Atiku just left Customs as Deputy Comptroller General of Customs because IBB refused to appoint him as Comptroller General. He was an extremely wealthy man who made so much money corruptly from the system.


Shehu Yar’adua was the most popular politician in SDP at the time. Sadly, he was among the old politicians banned by IBB from contesting. Sadly, SDP governors kicked against his nomination as they preferred Babagana Kingibe. IBB also wanted to impose Pascal Bafyau as MKO’s running mate but the SDP governor’s had their way.

GEJ is not Igbo, he was only sympathetic to Igbos because he kind of have some Igbo bloodline and he saw the deep marginalization against Igbos which he tried to address gradually in order not to anger the North and Yorubas who enjoy seeing Igbos being marginalized as he hoped to do more for Igbos after his reelection but unfortunately he lost.

Even at that, Yorubas cry everyday that Igbos occupied every key positions under GEJ regime and when you ask them to list the key positions Southeast Igbos occupied, they go numb.


So to answer your question, GEJ wanted to address the Igbo marginalization, he started it gradually in his first tenure so that he won't anger North and Yorubas and lose reelection, and he hoped to finally address it in full after his reelection as he focused on North to please them so they can help him win reelection but as ungrateful people they were, they still revolted against him cos they saw him as an Igbo man just as Yorubas even saw him and claimed he gave all key positions to Igbos which remains a big fallacy cos if you list top 10 key positions under GEJ regime, Igbos didn't occupy up to 4 at a stretch yet Yorubas felt so disgusted about it and ganged up with North to remove GEJ

All the public decamping of some politicians is to remove opposition to rigging. What they're planning is replicate what they did in Rivers, so a strong alliance in a strong party with serious monitoring is essential.

Rigging in the south is easier, especially by politicians.

I believe that Obi polled more than 9 million votes in 2023 but was short-changed due to a weak platform. Atiku is not very adept but with Obi in the team, his weaknesses would be covered.

A four-year Atiku presidency deal would meet every aspiration of all parties - and give the people a new lease of life. Don't say it's the turn of the south because Tinubu does not believe in the south. He showed it in 2015 by opposing Jonathan and shows it today by running a Yoruba government.


To the coalition, we are waiting... Make it Atiku Obi, even though we know that on a normal day, Obi would win any free and fair election, we must not leave 2027 to chance.
