Passport request May 05, 2017
Passport received May 10, 2017
Approved May 10, 2017

Thanks to everyone
I applied from Poland.

I almost gave up about studying in Canada because I had stories about challenges applying outside Nigeria but someone in this forum encouraged me, even when I find it difficult to provide a good SOA. All I provided was my retired dad's statement with just 500k. Though the PhD is funded but just approximately 17CAD per year.
To those still awaiting approval never give up, I would also help with prayers am also available to help review SOP, this would reduce the burden placed on the gurus in the thread.

Hello bro,

I will need your attention . I had masters in Information Technology with CGPA of 4.55 and considering University of Saskatchewan for PhD in Computer Science. Presently am in China. I will be glad to relate with you.

Hope you are enjoying your stay over there now.

Thank you.

As for UOA supervisor is not necessary when you are applying. Just apply after your application pass their admission criteria, the will contact you to choose your supervisor.that is how I myself got the admission

Hello bro,

I am currently applying for PhD at the University of Auckland but I stay in China now. I tried submitting my application online but not going through. I graduated with CGPA of 4.55 at masters level in Information Technology. Can you advise which better way to submit the application. Also, is there anyone in UOA to help and I can relate with?

Thank you.

The truth of the matter is; it is very hard to get funding in Caribbean Island. Unless you are exceptionally luck.

Good morning bro,

Thanks for the piece of information. I came across University of West Indies in Barbados. After I checked the requirement etc. For PHd in computer science in which there are numbers of research courses under , related to IT. I discovered they have funding called UFC.

And they still require one to pay some fees. No sure if it is just the service fees or tuition. I will thoroughly check the PDF when am less busy.

Maybe OP (Mouth Action) could also beam more light on it if he has the idea of the UFC funding for some courses.

Thanks DeeTus.

Mind you tip of guideline and direction could help with out following all his ways.We have different career path. So asking him is not a crime either copying him. Read well his post and see that he encouraged people on trying another route. Right now am already researching on schools for PhD being funded in the Caribbean.

Allow those you are ready to help make available information.

Thank you.

Hey all.

I haven't seen this type of thread on Nairaland. Been thinking of creating this for a while now so people (everyone) in similar situations will have a guide.
I noticed that Immigrant visa threads here mostly is about people that their Immediate family filed for them (father, mother, siblings etc).
what about the rest of us with no immediate family that are citizens?. What about people getting married to a USC?.
This thread will focus on adjustment of status (B1/B2, J1, F1, H1b etc) to PR through marriage to a USC
Kindly note that i am not married to my gf yet. We have been dating now close to 2 years (will be 2 years in few days grin grin) and it has been awesome (it does have its ups and down too grin grin). we finally decided it is time [s](well she convinced me beyond reasonable doubt..lol)[/s] and we are gonna get marry pretty soon.
So i was like "why not create a thread to document the journey for others to gain one or two things and also to get advise about paperwork amnd how to file for adjustment.

Kindly note that : Marrying a USC for the sole purpose of gaining a permanent stay is illegal and seen as Immigration fraud and it is a deportable (if there's a word like that) offense. I AM NOT and DO NOT encourage anyone to do that (Marriage fraud) for the purpose of staying in the US. (if you do am, na your own wahalah)

I do however wanna share my story and journey for the purpose of enlightenment and encouragement and also to get various inputs WITHOUT giving out personal details

I will be updating the thread as events unfolds and juicy backstory plus all the hustling too

Big Bro, thank you very much for the wonderful information you have shared on this thread.

Please can you recommend a good school in the Caribbean one can attend that has scholarship. I have BSc in Electronics and Computer Engineering and Masters in Information Technology just thinking Caribbean could also be a good link to integrate with USA. I plan of doing my PhD while I can also work. I don't mind when on holidays could travel to US and work based on the information you have shared.

I look forward for you guide.

Thank you

[quote author=slimmy2005 Did you get any funding? Yes, you can apply from China since you’re a student there. You’ll have to explain why you want to move to US for studies[/quote]

Yes boss, I got funding (stipend monthly), but the language course is complicated and the long period to finish just masters program. A quick one here mentor, my sponsor is in Nigeria hope I can get his statement of account and sponsorship to use in China since am applying from China and the letter is re-addressed to China.

Thank you for the prompt reply.

Hello Gurus in the house,

I will need your advice on how to go about this matter. I just recently entered China with a scholarship and with a three months visa but processing my residence permit on student status based on the masters program. Although, before I left Nigeria I had applied for admission into one of the universities in the USA and upon arrival in China I was informed of my admittance to the USA university for masters program in Telecommunication and Networking Engineering which would last for two years, but that of the China with one year language course would last for four years (Information and Communication Engineering).

Having thought in my mind I would preferred to go for the two years in USA. The initial address given to the school was Nigeria address.

Please hope I can apply for F1 visa at the USA Embassy in China after I have collected my residence permit and redirect my admission letter to China since I would be applying from here. The university in USA would be resuming in January 2018 (Spring Term).

Your kind contribution and articulate experience would highly be appreciated.

Thank you all for the good work out here and God bless you all.
