Blood-thirsty Mining Marshals Kill Pastor Colleague, As Family Allege Cover-up By Paul Onanuga The family of late DSC Agada Levi Agada, who is also a pastor with one of the new generation churches, has called on the the inspector-general of police, the national assembly, Human Rights Commission and other relevant authorities to investigate and bring to justice all those involved in the killing of late Agada, who was shooting and killed while on duty at Rafin Gabas, Agwada, Nasarawa State. In a petition signed by Nwabueze Obasi-Obi Esq. of Y.C Maikyau & Co Legal Practitioners on behalf of the family, and addressed to the inspector-general of police, the chairman, House of Representatives committee on public petition, Hon. Michael Etaba Irom, Human Rights Commission; against officers of the Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the mining marshals unit over the suspected criminal conspiracy, unlawful killing, and violation of the fundamental right to life of DSC Agada Levi Agada, the family called for a full-scale investigation into his untimely death. Part of the petition read that "We are solicitors to the family of DSC Agada Levi Agada (hereinafter referred to as "the deceased" , and it is upon their firm instructions that we present this petition against certain officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and members of its Mining Marshals Unit posted to Rafin Gabas, Agwada, Nasarawa State."The deceased, bearing service No. 44722, was, until his death, an officer of the Mining Marshals Unit of the NSCDC. He was a native of Onicha-Igo, Igalogba District, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, and was offered provisional appointment into the NSCDC on April 16, 2012. "Sometime around 19 February 2026, one Simeon Anyebe, an officer of the NSCDC, accompanied by another unidentified NSCDC officer, visited the residence of the Deceased in Kaduna State and met his wife. They informed her that the deceased had been involved in an accident and was at Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital, and stated that they wished to speak with one of the deceased's siblings. The deceased's wife accordingly provided the phone number of Mr. Matthew Agada, one of the deceased's elder brothers. When the officers attempted to speak with him by telephone in her presence, they claimed there was network interference and thereafter left the residence, promising to call him back. "Later on the same 19 February 2026, Mr. Anyebe reached Mr. Matthew Agada on his mobile phone and informed him that the Deceased had died on 18 February 2026 following an alleged attack by bandits at their place of work in Rafin Gabas, Agwada Village, Nasarawa State. He further stated that, on or about 17 February 2026, the deceased and five other unnamed NSCDC personnel were shot during the said attack, and that all five officers died at the scene while the deceased survived. He also stated that the deceased was initially taken to a village hospital in Agwada by about six officers, including one Femi Fatomona; however, when the hospital could not manage the emergency, he was conveyed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Keffi, Nasarawa State, under the lead of one Iwodi Obochi and in the company of about five NSCDC officers, where he died the following day, namely 18 February 2026. Mr. Simeon further stated that the five NSCDC officers who allegedly died on the spot were buried immediately in accordance with Islamic rites, and that ACC Attah John Onoja, the Commanding Mining Marshal, later joined the officers at FMC, Keffi, in a convoy of other officers. "Mr. Simeon further stated that, following the death of the deceased, Ibrahim Ayefu, an officer of the Mining Marshals, collected the corpse from the FMC and deposited it at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, on the same 18 February 2026. "The news of the deceased's death came as a rude shock to his siblings, who knew how diligently and professionally he had discharged his responsibilities. Nonetheless, on Friday, 20 February 2026, a delegation from the NSCDC, led by ACC Attah John Onoja (the Commanding Mining Marshal) and Simeon Anyebe, in the company of one of the Deceased's elder brothers, Mr. Paul Agada, paid a condolence visit to Mr. Matthew Agada at his residence in Abuja, where the NSCDC officials narrated the same account of how the deceased was allegedly killed by bandits and claimed to have tried to save him, but that he died the following day at FMC, Keffi. "On Monday, 23 February 2026, ACC Attah John Onoja (the Commanding Mining Marshal) requested to meet the wife and children of the deceased, who were in Kaduna. Mr. Paul Agada, an elder brother of the deceased, accompanied ACC Onoja, Simeon Anyebe, and other NSCDC officers to Kaduna for that visit. During the visit to Kaduna, Mr. Samuel Agada, the eldest brother of the deceased, requested ACC Onoja and Simeon Anyebe to explain the true circumstances that led to the Deceased's death. In response, ACC Onoja informed him that the deceased, while on duty, had gone to a location within their place of assignment which he was not authorised to visit. In an apparent attempt to support that assertion, ACC Onoja played a voice note from his phone which he claimed contained a prior warning to the deceased not to proceed to that location. ACC Onoja further stated that only the deceased died, while the other five NSCDC officers involved were arrested and detained. He thereafter promised that financial support would be provided to the family to assist with burial and related needs. "Ibrahim Ayefu, the officer who deposited the corpse at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, on 18 February 2026, was the same officer who signed out the corpse on 6 March 2026, accompanied by members of the family. Thereafter, the family members, led by Mr. Matthew Agada, went to the NSCDC Headquarters to brief the NSCDC on the burial arrangements of the Deceased, and ACC Onoja (the Commanding Mining Marshal) reassured the family members that the NSCDC would bear responsibility for the burial expenses. "The family proceeded with the burial arrangements of the Deceased on 7 March 2026. The officers and men of the NSCDC conducted a burial parade with an official band and roll call before the deceased was buried. The deceased is survived by his wife, two children, and twelve siblings. Copies of some of the photographs taken, obituary posters, and a flash drive containing recordings of the events are hereby attached and marked Annexures 4, 5, and 6 respectively. "Following the burial, the family received the sum of #3,000,000.00 (Three Million Naira) on 8 March 2026 from Simeon Anyebe, who claimed that he was instructed by ACC Attah John Onoja (the Mining Marshal of the NSCDC) to transfer the money to the bank account of the deceased's wife with UBA, stating that it was burial support from the company they worked for, as directed by the Mining Marshal, NSCDC. "The family also requested the release of the deceased's two mobile phones, which remain in custody of the Mining Marshals, but the officers refused. Despite repeated demands and ACC Onoja's undertaking to return the phones to the family, they have continued to withhold them without justification." Contradicting Accounts The petitioner further noted that the family became worried when they noticed contradicting accounts of the incident that led to the death of late Agada and hence, the need for the call for investigation. According to the him, "it is material to note that the accounts given by officers of the NSCDC to the family regarding the death of the deceased are contradictory in material particulars and raise grave questions as to the true circumstances surrounding his death. "In the initial phone conversation of 19 February 2026, Simeon Anyebe informed the family that bandits attacked the deceased and five other NSCDC officers, that all five others died and were buried immediately on account of their faith, and that the deceased survived until the following morning and died at the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi. However, during the visit to Kaduna on 23 February 2026, ACC Onoja informed the family that only the deceased died, while the other five officers were arrested and detained. "These accounts are irreconcilable with the information obtained from the Department of Surgery, FMC, Keffi, Nasarawa State, where Dr. Kuza Philemon informed members of the family on or about 25 March 2026, in the presence of a police officer, that the NSCDC officers who brought the Deceased on 17 February 2026 reported that the gunshot injury to his right chest resulted from an accidental discharge from the firearm of an NSCDC officer. The said firearm was also shown to the doctor before treatment commenced. Despite efforts to save the deceased, he died on 18 February 2026. However, the medical report issued by the FMC Keffi reveals, 19 February 2026 as the date the deceased died. "The materially inconsistent accounts supplied by NSCDC officers as to the events leading to the deceased's death, coupled with the information obtained from FMC, Keffi that the fatal gunshot was attributed to the accidental discharge of an NSCDC officer's firearm, strongly suggest a coordinated attempt to conceal the true circumstances of a suspected culpable homicide." The petitioner also noted that "Our clients are profoundly concerned by the conduct of the NSCDC, which, in the circumstances of this matter, falls short of the degree of transparency, responsibility, and institutional accountability expected of an employer and law enforcement agency. To date, our clients have received no official communication from the NSCDC explaining the circumstances of the deceased's death, nor are they aware of any internal or external investigation initiated by the NSCDC into the incident. "Additionally, the payment of N3,000,000.00 to the family through the bank account of the deceased's wife, ostensibly as burial support, appears prima facie to have been made as an inducement to suppress scrutiny and inquiry into what may amount to an unlawful killing. "We are aware of a medical report issued by the Department of Surgery, Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Keffi, Nasarawa State, being the hospital where the deceased died. The report was signed by Dr. Kuza Philemon, one of the medical practitioners who attended to the deceased when he was brought in by officers of the NSCDC, and who confirmed, as earlier stated, that the deceased died from a gunshot fired by one of the officers, albeit described as an accidental discharge. The determination of the precise circumstances leading to that fatal shooting is plainly a matter for investigation. "The facts disclosed above raise serious questions that demand a full-scale investigation." Also speaking, one of the brother of late Agada, Paul Levi Agada, in a court affidavit, confirmed that " ACC Onoja of NSCDC and commander of the mining marshal contacted Mrs Lilian Achenyo the wife of Late DSC Agada Levi of NSCDC Mining Marshal and also my elder brother Mr Matthew with phone number 08036791979 in February 2026" "He came to the house of My Late brother and promise to send money through Simeon Anyebe of NSCDC, to support the family during the burial and on 8th of march he sent the Sum of three Million Naira only (N3,000,000) to Mrs Lilian UBA bank account number 2037181976." Meanwhile our investigation has shown that the Nigeria Police Force, through the Force Intelligence Department after thorough investigation, invited ACC Attah John Onoja (Commander Mining Marshal); Superintendent Atabo (2i/c Mining Marshal); ASC 1 Jimoh Abdulrahman; ASC 2 Usman AKA Dogo; ASC 1 Ibrahim Ayefu; Sgt. Jibril Labaran; Simon Yakubu Anyebe; Insp. Habila AKA K9; Ojo Toluwatope Alex; ASC II Salisu Nda Mohammed; ASC II Yusuf Attahiru; Amos Yowu; Mustapна Монамmed and Jimoh Abdulrahman for interview to ascertain the role they played but they they failed to appear before the police. One of the suspects, Sgt. Jibril Labaran, NSCDC Minning Marshal had over N2 billion traced to his current account in Zenith Bank: 1008392780. A reliable source informed our reporter that the police has successfully arrested Simeon Yakubu Anyebe, Ibrahim Ayefu and ASC Iwodi Obochi of NSCDC mining marshal unit where they have made useful information as to what led to the killing of late Agada. The source also alleged that there are plans for the NSCDC to thwart the investigation by arresting and arraigning its staff thereby affecting the police investigations and stated that the Nigeria Police Force is determined to ensure that this case is not swept under the carpet and is calling on the commandant-general (Controller General) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi to release the remaining suspects for interviews on what led to the killing of late Agada.

Celebrating 30 years of Full Time Ministry. May 1996 to May 2026 Exactly 30 years ago, Bishop David Oyedepo ordained me into full time ministry. I did not start ministry from the ground. I started from a dug hole just to come to the ground surface. Do not attack my resurrection if you did not know my crucifixion. As a single brother, after my ordination in 1996, I was posted to the mission field in Ndjamena, Chad, to start. Armed robbers took everything, and I had to wash my mouth with salt for months. Apart from that, I wore pyjamas for a month and wore the oversized shoes of my senior pastor as his assistant, with tissue inserted to make up for my size. This I did for months too, yet we started ministry work immediately. I have seen the Word of God work raw. Revival broke out in Chad. Miracles happened on the streets. People spoke in tongues for days and weeks. Our French interpreter did not come one day, and the Spirit said, “I will help you.” Just like that, I began to teach the Word of God in French. The lame walked. Blind eyes opened. Souls got saved. From there, I came home, got married, and moved to Ijebu Ode, Abeokuta, and Ijebu Igbo, all as mission fields, with undeniable proofs and raw revival. Then, with my wife, we were posted to Bamako, Mali in 1999. It was a total spiritual dryness there. Within 90 days of my arrival, the power of God moved and a major revival broke out in the land. I began to hold crusades in Bamako, Mali. Souls came to Jesus, and a church of over 60 people began to run multiple services. From there, I moved to Sokoto as District Pastor. I preached all over Northern Nigeria. Sokoto, Kebbi, and Kano, to mention a few, not to talk of villages like Yauri and others. At every point, revival broke out. Souls were saved, and the church grew. It was so serious that my friends gave me a nickname: The Man with the Wilderness Anointing. All my life from age 24 has been ministry. Crusades, church planting. I started ministry from a hole, then to the scratch, then to the ground. I have seen the Word work wonders, raw. It has been 30 years of full time ministry, and 2 years before full time, making 32 years together. We are not following cunningly devised fables. From Sokoto, I moved to Ogbomoso, and the impact is still speaking till date. From Ogbomoso to Botswana, what had never happened in the history of Christianity in Botswana and Southern Africa took place in two years and two months. Heaven kissed the earth. It has been rugged crusades to save the lost, help the poor, build churches, and raise men and women to take their place in destiny as ordained by God. People who are ignorant of your crucifixion will always attack your resurrection. It has been 32 years of sacrificially serving God, His purpose, His Kingdom, His people, and humanity without any guile. Where I am today is the result of a long journey. The journey began 32 years ago as I served at Chapel of Faith, University of Jos, as Assistant Chaplain, where I met Dr. Paul and Becky Eneche as corps members too. Do not attack my resurrection because you never saw my crucifixion. I am a living witness of a man helped by God.

iLEAD AFRICA Launches Digital Accountability Platform Ahead of 2027 Elections By Ogar Paul As preparations intensify for the 2027 General Elections, iLEAD AFRICA has launched a citizen-driven digital accountability platform known as *iMonitor*, aimed at strengthening transparency, public service monitoring, and civic participation in governance. The platform was unveiled in Abuja at a stakeholders’ engagement that brought together representatives of government institutions, civil society organisations, development partners, media executives, and governance experts. Speaking at the event, Chief Executive of iLEAD AFRICA, Yusuff Abiodun Liadi, said *iMonitor* was designed as a civic infrastructure to bridge the gap between citizens and governance rather than just a digital application. He said the platform provides multiple engagement channels, including *iReport* for documenting community issues, *iMonitor* for tracking public projects and government spending, and an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot to guide users and provide civic information. “Democracy must not be reduced to periodic elections alone. True democratic governance requires sustained accountability between electoral cycles,” Liadi said. He also acknowledged the Nigeria Youth Future Fund for its support in developing the platform. Representatives of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies and the National Bureau of Statistics expressed support for digital civic tools, noting their potential to improve legislative oversight and enhance access to citizen-generated data for policy decisions. Director of the Nigeria Youth Future Fund, Dr. Onyeche Elizabeth Agbiti Douglas, who declared the event open, described *iMonitor* as a timely innovation for strengthening transparency and public accountability. She said the effectiveness of such platforms depends on credible and timely citizen-generated data, urging development partners and civil society organisations to support its nationwide expansion. Delivering a keynote address, National Adviser to Civil Society of Open Government Partnership (OGP) Nigeria, Mr. Uchinna Arisukwu, said government responsibility remains the security and welfare of citizens, stressing that active citizen engagement strengthens democratic institutions. He noted that accountability must span the entire budget cycle, from planning to implementation and oversight, and called for collaboration between *iMonitor* and other civic technology platforms to enhance transparency and data sharing. A live demonstration of the platform was conducted during the event, where a real-time project complaint was submitted to showcase its reporting functionality. A panel discussion focused on the role of technology in civic engagement ahead of the 2027 elections, with experts raising concerns around misinformation, data privacy, and digital exclusion while highlighting opportunities for youth mobilisation and democratic participation. Participants recommended wider accessibility, including local language integration, disability inclusion, and stronger voter education campaigns ahead of the elections. The launch of *iMonitor* is expected to expand citizen engagement in governance by enabling continuous public oversight beyond election periods.

Gospel Artist Jaga Blasts Ex-VP Over Stance on Prosperity Gospel By Ejike Paul Former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has come under criticism from gospel artist Testimony Jaga following his recent dismissal of the “prosperity gospel” doctrine. Osinbajo, a senior pastor, had earlier rejected the notion that wealth and physical well-being are guaranteed outcomes of faith, stating that such teachings do not form part of core Christian doctrine. He made the remarks during a live debate at Rock of Ages Christian Assembly International, where he responded to arguments raised by Pastor Korede Komaiya. Reacting in a widely circulated video, Testimony Jaga strongly criticised the former vice-president, insisting that the gospel message should address both spiritual and material needs. “There’s no such thing. There’s only a gospel, the gospel of Jesus Christ, sir,” he said. The singer questioned Osinbajo’s authority to speak on church doctrine, arguing that his political career undermined his credibility on spiritual matters. “With due respect, sir, I want to challenge you openly… show Nigerians what you did when you were vice president,” Jaga stated. He went further to criticise Osinbajo’s time in office under former President Muhammadu Buhari, alleging that the administration failed to address key national challenges. “When they asked you to resign as a good Christian, sir, did you resign?” he asked. Jaga also questioned the impact of Osinbajo’s leadership on ordinary Nigerians, particularly in areas such as poverty alleviation and social welfare. “Show us how many poor people that you have helped genuinely… show us one school that you built,” he added. The exchange has reignited debate within Nigeria’s Christian community over the interpretation of the gospel and the role of prosperity teachings, with observers noting the growing intersection between religion, politics and public accountability.

The project inception meeting brought together key stakeholders, including officials from the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Board, health partners, program coordinators, and technical teams, to align strategies and develop a coordinated implementation plan. Speaking at the Inception meeting yesterday, the Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Board, Dr. Rilwanu Muhammad, representing the Honourable Commissioner of Health, Dr. Sanni Mohammed Dambam, welcomed the project, emphasizing its importance in Bauchi State. According to him, FHI 360 through US government funding has already been supporting Bauchi State in HIV, malaria and maternal health. Rilwanu said additional support under epidemic control and MNCH, will help in strengthening the health system and improving health outcomes. Muhammad explained that the project will focus on 11 Mami LGAs and will run for one year in its current phase. According to him, planned activities in the project include training of healthcare workers, oxygen systems strengthening, provision of essential commodities, and enhanced support for maternal and child health services. He noted concerns about maternal and child mortality trends in some other LGAs and expressed optimism that the project would complement existing support from partners such as UNICEF and WHO, emphasizing the importance of coordination among partners. The Project Director of EpiC, Dr. Hadiza Khamofu, during her presentation, expressed profound gratitude to the United States government for funding the project. Hadiza revealed that the EpiC project, which is funded by the United State Government’s Department of State (DOS), is an eight-year global award running from 2019 to 2027. Chineyere Udoma Is Not A Gospel Singer ” — Jedidiah Sparks Firestorm in Explosive Interview In an industry where labels are worn like badges of honor, versatile gospel music artist Solomon Friday Macaulay known as Jedidiah is challenging one of the most sacred ones yet — and the name at the center of the storm is Chineyere Udoma. Sitting across from us in a quiet Lagos studio, Jedidiah doesn’t mince words. “People keep saying Chineyere Udoma is a gospel musician,” he says calmly, then pauses. “But that’s too small. And honestly? It’s not accurate.” That single sentence is already making waves. “We’ve Confused Category With Calling” Chineyere Udoma, widely celebrated for her soul-stirring vocals and spiritually charged songs, has long been embraced by the gospel community. But Jedidiah insists the public has boxed her into a category that doesn’t fully capture who she is — or what she represents. “Gospel music is a genre,” he explains. “But Chineyere operates on something deeper — spirituality, culture, healing, tradition, and human emotion. She ministers, yes. But she also interprets life.” According to Jedidiah, calling Udoma only a gospel musician reduces the scope of her influence and artistry. “If gospel is strictly church-friendly, then what do we do with the ancestral sounds? The raw emotion? The messages that speak to believers and non-believers alike? That’s not just gospel — that’s soul work.” A Statement That Divides the Industry Unsurprisingly, the comment has already split opinions. Some gospel purists argue that Udoma’s faith-centered message firmly places her within gospel music. Others, especially younger creatives, agree with Jedidiah — that she exists beyond genre and religious borders. “We are afraid of complexity in Africa,” Jedidiah adds. “The moment someone doesn’t fit neatly, we panic and force a label on them.” “This Is Bigger Than Chineyere Udoma” Jedidiah is clear that his statement isn’t an attack — but a provocation. “This conversation isn’t really about her,” he says. “It’s about how we limit artists, especially spiritual ones. Once you say ‘this is all you are,’ you stop them from evolving.” Rising gospel artist Jedidiah, who recently captured hearts with his hit single “All for You”, is set to release a highly anticipated remix of the track featuring the talented young Igbo rapper, Kach. The collaboration promises a fresh fusion of gospel melodies with contemporary indigenous rap, showcasing Jedidiah’s versatility as an artist. In addition to the remix, Jedidiah revealed that he is working on an upcoming EP, signaling an exciting period of growth and creativity in his musical journey. Fans can expect a collection of inspiring and soul-stirring tracks that further highlight his unique sound and commitment to gospel music. With these releases on the horizon, Jedidiah is quickly cementing his place as one of the most dynamic voices in the gospel music scene today.

How we are helping low-income Nigerians own homes without deposits — CHUJELUX A new savings-based property ownership model, TumoSave, has provided an opportunity for Nigerians in the real estate sector. This, specifically, the firm has bypassed the rigid deposit structure that has long kept low- and middle-income Nigerians out of the real estate market. The initiative, developed by CHUJELUX Properties and Enterprise, was created in response to what its founder described as the inaccessibility of conventional installment plans in the country’s housing sector. Speaking in an interview with newsmen in Abuja, the CEO, CHUJELUX Properties, Elekwachi Chukwudi, said: “My major inspiration was when I discovered that even after real estate companies offer payment by installments, the poor and middle class still cannot afford the initial deposit. “That is why I decided to invent a system where they don’t have to make an initial deposit. Just save as much as it is convenient for you. No targets, no pressure.” He said the scheme was also influenced by the reality of many Nigerian civil servants who spend decades in service but retire without owning a home. “A civil servant can spend half of his entire life working only to retire without a house. With TumoSave, that dream can be achieved sooner than expected.” Although the scheme started in Abuja, adoption has expanded beyond the Federal Capital Territory, with more users now located outside the capital. According to the founder, digital reach and formal documentation have helped build confidence among savers nationwide. “We actually have more TumoSavers outside Abuja than we do in Abuja. The internet doesn’t have boundaries, and when you present what people can trust, they will adopt it. TumoSave has the required security and documentation through Chujelux Properties, so it is easy for people who are not even in Abuja to entrust their money to the system.” Beyond property access, the scheme also enforces saving discipline by restricting cash withdrawals once contributions begin. “Someone even asked me, ‘Hope I won’t have access to the money? Because if I can withdraw the money, it means I can’t save. “Once your money enters TumoSave, the next thing you are expecting is a property, not cash again.” He added that contributions are protected in the event of death. “Your money can be given to your next of kin in the event of a demise,” he said. On affordability, CHUJELUX said it currently owns estates in areas including Guzape, Kuje, Kyami, Pyakasa, Delta, Imo, Enugu and Abia, Lagos, but only sells plots where documentation is fully completed. “As a company with integrity, we are not rolling those ones out for sale because the necessary documentation has not been completed,” the founder explained. He added: “We are only selling where buyers can move to site or resell immediately.” He further stated that the firm deliberately subsidises property prices to keep them within reach of low-income earners. “We are not aiming to just solve our financial problems through real estate but to solve that of the poor and middle class too. One way to solve the problem of the poor is to subsidise prices of goods and services, and this is exactly what we are doing.” Describing early operational challenges, the founder noted that funding and market dominance by larger developers posed major hurdles. “Without finance, it would be difficult to navigate through this process,” he said, adding that early support from angel investors and pioneer customers helped to stabilise the initiative. Looking ahead to 2026, the company plans to scale TumoSave beyond housing. “By 2026, we want to partner with other companies and integrate TumoSave into their systems,” he said. He revealed that a mobile application is also scheduled for launch in 2026 to improve accessibility and transparency, while a separate platform is being developed for Nigerians in the diaspora. “We have created a system that will benefit Nigerians abroad to own properties back home with Chujelux Properties. “They can tap into the current dollar-to-naira rate to buy lands that are safe and secure back home,” he added. Speaking further he said “JEC-LUXURY HOMES, Lugbe Abuja and CHAMPIONS GARDEN ESTATE, Idu Abuja are the locations currently selling.”

‘De Kronicles of Kris Talker’ Spreads Laughter and Healing in Maiduguri By Kingsley Oche In a city long familiar with the echoes of conflict, laughter returned as hundreds gathered for De Kronicles of Kris Talker (Laugh and Live) — a comedy show designed to heal through humor and community. The event featured some of Nigeria’s top comedy acts, including Mc Pashun, Loud Voice, Job Legend, and other “Comedy Gladiators” who kept the crowd roaring with laughter. But De Kronicles of Kris Talker 2.0 went beyond entertainment. Businessman Pleads with IGP Over Murder Allegations, Claims Land Speculator Blackmail Akogun Elijah Adeogun, a prominent businessman and dedicated member of Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), has made a desperate plea to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, seeking his intervention amid allegations linking him to a murder in Osuke community, Ota, Ogun State. Adeogun vehemently denies any involvement, asserting that he is a victim of malicious blackmail by land speculators. Adeogun, who recently joined the Living Faith Church's Land Committee, claims his troubles began after this appointment. He alleges that those implicating him in the unrest and the death of Obasanjo Jinadu Saheed are disgruntled individuals unhappy with his role in the committee. "I am appealing to IGP Egbetokun to come to my rescue. I am innocent of this murder allegation. Land speculators are maligning, blackmailing, and using the police to arrest me," Adeogun stated during a press conference in Abuja. He emphasized that he was not present in Osuke community during the incident and has no connection to the crime. "This issue started about three weeks ago after I was selected by the Living Faith Tabernacle church aka Winners Chapel Ota as a member of the church’s Land Committee. I am not from Osuke community. I am from Ilasa community. I have been to Osuke only once in my life. I don’t have land in Osuke community and I am not the Winners Chapel that owns land in the area," he explained. Adeogun recounted a recent meeting of the Land Committee where it was resolved that members should steer clear of church lands due to ongoing encroachment despite a court injunction. "We were having a meeting of the committee where it was resolved that everyone should steer clear of all the lands belonging to the church at least for now because despite having a subsisting court injunction which was gotten on the lands, the land speculators still continued to dredge the land for commercial purposes. So, it was resolved that we should write a petition to that effect." He further detailed his interactions with the police, stating, "We were at the Police command at Elewaran Ogun state last week for the petition we wrote on the case while one Ibrahim Ibuoye also wrote his own petition. It was at the DCP’s office we resolved through an undertaking that all parties should maintain status quo on the land as the court ruled. Is Winners land a plot of land or half plot of land that I can encroach with the aim of selling? So, how will I go there to cause trouble?” Adeogun expressed shock and dismay at the allegations, particularly after he was able to prove his alibi. "I was in court on Monday February 24th when the blackmail started…When I returned from court in the evening, I got another call from Zone 2 police command Onikan Lagos…After I returned from the Magistrates’ court in Ota , I found out about the news report linking me to the unrest and killing of one Obasanjo Jinadu Saheed at Osuke community. I was shocked as I was not anywhere near Osuke community that fateful day. The matter was reported at the Elewaran police Headquarters in Ogun state and the police went to the court to investigate and they found out that I was indeed in the court when the unrest and killing took place in Osuke community." He believes the accusations are a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation. "I am very sad that due to my membership as a land committer member of my church, some land speculators are out to destroy my name and link me to a terrible crime like murder. I have learnt that they have petitioned the Assistant Inspect General of Police AIG Zone 2 Onikan Lagos to arrest me. This is all in a bid to continue to soil my reputation. I will not hesitate to report these persons to the police authority over this blackmail and linking me to murder." Adeogun concluded his plea by urging the IGP for a thorough investigation. "I am therefore appealing to the IGP Egbetokun to save me from these desperate land speculators as I call for a thorough investigation into this matter because I am innocent."

Iro Community Calls Ogun CP's Intervention Over Indiscriminate Road Blockage To 200 Businesses By Ugwu Joe Community members of Iro Town in the Owode Obafemi Local Government Area of Ogun State has lamented the blockage of a key economic road to over 200 Sand excavation sites, Farmlands, Companies, Villages, Fishing places and Houses of hapless indigenes of Iro. In a peaceful protest by the affected people covered by DAILY INDEPENDENT on Wednesday, the people complained bitterly over what they claimed to be a great injustice against the peace loving people of Odo-Yepe area of Iro Town. According to Chief Mohammed Aro, Chairman of Awodi Oke Community which is part of the affected community alleged that, "Alhaji Tajudeen Abioye, bought 200 plots of land from Shittu Toriola at the entrance point into our Community and he decided to fence the land leading into the community, though we heard from the grapevine he is trying to do that, but we warned him against it yet he did not heed to us but erected the fence. "The most annoying was his approach to making the fence which was carried out in the night which he partially succeeded in doing until we were suddenly notified at about 1am on Tuesday 17, December by Vigilante officials patrolling the community about the fence being built to block us from having access to our places, before our wives rose up from bed to confront them and destroyed part of the fence erected on the road." Aro added. Corroborating the allegation, Hon. Bililiaminu Mojeed, a resident of Mapa, one of the affected Villages, said, "I was born here but left for career reasons afterwards returned since 1986 and this is the road we've being using to and fro, aside my village there are farm settlements, Companies and other businesses as proceed from here." Mrs Mary Imasuen said she bought 2 plots in 2021 from the family of Aliu Olusunmade a.k.a Baba Gazette, the land owners and was given a family receipt and other documents, saying "since buying the land I used it for displaying and selling items with plans to build a befitting structure anytime soon, but it's part of the land sold to Alhaji Tajudeen and now fenced." Kubiratu Wahab, one of the women who accosted the fence builders narrated how they stopped the fence builders at night, "we were woken by the alert of Vigilante officials who informed us of a fence being built nocturnally by a group of people on the road leading to their Community and would want to hear from them why the road is being built. Myself and other 20 women rushed to the scene and we had to push down part of the fence blocking the road into our community." The community is a plea during the peaceful protest called on the Local Government Chairman of Owode Obafemi, the newly appointed Ogun State Police Commissioner and Governor Dapo Abiodun to please come to their aid and to rescue them from Alhaji Tajudeen Abioye and stop him blocking the access to their livelihoods. In response to these allegations, Alhaji Tajudeen Abioye said, "the community were unfortunately misrepresenting the facts and distorting the truth, stressing that the 15 plots of land in question was legally acquired after several years of showing interest to buy it but was denied till recently. And I got all the necessary papers in respect to it. "The so called road was never the statutory road, there are two other ones, until it was paved by the contracting firm handling the Papa to Shagamu Interchange Highway some few months back, paving the shift from the original road to the sites and other places in the area, moreover the temporary road is part of the land contained in the survey design sold to me. "As a dredger, anytime I buy a dredging site, I'll fence it, building infrastructures for workers, security personnel, dredging equipments and other administrative offices. "To ensure that peace reign between me and these community members I have decided to help them construct one of the alternate road, including the construction of a Culvert to make it motorable, moreso the allegation that there are over 200 businesses and settlements in the area is also not correct" Alhaji Tajudeen said.

NURTW: Baruwa Loyalists Insist Oluomo's Imposition Contravenes Court Ruling, A Slap On Judiciary Comrade Abideen Ejiogbe, the Oyo State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, has condemned in strong terms, the recent statement credited to so-called Southwest Council Chairmen of the Union, stressing that these people were neither elected or inaugurated into these offices, but are shamelessly defending the undue and unwarranted interference in the affairs of NURTW by Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff. The condemnation was made In a Press release, dated, January 10, captioned; 'A Call For Justice - Re: Brazen Disregard For The Rule Of Law', which was made available to DAILY INDEPENDENT, where Comrade Ejiogbe condemned the statement of the Southwest Chairmen quoted in an online publication linked to "The Nation Newspaper" 'captioned: "South-West NURTW chairmen slam Baruwa' in a veiled attempt to support Musiliu Akinsanya, MC Oluomo, the imposed National Chairman of the Union. The Press release reads; "We wish to condemn in very strong terms, the recent actions of the so-called southwest council chairmen, who have shamelessly defended the undue and unwarranted interference in the affairs of NURTW by Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff. "It is most unfortunate and didgusting to note that some ill informef persons parading as southwest chairmen are trying to justify the flagrant disregard for the rule of law and the constitution of our union. The actions of these illegitimate so called southwest chairmen are a clear indication of their loyalty to personal interests rather than the well-being of our members. "Their uterances in the online publication has gone further to confirm our suspicion/claims that the chief of staff has a hand in the blatant disregard to the rule of law by MC Oluomo; or how else can one explain the fact that it is the illegitmate so called southwest chairmen that are now the mouthpiece of the chief of staff. We must not fail to remind these lawless apologists that they are committing contempt of court. "The NURTW national leadership has consistently maintained that the imposition of MC Oluomo as the union's leader is illegal and unconstitutional. We have taken our grievances to the courts, and the judiciary has ruled in our favor. "Despite this, Femi Gbajabiamila has continued to support and sponsor MC Oluomo's illegitimate claim to leadership. This is a clear case of undue interference and an attempt to undermine the democratic processes of our union. "We call on the general public to reject this brazen attempt to hijack our union, while urging our members to remain calm and focused, as we continue to fight for justice and democracy within our union. On a final note, we hereby request the chief of staff to kindly leave our union alone in the interest of peace, law and order."

Anambra Cleric, Daddy Hezekiah To Pay Polaris Bank Mgr, Duru N10m For Human Rights Abuse By Ugwu Chidi Following the violation of Fundamental Human Rights, a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered popular Anambra Cleric and founder of Living Christ Mission, Rev Onokogu Hezekiah, (a.k.a Daddy Hezekiah) to pay Polaris Bank Manger, Dr Hezekiah Duru the sum of N10 million. The cleric, Daddy Hezekiah, had written a petition against the Applicant, Dr Duru on an alleged financial misappropriation and breach of trust, which resulted in his arrest and detention under police custody. However, Justice D. Okorowo faulted the action of Daddy Hezekiah and the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector General of Police and A.C.P. Asuquo (Officer in Charge of S.I.U of the I.G.P Office), through which the arrest and detention was carried out. Justice Okorowo, in his ruling, held that the action of the Respondents was a denial of the fundamental human right of the applicant, because the allegation was already being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. In the suit: FHC/ABJ/CS/3/2024, Justice D. Okorowo also faulted the warrant order obtained from the Nasarawa State Magistrate Court. The Court judgment by Justice Okorowo in favour of the Applicant, Dr Duru, holds as follows: (1) A declaration is made that the arrest, detention and purported investigation of the Applicant from the 11th day of December 2023 till 29th day of December 2023 by the Respondents on the petition of the 1st Respondent on an allegation of financial misappropriation/embezzlement/cheating/breach of trust already being investigated is an infringement of the Applicant's right to personal liberty, fair hearing, right to dignity of his person as enshrined in the Constitution of Nigeria 1999 and African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights. (2) A declaration is made that the order/warrant for the detention of the Applicant obtained by the Respondents from the Nasarawa State Magistrate Courts is unlawful, abuse of powers, abuse of judicial process and an infringement of the Applicant's right to fair hearing, and personal liberty. (3) An Order is made directing the release of the Applicant, Amb. Dr. Hezekiah Chinenye Duru forthwith from Police custody. (4) An Order of injunction is made restraining the Nigerian police and it’s officers from arresting, detaining or further violating or doing anything capable of undermining, threatening or interfering on the fundamental rights of the Applicant, His Excellency Amb. Dr. Hezekiah Chinenye Duru. (5) An award of 10 Million Naira Damages jointly and severally against Rev Onukogu and the Nigerian police, the Inspector General of the Nigerian Police and ACP Asuqou (the officer in Charge of the Special Investigation Unit of the IGP office).
