A lady has called out the Nigerian Police after an incident she witnessed at Okpanam road close to sweet spirit hotels in Asaba, Delta State.

According to her, a man got brutalized by two police officers for refusing a phone check immediately the stopped the Keke Napep he was inside.

The man on refusing the check, received the beating of his life, including slaps and "brushing".

Akwa Ibom Elections: INEC Ad-hoc Staff Testifies against the PDP at tribunal with video evidence

The hearing of the petition challenging the victory of the incumbent governor of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Emmanuel Udom, by the APC gubernatorial candidate, Obong Nsima Ekere, took a dramatic turn on Wednesday, 24th July, as one of the Adhoc staff employed by the Independent National Electoral Commission in the 9th March 2019 elections was called to the stands.

The election petition tribunal sitting in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital on Wednesday, began receiving witnesses and testimonies, as part of its ongoing efforts to interrogate the events that led to the announcement of the incumbent governor as the winner in the race to the Hilltop Mansion location of the Governorment House, Uyo, following a petition brought before it by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Obong Nsima Ekere.

He was called to the stands by the Lead Counsel to the petitioner, J. S. Okutepa (SAN) and in his testimony, the INEC Ad-hoc Staff (names witheld), who was posted to a polling unit in Obot Akara LGA as Assistant Presiding Officer (APO2), described that on the day, electoral activities had commenced normally, until suddenly, a gang of hoodlums brandishing all kinds of dangerous weapons arrived in a 14-seater bus, and promptly chased away innocent citizens who had queued up to carry out their civil duties by exercising rights to vote.

Upon arrival, he continued, the officials were led into a large room where they met a number of other Adhoc INEC officials, including his immediate boss (who was captured in the video) and others who had likely been abducted from other polling units, and made to forcefully thumbprint on provided ballot papers.

The hearing was subsequently adjourned till Monday, 29th July 2019, on which day the 1st defendant is expected to open their case.

Here is a moment Dino Melaye was shut up with a thunderous "no" after he asked the Director of Strategic Communication for the All Progressives Congress Campaign Council, Mr Festus Keyamo (SAN), to recite the second stanza of the National anthem.

The scene played out on the floor of the Senate when Keyamo, a ministerial nominee from Delta State, appeared for screening.


While asking the nominee questions during the screening, Melaye started by describing Keyamo as his good friend and that their relationship dated back to years.

The senator as saying, “I want to start by congratulating my friend, Festus Keyamo. I just want to start by saluting your intellectual sagacity and from your CV, you have practised law in and out and this practice has been so recognised by you getting the highest title any lawyer can earn in this country, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and your being a prosecutor for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for so many years.


“I want to ask you as a qualified lawyer and a man who is even qualified for the office of the Attorney General of the Federation. Peradventure the President sends you to the Ministry of Justice with all your experiences, do you think in the last four years, the power of the Attorney General met these three conditions: public interest, interest of justice and need to prevent abuse of legal process?”

After the questions, Melaye then asked Keyamo to recite the second stanza of the national anthem.


“I just want to say that as a versatile minister, I know you to be intellectually mobile, you recite the second stanza of the national anthem,” he said.

However, the senator’s request was met with a thunderous “no.” But Melaye stood his ground even after his microphone was switched off.

Shouting on the top of his voice, the Kogi lawmaker said, “Mr Chairman, screening as it has been described is meant for us to screen the candidates…”


But the President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan, overruled Melaye.

“That is not a question. So you have asked about two questions. You have asked very serious questions, so you can disregard the other part,” he said.

Here is a video of Bobrisky arriving the police station after he was invited on July 24th over a N665k debt.

Bobrisky was reportedly ‘arrested’, over an alleged breach of endorsement agreement between him and the management of the boutique.

However, after he signed an undertaking to pay N300k today and balance up later, he was granted bail at the police station.

Bobrisky in his reaction to the arrest report via Instagram, alleged that the lady behind his ‘arrest’ was pained that he dropped her contract.

A Nigerian, Adebayo Ogunlesi, has acquired the London Gatwick Airport as the new owner. The Gatwick deal is a £1.455 billion agreement with BAA Airports Limited.

Ogunlesi, 56, is the chairman and managing partner, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), an independent investment fund based in New York City with worldwide stake in infrastructure assets.

According to the report, Ogunlesi, the son of an 86-year old professor of medicine has presided over a great number of sweet deals that made him the envy of his peers abroad even if his forays into the brisk world multi-billion dollars deals are barely talked about in his home country.

GIP will be investing through Ivy Bidco Limited, a limited liability company registered in England, established for the purpose of making the acquisition.

Bidco will pay cash consideration of £1,455 million for the entire share capital of Gatwick Airport Limited on a cash-free, debt-free basis. Ogunlesi says the acquisition of Gatwick is a landmark deal for GIP and adds another quality asset to his firm's rapidly expanding portfolio.

He said, "we see significant scope to apply both our strong operational focus and our knowledge of the airports sector to make Gatwick an airport of choice." He began stacking up his big deals profile when he joined the top-shelf New York law firm, Cravath, Swain & Moore. It was at the law firm that he jumped at the chance to advise First Boston (which later acquired Credit Suisse in 1997 to form Credit Suisse First Boston or CSFB) on a hugely lucrative Nigerian gas project.

The success of that deal landed him his first big pay move to First Boston. For First Boston, he worked on project finance, brokering deals in which lenders finance assets like oil refineries and mines and are repaid with revenues generated by those enterprises.

Based in New York City and traveling to emerging markets, he built CSFB's project-finance business into the world's best, in part by encouraging corporations and governments to tap public debt markets in addition to commercial lenders.

His teacher while at King's College, Lagos, J. Namme, said that Bayo, as he is fondly called, loves getting things done.
