An 18 seater bus somersaulted at the dreaded Akaeze Ukwu bridge in Ivo LGA of Ebonyi State on Wednesday with many passengers inside said to have been burnt to ashes excluding the driver. One of the frontline broadcasters in Ebonyi State, Dr Simon Ezaka last Sunday lost his life through an accident around Okoffia, Ezza South LGA, Ebonyi State.
Popularly called SMJ, Dr Ezaka had laced his voice on virtually all the radio stations in Ebonyi State at one time or the other, including EBBS, EBBC, UNITY FM and EBSU radio. His sonorous voice always captivates the airwaves.

The increase allocation the state is getting is causing madness and aggravated planlessness. Meanwhile, Abakaliki is so small and development is moving towards Ochudo area, so no need for another flyover and this heartless destruction which has affected the livelihood of many poor people, including at least three banks and one of the biggest pharmacies in the state. Again, even if this must be, government should have carried the affected people along and know how to assuage the situation rather than overnight destruction of their wellbeing. Incidentally, a government that promotes people's charter of needs policy. This is so sad and worrisome and a doubt how the governor is being advised.

Is NERC working? Every effort to draw the attention of NERC to the deplorable power situation at Hatchery layout, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State and the poor performance of EEDC have failed. Bad enough is that the ministry and the regulatory commission are only interested in cashing out at the detriment of helpless and hapless customers. Businesses are collapsing, while social life are no more at Hatchery layout Abakaliki and some people are only interested in hiking electricity tariff. Shame to these shameless officers.
