The Texas-based carmaker Hennessey has completed development of its first all-original Venom F5 trans-engine supercar, which is positioned as the world’s most powerful production car with internal combustion engines

Hennessey first showed the Venom F5 in the fall of 2017 at SEMA, but then the model debuted as a prototype, and the production version was shown this week with a promise to deliver the ordered cars to customers during 2021 (this year Hennessey will celebrate its 30th anniversary). Recall that the name Venom is translated from English as “poison”, and the F5 index refers to the Fujita scale, which evaluates the degree of danger of a tornado. The design of the production Venom F5 has not changed much compared to the prototype. The body is based on a carbon fiber monocoque weighing only 86 kg. All exterior body panels are also CFRP. The curb weight of the car is 1385 kg. There is no newfangled active aerodynamics, but thorough blowing in the tube guarantees adequate behavior of the car at high speeds. For a surcharge, a “track package” is offered with a more aggressive front splitter and a rear wing on the struts instead of a spoiler integrated into the rear.

The production version of the Alfa Romeo 4C debuted in 2013 and received rave reviews from the press for its spectacular design and gambling handling, but the too cramped interior, low level of comfort and high price did not contribute to market success – hardly FCA was able to recoup the development of this high-tech model. The fact is that, due to the complexity of the design, the assembly of the Alfa Romeo 4C was organized at the Maserati factory in Modena, and that exactly in November 2019 was closed for reconstruction in connection with the preparation for the production of the Maserati MC20 supercar, which debuted in September this year. It turns out that production of the Alfa Romeo 4C was temporarily suspended, although the model did leave many markets last year – now it is not even on the Alfa Romeo consumer site in its native Italy, but in the form of an open version of the Spider, the 4C model is still available in the USA, and it is in this market that the final series of the 33 Stradale Tributo, consisting of 33 vehicles, will be marketed.

The name of the farewell version refers to the 1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale supercar, one of the fastest and most beautiful of its time: its 2.0-liter V8 produced 230 hp. in road specification and about 275 hp. in the racing. Acceleration to 100 km / h for the road version took less than 6 seconds, the maximum speed is 260 km / h.
