Where did you get your statistic from? |
It all depend on when when u ve money to fund the project. However, doing it in raining season is better as you will be able to correct all installation lapses . If you dont mind roofing your new building with solar integrated metal roofing sheet, send mail to eztopenergy.ng@gmail.com. It is the latest roofing technology in town. |
Issue of energy efficiency is vital for all green energy practitioners as all designs start here. The truth is that the level of awareness of green energy is still very low in Nigeria. Government, Green energy Engineers, Architects and developers all have one or two roles to play in ensuring that green energy compete with other sources of energy. While some forward thinking countries are working towards playing down on radioactive, coal & fuel burning, just by encouraging green energy sources, Nigeria is yet to find her bearing. There is a need for the government to start implementing the recomendations of NIGERIAN energy technocrats in solving our energy issue right from generation and transmission to distribution. For more than ten years, generating capacity revolves round 6000MW and actual generation 4000MW and we still don't know that energy mix is the solution. Green energy practitioners have failed customers on several occations. A system badly done takes us one step forward and hundred steps backward. Few months back, I was talking to a contact in Ekiti state government on the possibility of roofing their housing estate with solar roofing sheet. I was made to understand that the present administration is very relunctant in spending on solar as those done under past governor were nothing but complete failure. Solar street lights along Ogba and that of Opebi are few of the failed projects in Lagos. There is a need to institute a body that will oversee all activities of practitioners to as to ensure only quality jobs are done. Architects, developers and end users need to start developing passion for green energy because in near future, it will become the principal means of generating energy in Nigeria. |
Another bad news for us in green energy business. God will punish all the perpetrators |
@ Olat Congrats on new development in your area. Answer to ur question is a function of the type and quality of ur inverter. inverter that charges battery has in-built charger. On & off type of charger has no regulated mode of charging and thus could not prevent overcharging. PWM and MPPT types are more efficient as they stop the flow of current to the battery once the battery bank is full. |

inferior solar projects executed 4 some state government have really brought blemish to the growth of green energy solution in Nigeria. Ekiti state would run at the mention of green energy all because huge amount was expended by past government with no positive result. Bad solar street light projects on several Lagos streets (e.g ogba and opebi) is another reason why people think solar does not worth investing on. In the past few years that I ve been on solar, it has never failed me for once and I have never received any negative feedback from several jobs I have done. The truth is that solar works wonder when designed perfectly. A body that will enforce quality project needs to be set up so that the green energy market can once again be revitalized. eztopenergy.ng@gmail.com |
Inverter only converts dc current to ac current while battery is the energy bank. Ur battery determines efficiency ur system. Good system will not let you drain ur battery beyond 50% SOC or DOD so as to prolong the lifespan of ur battery. There is a saying that batteries dont die, they are murdered. Whether a battery will die after 6 months or still be strong after 6 yrs depend on usage. The secrete is that u dont overcharge and dont overdischarge ur baterries. 1. Dod (depth of discharge) should not be more than 50%. 2. Go for system that takes the charging through 3 stages (Bulk, absorption & float). 3. Go for system that will stop the passage of current to ur battery when it is full. 4. Dont leave ur battery at a discharge state for a long time. Here are no-load typical voltages vs state of charge State of 12 Volt Volt Charge battery per Cell 100% 12.7 2.12 90% 12.5 2.08 80% 12.42 2.07 70% 12.32 2.05 60% 12.20 2.03 50% 12.06 2.01 40% 11.9 1.98 30% 11.75 1.96 20% 11.58 1.93 10% 11.31 1.89 0 10.5 1.75 A perfect alternative energy solution will always go with solar power as it ensures everyday charging. The only problem here is that imported solar panel are still expensive (N550-N800 per watt) and the good news is that you can buld it yourself at a very low cost. All panels I built 3 yrs ago are still performing at optimum level. If you dont mind spending big, go for imported panel: you will love it. |
