Volkswagen will reduce its offer of minivans in favor of SUVs Most car manufacturers are very focused on the sale of SUVs and crossovers, which are the most demanded bodies today. That is also affecting their ranges, seeing how the supply of other bodies is reduced. Some of the most affected have been the coupes or convertibles, but they are not the only ones. Now Volkswagen is considering removing some minivans to reduce production costs. The German brand has been simplifying its range gradually, while focusing on the launch of SUV. To summarize, some withdrew like the Volkswagen Beetle, the Scirocco, the Phaeton or the Eos. At the same time, they launched others such as the Volkswagen T-Roc or the T-Cross, which joined the crossover range alongside the Tiguan and Touareg. The next thing that is in view are the minivans. Arno Antlitz, chief financial officer of Volkswagen, said they still had to see if they need three minivans in the range. They currently have the Volkswagen Golf Sportsvan, the Touran and the Sharan; sorted by size. If we order them by sales, it is the Touran that is first with 69,814 units sold in the first eleven months of the year (although with a drop of 14%). It is followed by Golf Sportsvan with 40,215 units (-26%) and Sharan with 20,854 copies sold (+1.7%). The model will enter the market next year. In the Fiat range, the Toro pickup truck with a monocoque body appeared in 2016, the model is built on an extended version of the “bogie” of the Jeep Renegade crossover. The production of the truck is established in Brazil, this country is the main market for the model, and there it is in good demand. So, last year 65,566 copies were sold (+ 12%). In the same 2019, Toro was slightly modernized, but Fiat is already working on a second, more significant update: camouflaged test samples have been caught on Brazilian roads more than once, but the interior has not been exposed before. Now, thanks to the publication Autos Segredos, which published the next spy shots, we have an idea of what will change inside. Think about how good this LEGO Fiat 500 would look on your desktop The photo is of poor quality, but, nevertheless, the main new thing is visible – the Toro received a multimedia system with a vertical touchscreen, which, obviously, also brought the “climate” control.
