in the world, weighing in at approximately 1,400 lbs at his peak in 1979. Jon Brower’s weight is the heaviest weight ever recorded of a human being, with more than half of it attributed to his body’s water retention resulting from a condition common in overweight people called edema. However, Jon worked hard to shed a lot of weight before he died, since one of his last weight measurements showed he was down to 796 lbs. Jon Brower died in 1983.

Being overweight is a very serious condition because it is responsible for numerous deaths annually around the world. However, being overweight is, in most cases, an easily preventable condition. Unlike some people, whose overweight condition has a strong relationship to a malfunction in their metabolism or any other medical problem, most people can simply exercise or adopt a strict diet and they willnever be at risk of any weight-related complications.Therefore, it is very important for an individual to see a weight professional as soon as he or she discovers that his or her weight is getting out of hand. The reason for consulting a professional is because everyone is unique and your body might require a special form of treatment to keep your weight in check, different from what is working for other people.The saying that ‘you are what you eat’ holds a lot of truth, because an individual cannot expect to eat excess amounts of junk foods containing harmful levels of cholesterol and think that he or she will retain the same lean figure that he or shehas always had. 11. Architects and Engineers Don’t Believe the U.S.Government’s Official Story.


When the findings in the 9/11 commission report proved to be disappointing, members from the scientific community united to form Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth (AE911Truth), a non-profit, non-partisan organization of architects, engineers, and affiliates dedicated to obtaining an independent investigation of the 9/11 attacks. The organization currently enjoys alot of support and has over 1,800 signatures from prominent architects and engineers.

10. The Twin Towers Were Not the Only BuildingsHit That Day.

When reflecting on September 11, it’s most common to remember the image of the Twin Towers collapsing. However, what’s usually forgotten is that World Trade Centre 7 and the Pentagon also suffered damage on that day. World Trade Centre 7, which suffered minimal damage from falling debris but was not hit by an airplane, completely collapsed. And the Pentagon, according to the official government report, suffered damage when it was hit by a Boeing 757. However, it’s now largely considered that the government narrative is false no plane was found in the wreckage, the hole in the Pentagon was too small to have been made by a Boeing 757, and it would be physically impossible for even the most skilled pilot to fly such a large plane into the side of the building without the engines hitting the ground first.

9. The Twin Towers Were Built to Withstand a Boeing Jet.

This point may at first seem a little ridiculous but it’s actually true. World Trade Center structural engineers and the manager of WTC Construction& Project Management, have all testified that the World Trade Center buildings were built to withstand the impact of multiple airplanes. Leslie Robertson, a World Trade Center structural engineer, states that he “designed the World Trade Center for a 707 to hit it.” And the late Frank De Martini, who was once the manager of WTC Construction & Project Management, stated that the World Trade Center “could probably sustain multiple impacts of jetliners… like a pencil puncturing a screen netting.”

8. World Trade Centre 7 Collapsed but was Not Hit by a Plane.


Out of all the events that occurred on 9/11, the collapse of building 7 is one that continues to baffle scientists to this day. Although building 7 was not hit by a plane, it collapsed in 6.5 second sat free fall acceleration and in an almost identical fashion to the twin towers. Furthermore, it’s well documented that steel-framed high rise building shave never collapsed from fire or structural damage. In light of this evidence, many have come to the conclusion that the collapse of building 7 was a controlled demolition. 7. Nano-thermite Explosives Were Found in the Debris.

In the days following the 9/11 attacks, nano-thermite explosives were discovered and collected from Ground Zero. This is an incredibly important fact to note, as nano-thermite has been used on many occasions to demolish steel structures. Upon the discovery of nano-thermite, Brigham Young University Physics Professor, Dr. Steven Jones, led an international team of nine scientists to investigate the possibility of explosives being involved in the destruction of the World Trade Centers. After many laboratory tests and a scrupulous peer-review process, the scientists concluded that nano-thermite explosives did indeed play a part in the collapse of the twin towers. Dr. Jones and his team had their work published in the Bentham Chemical Physics Journal.

6. Jet Fuel Doesn’t Melt Steel Beams.


A major cause listed for the World Trade Centre collapse was that the fuel from the jets caused the steel beams supporting the towers to melt. However, jet fuel burns at 800° to 1500°F, and steel melts at 2750°F. Furthermore, Vincent Dunn, former chief of the New York fire department, claims he’s never seen melted steel in a building fire.

5. The 9/11 Commission Report Has 28 Pages Missing.


Formally named the Final Report of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, the 9/11 Commission Report is the official report of events concerning the 9/11 attacks. Unfortunately, the report is shrouded in controversy. First, 28 pages of the report have never been released to the public and remain classified. Second, the commission complained they couldn’t effectively conduct their investigation due to extremely limited funds. Consider this, the commission received $15 million to investigate 9/11 whereas over $60 million was spent investigating the Monica Lewinsky scandal. Lastly, 6 out of 10 members ofthe 9/11 commission testified to the investigation being “set up to fail.”

4. FBI Confiscated 84/85 Videos From the Pentagon.


According to the U.S. government, on 9/11, the Pentagon was hit by a Boeing 757. However, this claim has become highly disputed and a number of scientists and activists have proposed alternative theories concerning what really occurred. These alternative theories are what the government prefers to call conspiracy theories. However, if the government was really concerned about the truth and denouncing conspiracy theories, the best course of action it could take would be to present as much evidence as possible. Well as it turns out, the Pentagon is one of the most secure and surveilled areas on the planet, boasting more CCTV cameras than any other building in America. Yet despite this, the FBI immediately confiscated 84 out of the 85 CCTV recordings from that day. So this raises a question, why would the U.S. government go out of its way to confiscate practically all video footage of the Pentagon attacks? More seriously, why should anyone believe the government or any person or group for that matter if they refuse to present any evidence to back their claims?

3. NYC Mayor Skipped his Weekly Meeting at the WTC on 9/11.

Every Tuesday morning, NYC Mayor Rudolph Giuliani would attend a meeting at WTC building 7. However, on the day of 9/11, Giuliani’s meetingwas cancelled. Furthermore, there are numerous cases of individuals claiming they received calls advising them not to go into work on the morning of 9/11.
