Popular Tanzanian actress, Wema Sepetu was captured on camera crying after being ordered by a court to spend seven days behind bars for posting sexually explicit videos and photos on the internet.

Wema Sepetu, who is notorious for feeding her followers with Nood videos and photos, crossed the battle line in November last year as she was arrested and charged for sharing indecent photos and videos online.

Her woes began in October 2018 after her Instagram account was hacked. An intimate video of herself and her now ex-boyfriend, Patrick, was shared and it went viral on social media.

According to Tanzanian law, anybody who violates the Electronic law is faced with a ban of 6 months and barring them from using social media or participating in any works related to music or film. The offender is also asked to issue an apology over their indecent acts.

Wema Seputu was banned from participating in any film-related works indefinitely with a fine of Tsh10 million.

The ban was later lifted after six months but the case has been pending in court.

The beautiful actress is reported to have failed to appear in court on some occasions, prompting the court to issue an order for her arrest.

When she was brought before the Kisutu Magistrate’s Court on Monday, June 17, Sepetu’s pleaded for forgiveness, saying her failure to show up in court was as a result of tight work schedule and other genuine reasons, the judge was adamant.

The resident magistrate, Maira Kasonde remanded her in police custody to reappear on June 24 when the case will be called for further hearing.

”The case will be heard again on June 24 this year; therefore, the accused should be locked up until that date,” Maira Kasonde said.

Sepetu was in tears as she was led out of the courtroom by prison warders. She will remain locked up until June 24 when her bail hearing is set.

Operatives of Operation Puff Adder have arrested a nursing mother identified as Simeon Esther, for being in possession of one AK47 Rifles and 18 rounds of live ammunition.

According to the police, the gun, which was carefully concealed in a travel bag, was meant for a kidnap operation in Ogun State.

The suspect, however, said she was promised N5000 by her husband who asked her to go deliver the bag to someone in Ogun State.

The Police said other members of the gang were awaiting the weapon which would have been used to kidnap a senior citizen in the state.

In an interview with TheNation, Esther said: “On Wednesday, my husband, Bright Gbade, called me and asked me to go and deliver the bag to somebody in Ogun State. .

He did not even tell me the name of the person, he only told me that the person will call me. I did not know the content of the bag and they did not even allow me to carry the bag. They carried the bag themselves to the motor park. .

It was while we were on our way that the policemen searched the bag and found the gun in it. We have been married for two years and I did not know that my husband is a criminal. .

He said he is a fisherman when he was asking me out and before I accepted his proposal, he said he was one of the militants who surrendered their weapons during the amnesty programme.

I even relocated to my mother’s house because of the way he treats me. I was at my mother’s house when he called me to help him deliver the bag in Ogun State and he promised to give me N5000 but he ended up not giving me.”

Few days ago, there was a viral video of a Nigerian woman living in Italy who supposedly went to the Nigerian Embassy and allegedly got manhandled because she wanted document to go back to Nigeria. .

The lady is allegedly a well known serial substance abuser living in Italy......One of the Videos above show her dancing at the embassy after she was given food and another was her being asked questions about the scene at the embassy and if she was actually harassed/ beaten.

I was annoyed that day and i sat on the floor,my leg was paining me,true its what happened,nobody beat me''.

However, the Nigerian Diaspora Commission equally reacted the the video, stating that she wasn't abused by any of their staff at the said embassy.

Goods worth millions of naira were on Friday midnight destroyed at the popular Orita-Aperin market in Ibadan, following a fire incident that its course was yet to be known.

While speaking with newsmen at the scene of the inferno on Saturday, the Babaloja of Orita-Aperin, Abiodun Ahmed, said that goods worth millions of naira were lost, adding that the cause of the incident was yet to be known.

According to him: “The fire started by 12 midnight on Friday, and we immediately called on Oyo State Fire Service but unfortunately, when they got here, the nuzzle of their truck was not functioning, so we have to resolve to self help by putting out the fire ourselves, or else, the loss would have been more than this.”

The Babaloja noted that most of the owners of the shops affected by the fire just bought goods into their respective shops, adding that, that was what made the total value of the goods affected by the fire to be much.

He, however, appealed to the Oyo State Government to come to their aide because the loss was too much for the victims to bear.

A 50-year old woman has been arrested by the police for allegedly buying a new born baby at the rate of N500, 000 at No. 3 Onyekwore street, Awada, Onitsha in Anambra state.

The suspect, Juliet Onweagba, was said to have conspired with a 49-year old woman, Edith Ewudo, to purchase the baby from one Ndidi Egeonu.

Confirming the arrest, the police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, said the baby has been recovered.

He said, “On the 12/6/2019 at about 7:pm, Police detectives attached to Awada division arrested one Juliet Onweagba ‘f’ aged 50 years of No 3 Onyekwore Street Awada.
“Suspect conspired with one Edith Ewudo aged 49 years of Orsumoghu street Awada and bought a new born baby girl at the sum of N550,000 from one Ndidi Egeonu ‘f’ aged 35 years of Odume Obosi.
“The baby was stolen from the mother one Udechukwu Faith ‘f’ aged 23 years of 3-3 Onitsha shortly after delivery on the 2/6/2019.

He said the case was being investigated after which suspects would be charged to court.

A customer relationship manager with First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Kehinde Adewuyi, was on Tuesday arraigned before the Igbosere Magistrates’ Court for allegedly converting the sum of N52,628,000 from his employer’s account to his personal use.

The 36-year-old suspect was arraigned on three counts bordering on stealing.

The suspect was arrested by policemen from the Lion Building Police Division following a complaint by the bank’s forensic auditors, Solomon Akhanolu and Owei Chris.

According to the police, the alleged fraud was discovered when the account was audited, which revealed that the accused had defrauded the lender to the tune of N52,628,000.

The police prosecutor, Reuben Solomon, told the court that Adewuyi committed the crime with two others at large between February and March 2019 at the bank’s headquarters in Lagos.

Solomon also alleged that Adewuyi forged the signatures of the Relationship Manager, Mobolaji Sunmoni, and the Group Head, Ademola Adegbusi, to fraudulently withdraw the money from the bank’s account.

There will be no fanfare in the celebration of democracy day in Yobe State.

Investigation has revealed that the state arrived at the decision following contemplation as to whether to merge the celebrations with the State reception of the new Senate President, Dr. Ahmed Lawan, the son of the soil to the state.

No one is sure when the celebrations will be held as according to the chairman of publicity Sub-committee Mala Musti said some adjustments have been made to the initial arrangements of activities for the democracy celebration in the state.

“The chairman Publicity Sub committee for the inauguration of the Executive Governor of Yobe state, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni and the 2019 democracy day celebration, Alhaji Mala Musti wishes to inform the general public that some adjustments have been effected in the earlier activities lined-up for the 2019 democracy day celebration.

“Consequent upon this development, prayer sessions for peace, tranquillity and progress of the state and the country, in general, will be held on 12th June 2019 at the Yobe Mosque and Islamic Centre, Damaturu as well as all the local government councils of the state.

“In that regard, people of the state are therefore enjoined to pray for lasting peace, security and bumper harvest in the state and the nation as a whole,” the statement read in part.
