Hello Nairalandworld Lets make some profit today and lets see how we can go consistently, for 9 days. As we all know, most prediction site's, punters, are more interested in your money than in you winning, and its a pity, the bulk in the betting pool, always always, and will always pay for crappy service. but lets try this. First, lets lay the rules of Sports-betting: 1. Don't accumulate more than four odds 2. Restrict your accumulations to 4 per time. 3. start staking with 1K. stop dashing the bookies your N100. 4. Stake regularly. and with time, you wont need to pay anyone. 5. Understand that Sports betting is highly probabilistic. So do not raise your hopes too high. 1st In The Series Of Soccer Rows. The Australian Open is already 3 days underway. nevertheless, there has been massive upsets, Fernando Verdasco routs Rafael Nadal in a Five set thriller. when the tournament draws came out, I just had to pity Nadal, Verdasco being one of the best left hand player's in the tournament. Tennis, is a game with high rate of upset, (Nadal, Anderson, David young, Simona Halep, Venu williams, Caroline woznaicki, already ousted in first round), however, the good thing is that with "DISCIPLINE" of proper analysis, and record of player's performance. A very safe rule for tennis, is not to alwways stake on Favorites, (especially female Tennis); and if possible, avoid most female Tennis, stick to MEN'S Games, and Probably COnsistent players like Victoria Azerenka, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, Carlos Suarez, Angelie Kerber, Pliscova...ANy outside this six is not Sure. Questions are the hazard of an apologists life. Apologetics comes from the greek word "Apologea" which is the same word Apostle peter used in the sermon at pentecost when the people were so confused; He said , let me "Explain" to you what what jist happened, let me give you an Apologea. Then in 1Pet 3:15-16, He says, always be prepared to give an Apologetic, for the hope that is within you, and to do it , with Gentleness and respect. Apologetics has a broad sweep of two central concepts :- 1. Giving an answer and 2. Giving an Explanation. Apologetics clarifies truths claims, ( it doesnt muddy the waters) and it does this clarification by by coming to the level of the questioner; because more than answering a question; you are always answering a questioner. Somebody is behind that question and if you answer the questions, but not the questioner, you may come through as being very erudite, knowledgeable; but you are not being persuasive to the person looking for an answer In the book of Habakkuk chapter 1:2-4; we have a series of questions. And the issues raised here, are hot topics in our time - Violence, Injustice, Evil. How can God allow all this go on unrecompenced? This was the cry of the prophet and it is resoundingly poignant today. Many of us feel as such, when we watch all the bombings, innocent lives suddenly pulverized. Then the legal experts come-in and we watch the same mental gymnastics going on once more. The questions remain; "Violence, Injustice, Evil". The answers are not as easy. But when you come at the same question from different answers , you're invariably coming from different assumptions. What the Christian worldview does, almost everytime, is that, its explanatory power over reality is much more in keeping with life's inescapable questions, the power to explain not just a peculiar Issue, but within the context of a broader spectrum of issues. More oft than not you'll find its explanatory power, far more real, relevant, than yhe Naturalistic or materialistic worldviewcan ever giveto you, especially in times like this. To the sheer Naturalist/Materialist, we are nothing more than mere product of the random colocation of atoms; a bleep on the radar screen of time, almost as the existentialist Jean P. Satre would have said " An empty bubble, floating on the sea of nothingness ( Ironically, Satre, in his veteran years, as he near's his death says he finds it difficult to cling to his ahiestic existential beliefs and position anymore because it has no explanatory power (it could provide some pragmatic help for certain situations in life, but in the broad picture its not there). In 1980, the best known athiest, was Anthony flu, but few years ago, he said he could no longer hold to his athiesm, because the explanatory power is not just there, For some of the Inescapable questions that life brings to you. Thus, Answers can be meaningful, without being comprehensive. God gives us three questions through the mouth of Habakkuk. The first is VIOLENCE: Take a look at our statistics today in our world; in Europe, for instance, in the 17th century, 3.3 million were killed in warfare, in the 18th cent. 5.2Million, in the 19th century, 5.5 Million, in the 20th Cent. (The bloodiest century) 28 Million in warfare alone, were killed. This excludes the over 60Million killed in China, Scores of millions in Russia, 3Million in Cambodia, and The Millions slaughtered in our own Country Nigeria; and who knows about all the slaughter that goes on behind the scenes which never makes statistical study. At the top end of the 19th century (1900), the German philosopher, Fredrick Nietzche, (Initially he said "God is dead", i.e the existence of God is no longer philosophically defensible), made the comment that because God had Philosophically died, The 20th century will become the bloodiest century in history and a unoversal madness will break out. (He took the first step, and spent the last 13 years of his life insane); Ironically, his father and Grandfather, were Pastors. Our modern day vocivarous athiest can talk a lot about anti-thiesm, but they are no where as honest as Nietszche or even Darwin who said that If his physics and Biology was right, the metaphysics of it all, was going to breed untold violence because nature, was red, in tooth and claw. Worse is the fact that people have become cold and desensitized, almost unconcerned with the rate of mass murder, violence happening in our world today. Eichmann once said " One death is a tragedy, a million death is a statistic" thats how it has become. But we think violence is just restricted to warfare, but who knows all yhe violence going on behind the scenes everyday; This was Habakkuk's cry to God, "HOW LONG WILL VIOLENCE CONTINUE; AND YOU KEEP WATCHING "?? (continued) |
continued... Now, as you begin to pry in, and life wears on you, you begin to discover that the disciplines are too intricate for one single line of reasoning to make that knock down argument and close the case - it just doesn't work that way. Many of us will like to say... just give your tithes, pray, go to church, dont do this and do that - but it just doesn't work that way. No worldview, ever comes together just by one line of argument. There has to be a coalescing, a coming together of much and the ability to explain that which is to the contrary, else we keep going round circles, or keep taking a step forward and four backwards, being busy, but guilty. We can put together, another link in this beautiful chain, by learning, to mind the gaps. You and I, have gaps in our experience with God that seems to feed the incoherence; below are some of these gaps: 1.When knowledge is not in keeping with reality - when what we think we know doesn't align with what We're seeing outside. This happens because of our finitude; we are just limited as human beings; yes we can do alot, and long to break beyond the barriers, we engage, learn, study, interact, keep pushing the limits.. but we realize more and more, that There's so much to be known that we don't know. It was Isaac Newton that one's remarked that Even as he got more and more into the years, he just felt like a little boy, sitting by the beach, just getting his toes wet when there was so much of the ocean of knowledge, into which he could never fully submerge himself. We see great volumes like the encyclopedia Britannica, completed in 1974, taking 14years to complete, having a stat of 200 advisors, 300 editors, 4000 contributors, over 100000 entries, 34 million dollars, 43 million words; yet, this trumps and pales by contrast, in just one single strange locked into our DNA. Recent mappers of the DNA tells us there are 2.1 billion bits of information in our DNA. From a single fertilized ovum, over 9months ,billions of cells appear; up to 100 trillion cells from a single fertilized ovum. In a single thread of DNA, there are 600000 printed pages of information, a library of 1000 volumes, 50 times the size of Encyclopedia Britannica. The vastness, so much to know; yet the finitude of the human mind. Personally, I am a lover of books as some of us are. And some times when entering a bookstore or library, have to visit the restroom, out of sheer exhilaration and excitement of vastness of the knowledge and experience of man; but time and again I am reminded, that my mind is finite -and there will always be gaps (to be continued ). |
Many times we struggle with God, expecting him to come through in certain specific ways; some of us might think like mathematicians, and say if you can take 2 numbers, add them up together, and come up with a conclusion, its inescapable to dodge it, avoid it or reinterpret it. Why cant God present himself to us that way? Where you can take the major premise and minor premise and they're valid in their linkage and the deductions flow; why can't God be like that? especially as We're told that he has called us to reason together; and afterall He is the source of all right reasoning. Others of us will say; Why can't he be like a lawyer? where you can take all of the accumulative evidence together, make the argument, present it to a jury and they come up with a conclusion beyond any reasonable doubt; why can't God muster up that kind of confluence of evidence; so that it becomes inescapable for you and me to make up the right deductions? Then to some, why can't he be like an artist; where you stand on a high mountain peak, look out and see an absolutely spectacular sunset and it is indubitable at that moment that this is something beautiful and therefore, to the artistic mind, if we can just all take a look at all the glorious things He has created and say, "There's no other conclusion than that "; why can't he be like that kind of artist? To the scientific mind, why can't he be like a scientist? Where you can take this liquid put it together with that liquid, put it into a testtube and over a burner; when it turns green it becomes obvious what the conclusion is. (to be continued ) |
stagger:Very True sir.. but dont forget, you're able to help them, Probably also because you are working, not because you're going to church only..let every man work, and he shall be liberated from poverty. The word alone wont help solve poverty alone. Blesss!! |
Cateyes07:This is true. But a problem with this mode of thought is that, the idea of "following what works.for you " is too relativistic. Some people have 10 houses, but dont even believe in God; some people have been following God's teaching (not oyedepo ) and cant yet afford to build themselves a home. it's not by Miracles. Please note this is not an attack. Let's take into consideration, the whole body, when making points, lets not just selfishly focus on "what works for me "!!... bless you. |
