Nairaland / General / Ongoing Protest: Group Seek Ngige Removal As Minister by ezzy123: 1:34pm On Aug 24, 2017
The poor performance of Sen.Chris Ngige, The minister of Labour and A call for his removal.

It is so unfortunate that the Minister Of Labour, Sen.Chris Ngige has lost focus in his office and all he does at this critical time is to interfere in Anambra election instead of negotiating with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and do everything possible to make sure the union is back to work.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had on Monday declared an indefinite strike over Federal Government failure to keep to the 2009 agreement.“If Ngige is a super leader, he should endeavour to address the protracted ASUU strike and bring an end to it by having proper negotiation with the union in the absence of the president.
If Ngige is a super leader, he should endeavour to address the lingering Labour problems in the country which even degenerated to the killing of a civil servant in Kogi and other states.
Sen. Chris Ngige is more interested in godfatherism in his state, Anambra state than his office as the Labour and Employment Minister.
Pensioners, under the Nigeria Union of Pensioners ( NUP) has criticized the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, accusing him of high level nepotism in the discharge of his duties.

Specifically, the NUP declared that Ngige was using his position to circumvent the trade union and pension laws to favour his kinsmen.

Briefing the Press at the Labour House, Abuja, the Chairman, Electricity Sector branch of the NUP, Mr Abel Olas Eikhor, accused the Minister of directing the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorates (PTAD) to circumvent the law and pay union dues into the account of an individual who is not a member of the Union.
The Union stated that rather than address the issues of a petition written against a former Chairman, Temple Ubani, the Minister who should be conversant with the provisions of the law asked PTAD to pay check off dues deducted from the Union members to Ubani even when Ubani was no longer a member of the union, having formed his own association.
He pointed out that in total disregard to the provisions of the Trade Union Act, the Minister has directed the PTAD to remit union dues of members of the Union to the accounts of Chief Ubani.
The Minister of Labour and employment is so confuse that he has no sense of direction. instead of the minister to declare an emergency on the issue of skill. Nigeria is a largely incompetent or skill deficient nation, specialized or basic. Assuming that there is a recognized index for skills and competency in the world, Nigeria will easily find itself in the bottom 10 in the world. The mMinister is busy interfering in Anambra election and his interest of being a godfather.
In my own opinion, I will suggest the Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen.Chris Ngige be relieved of his office because of his poor performance.

Nairaland / General / Threat Allegations On Tony Nwoye, Andy Uba. by ezzy123: 9:48pm On Aug 23, 2017
Ngige Responds To Threat Allegations On Tony Nwoye, Andy Uba.
-I have no issue with Uba, Nwoye, They are all allegations…
-All aspirants are my children…
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige has dissociated himself from allegations making the rounds in the social media that he petitioned security agencies over an alleged threat to his life by Sen. Andy Uba and Dr. Tony Nwoye.
“This is false and fertile imagination of mischief makers who are intimidated by the rising profile and tempo of activities in the Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress,” Ngige said in a statement by his Media Adviser, Nwachukwu Obidiwe.
“I wish to state in clear terms that I neither have issues with the afore mentioned persons who are no doubt my children as the leader of the APC in Anambra State nor have any reason to petition security agencies. As we inch closer to the governorship primary of our party, it is not surprising that opponents, detractors and mischief makers who are obviously intimidated by the strength of the APC will stop at nothing to create even if an imaginary division among us.”
“I similarly wish to state that it is a huge insult to insinuate or even imagine that I am guided by pecuniary interests in positioning our party for victory in the coming governorship election. I aver therefore without avoidance of doubt that no aspirant advanced any money to me, or will ever whisper such to my ear. At my level and pedigree, it is preposterous to allege that I will ever be disposed to such.
“My role and major interest as the father of the party in the state are very clear; to ensure that level playing ground is enabled for the best among the aspirants to emerge and subsequently win the governorship election.
The Minister finally urged all the party members, Ndi Anambra and the general public to disregard these baseless rumours and gossips.

Nairaland / General / Hidden Fact Revealed About Anambra Apc Primary Election by ezzy123: 9:29pm On Aug 20, 2017
APC primaries: Shun Sentiments And Empty Propaganda
Senator Andy Uba has called on delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) not to be unduly influenced by sentiments in determining the party’s flag bearer in the November governorship election.
In his message to the delegates, the governorship aspirant admonishes the delegates to consider experience and capability in making their choice rather than zoning, party membership or denomination.
He said that it was just not enough to believe the promises made by all aspirants but to also weigh such promises according to known individual capabilities.
He said that the members should not be swayed by certain viewpoints that bordered on membership of the party and who had been in Anambra APC longer.
He said however that the focus should be on who can actualize victory for the party and deliver on promises made.
“As member delegates of the APC in Anambra State get ready to elect a flag bearer for the November 18 polls come this Saturday, it is largely instrumental for the party and the delegates to view each of us vying for the ticket not from the vistas of zoning, denomination or their religious professions nor the weak viewpoints of party membership but from the collage of experience, core message and the takeaway of trust in their campaigns.
Again, it should not just end in having a message, what’s the core of the message? Is it just to change APGA? Remove Obiano from office? Give the APC a relative foothold in the South East as a step towards actualizing the Igbo President project?
No the delegates should ask salient questions as to whether such candidate has the pedigree to actualize such a message.
The delegates must ask whether these aspirants possess the experience to actualize these ideas of theirs.
Experience in governance is critical to the success of any politician or administrator, this is due to the fact that governance is not a tea party nor is it a matter to handle with kid gloves more so a state like Anambra.
Experience enables a politician to maneuver through issues and booby-traps laid in the process of giving the people that which is their due,” he said.
Furthermore, stressed that going by experience and capabilities, having served as an SA to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and also been the state governor for 17 days, he was the best candidate going to the poll.
Andy further enjoined the party to emulate Benue, Sokoto and Ondo state where the party gave the ticked to the most experienced aspirant which in turn translated to victories for the party.
Nairaland / General / Political Decadence And The Task Facing Apc Delegates by ezzy123: 7:17pm On Aug 19, 2017
In no distant time the journey for the race for the seat of Governor in Anambra will take a new dimension with the primaries of most political parties slated for this week, including that of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Many have been wondering who will get the APC ticket, while some have been scrambling, looking for one thing or the other to tarnish the good image of a humble, ever ready and promising senator, dishing out all sort of lies all in the name of politics.
When we talk about someone that can win this gubernatorial election, not even the primary, we talk about distinguished Senator Andy Uba, a man who is loved by many. On August 26th everything shall be made crystal clear with an imminent emergence of candidate and flag bearer for the APC.
It is important to note that this not a journey of political landlords or tenants, it is a game of experience, adequate leadership foxiness and being of intellectual tactics. When we talk about someone who can unseat an incumbent governor we talk about Sen Andy Uba, I think if we truly want to make this correction viable we just need to apply this simple principle so that Anambrarians will perceive the breath of fresh air that we have been looking for.
I challenge and also urge the APC delegate to make the appropriate choice that will not hunt them moving forward. Your vote for Sen Andy Uba is a vote for the masses, your vote for Sen Andy Uba is a vote for the future of our dear state, if we truly want to grow in the Area of Infrastructure, Quality Education for our children, Sustainable Environment for the youth, Rural Development, Youth Empowerment, Security Alertness, Agriculture and other good things that the state really need to grow we need to vote Sen Andy Uba because he has what it takes to meet up with the demands and the wants of his people.
APC Delegate let's not make any mistake that could in one way or the other affect the citizens of this state, if we fail to vote for the right candidate, we have failed the entire state. So for a responsive cordial relationship and adequate coexistence between every member of the party let's support the distinguished senator so that the dream he has in his heart for Ndi Anambra will be unveiled for the entire citizens and everyone will be a part of the government. We are only seeking for a place that will be more conducive for us and that place will come to reality once Sen Andy Uba is given the party ticket.

An aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) , Senator Andy Uba has decried the lack of sufficient infrastructure and the deplorable condition of roads in Oromaetiti and other parts of Anambra West Local Government Area of the state.
Uba who toured the seven local government areas of the Anambra North Senatorial zone promised to transform Anambra State to a land where everything good will excel and also to turn around the fortunes of the party in if elected governor.
The tour which kicked off at Anambra West Local Government Area, saw Uba meeting with supporters from the seven local governments that make up the north senatorial district of the state, namely Anambra West, Anambra East, Oyi, Ayamelum ,Onitsha North, Onitsha South and Ogbaru.
He said he decided to reach out to the grassroots in order to convince them on the need to put forward their best material as the date for the APC primaries draws near.
He said, he did not intend to leave any stone unturned, thus he was ready to travel the entire state to appraise the prevailing situations in the areas which will form the core of his manifesto.
He said he will turn the Anam area of Anambra West, which is an agrarian community into an agricultural city, integrating numerous value chains into the agricultural potentials of the area. This he said would harness the agricultural abundance by building collectives with modern day facilities which will be community run employing at least 2000 youths per community who will be paid by the state government.
He urged party delegates to be peaceful and ignore negative reports spun about his person by certain candidates, describing them as being jittery of his chances.http://senatetoday..com.ng/2017/08/vision-to-restore-state-to-its-former.html

Nairaland / General / Traditional Ruler Blames Low Collection On Insecurity- by ezzy123: 8:03pm On Aug 15, 2017
Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad, Chairman, Zamfara State Council of Chiefs has attributed low turnout of electorate to collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and participate in Continuous Voters Registration in the state to insecurity.

Attahiru, who is the Emir of Anka, stated this at his palace, Anka, on Tuesday when he received in audience the state committee on mobilisation and awareness creation on the collection of PVCs.

The 14-man committee was led by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Sanusi Rikiji.

The emir noted that insecurity situation faced by the state had resulted to underdevelopment in various sectors, including PVC registration.

“You know you cannot do anything without peace, that is why in some sectors we are lagging behind, unlike before.

“We are thanking the almighty Allah that, with the efforts of government and security agencies, the issue of insecurity is almost over in this state.

“We are now recording improvement in our activities, I am using this opportunity to call on stakeholders to cooperate with government to ensure effective peace and stability in the state,’’ he urged.

He commended the state government for setting up the committee and assured that the emirate would mobilise people who had not collected their PVCs to do so.

According to him, the traditional leaders have greater role to play in enlightening and mobilising the public, because they are closer to the people.

He, however, urged government at all levels to always involve traditional rulers in any activities in their area.

Earlier, Rikiji said,”We are here, today, to inaugurate the committee for this exercise in Anka Local Government Area and Anka Emirate Council.

He also said the emir would lead the Anka Local Government Committee while the ward committees would be headed by the Districts Heads in their respective areas.

“Based on the record given by INEC, we are among the states with the least collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and poor in participation in the continuous voter registration in the country.

“It is worrisome that we have 60,000 unclaimed PVCs with INEC, belonging to the people of the state.

‘’In fact, from April to July, only 22 people collected their PVCs across the 14 local government areas of the state.

“That is why we involve you, the traditional rulers, considering the great role you can play in this exercise,” he said.

The committee also inaugurated the local government and emirate committees in Bukkuyum, Gummi, Bakura, Maradun and Maru Local Government Areas of the state.

BATTLE FOR ANAMBRA GOVERNORSHIP
August 15, 2017
Live Updates...

Distinguished Senator Andy Uba Arrives Anam, Anambra East Local Government for ward to ward meet with the APC delegates of Anambra East Local Government.

Hon Ralph Okeke addressed the gathering. As he reminds the delegates that he was once in the race, but having looked at the capacity of the people vying for the seat of governorship under the party's platform, he found out that there is only but one person capable enough to boot out the incumbent.

His words:

"After I declared interest to contest, I went to Abuja to get my form, on getting there I found out that everything about the party has turned into Andy Uba color (ebe niile na achazi Andy Andy). I found out that it will be a waste of time and resource to contest against someone who has such might and connection. He also stated that the party deserves more than mere personal interest which he believes the other aspirants are there for.

He also pleaded with the Distinguished Senator to always remember the zone when he assumes seat as the governor, because he knows he will definitely scale through in the primaries this Saturday.

The distinguished Senator while addressing the gathering in his words says: "I will still stand to the promise i made when I came here in 2006 for my governorship campaign, I promised I will make here an Agricultural village and make these roads accessible. This state needs someone who has the reach and federal might to get this state back to its glory days. I play politics of partnership, where I carry everyone along to ensure that the dividends of democracy gets to every nook and cranny of the state.
