Technology Market › How To Size A Solar System For Your Home In Ibadan by Factism(op): 8:54am On Oct 12
If your power distribution company has been doing "manage" with light this week, solar has probably crossed your mind. And everybody selling solar wants to hand you a package, 5kVA here, 10kVA there. Ask one simple question: how many watt-hours does my home actually use in a day? Watch how the conversation changes.

The honest way to size solar is from your loads, not from a bundle somebody already packaged. Let me break it down the way we'd talk over akara. Plain talk, no big grammar.

Step 1: List what you actually run, and for how long.

• 10 LED bulbs (5W each), 5 hours: 250Wh
• TV + decoder (60W), 4 hours: 240Wh
• 2 standing fans (70W each), 6 hours: 840Wh
• Small fridge (150W; the compressor rests in between), about 8 hours of real running: 1,200Wh

Total: about 2.5kWh per day. That number, not "5.5kVA", is the true size of your home. On a prepaid meter it's roughly 75 units a month.

Step 2: Battery, where most of the money goes.

• Lithium (LiFePO4): you can use about 80% of what you buy, so this example needs about a 3.2kWh bank
• Gel or deep-cycle lead: drain past roughly half regularly and you are quietly shortening its life, so the same example needs about 5kWh

Lithium also gives 2,000 to 5,000 charge cycles where gel manages 500 to 1,000. One lithium bank can outlast four or more gel replacements. The upfront price is not the whole story.

Step 3: Panels. This part of the country averages about 4 to 5 peak sun hours a day, and real-world losses (heat, wiring, dust) shave roughly another quarter off. Rule of thumb: divide your daily watt-hours by about 3 to 3.4.

2,530Wh ÷ 3.4 ≈ 750W of panel. Call it 800W to 1kW once you allow for harmattan haze and cloudy weeks.

Step 4: Inverter. Everything above running at the same time draws about 400W. The catch is the fridge. Its compressor asks for several times its normal power for the split second it starts. A 1.5kVA unit carries this example with breathing room.

That's the whole maths. Next time a quote lands on your table, ask for three numbers: the daily watt-hours the design assumes, the usable battery kWh (not the nameplate), and the panel watts. If the seller cannot answer from your own loads, walk gently.

At Revogreen Energy Hub, we size from your actual usage, not a guess. The WhatsApp number is on the attached image.

Adverts › Stop Buying Cheap Wire - Real Copper, Properly Sized by Factism(op): 9:26pm On Oct 07
A lot of the wiring problems you see in Nigerian homes don't come from the power distribution company alone - they come from wire that was never the size it claimed to be. Tinned aluminium sold as copper, 1.5mm that is actually 1mm. Within a few months you are chasing loose sockets, heat at the meter and trips you can't explain.

Genuine single-core copper wire, 450/750V PVC insulation, fresh rolls:

• 1.5mm² - ₦34,500 per 100-metre roll. The size for lighting circuits in most flats.
• 2.5mm² - ₦56,500 per 100-metre roll. The honest size for sockets, AC points and general house wiring.

Number is in the picture. We deliver within Ibadan and answer same day. Prices are this week's.

Technology Market › Solar Panel Maintenance Checklist For Nigerian Homes by Factism(op):
How many times has your power distribution company disrupted your family time this week?

Across Nigeria, the average household spends 168 hours (7 full days) per month without grid power. That's why solar isn't a luxury — it's reliability.

From hundreds of installations across Ibadan, here are the key maintenance points we always share with our customers:

• Dust cleaning schedule — Harmattan dust reduces panel output by 15-20%. Clean monthly or install a tilt system that lets rain wash most of it off naturally

• Battery care — Lead-acid batteries lose 30% lifespan if not in a ventilated, shaded area. We recommend our hybrid inverter setups that maintain optimal charging even during cloudy days

• Wiring inspection — Loose connections cause 60% of solar system failures we see. Always use proper MC4 connectors and tinned copper cables (4mm² for main runs) — cheap alternatives corrode within 2 years in our climate

• Angle optimization — Panels installed flat lose 30% efficiency to dust accumulation. Even a 10° tilt makes a massive difference for self-cleaning during rains

At Revogreen Energy Hub, we don't just install — we use quality components that last. Our standard package includes Canadian solar panels, BYD lithium batteries, and SMA inverters, all backed by 5 years warranty.

For professional installation and maintenance across Ibadan, our experienced team is available.

Feel free to message us on WhatsApp — number is on the attached image.
