The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, has said that the Federal Government will not abandon borrowing despite a sharp increase in its revenue performance in recent months.

Speaking to State House correspondents at the Aso Villa during the Presidential Communications Team’s “Meet-the-Press” series on Tuesday, Adedeji argued that borrowing remains an integral part of Nigeria’s economic framework and is not a weakness but a strategic tool for growth.

Nairaland GeneralSenate Moves To Resolve Natasha Akpoti-uduaghan Suspension Crisis by Fairway7(op): 11:05am On Sep 23, 2025
Strong indications emerged on Tuesday that the standoff between embattled Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) and Senate President Godswill Akpabio may finally be nearing resolution.

The office of the suspended lawmaker, Room 205 in the Senate wing, was unsealed by the Sergeant-at-Arms of the National Assembly with support from security agencies, granting her access to both her office and the National Assembly premises.

This move raises the possibility of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan resuming her legislative duties after months of suspension. Sources revealed that the decision followed a leadership meeting of the Senate, where it was agreed that a motion may soon be moved for her to tender an apology before full reinstatement.

CrimeEXCLUSIVE: $2 Million Digital Nightmare – Nigerian Mastermind Faces 20 Years In by Fairway7(op): 12:25pm On Sep 22, 2025

September 22, 2025 | Lagos/Washington D.C.

In a case that exposes the dark underbelly of international cybercrime, a UK-based Nigerian national is now facing the harsh reality of American justice after allegedly orchestrating one of the most sophisticated sextortion schemes ever prosecuted by federal authorities.

Olamide Shanu, a 34-year-old Lagos State indigene who had been living comfortably in the United Kingdom, was dramatically extradited to the United States this week and now sits in an American detention facility, staring at the possibility of spending the next two decades of his life behind bars.

The Extradition and Arraignment Drama
The courtroom was tense on Wednesday as Shanu, dressed in standard detention facility attire, stood before a US Magistrate Court following his extradition from the UK. The journey from his life in Britain to an American courtroom represents a stunning fall from grace for a man who federal prosecutors say lived lavishly off the suffering of countless victims.

PoliticsRivers State Political Crisis: The Complete Story Behind Fubara’s Delayed Return by Fairway7(op): 2:52am On Sep 22, 2025
In what has become another chapter in Rivers State’s ongoing political drama, thousands of supporters who gathered at Government House Port Harcourt on Thursday to welcome back Governor Siminalayi Fubara were left disappointed when he failed to appear for his scheduled resumption of duties.

The absence marks yet another twist in one of Nigeria’s most complex political crises, leaving questions about the state’s future governance and the effectiveness of federal intervention in resolving deep-seated political conflicts.

THE EMERGENCY RULE BACKGROUND
Origins of the Crisis
The Rivers State political crisis began as a power struggle between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now serving as Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister. What started as a dispute between former political allies escalated into a full-blown constitutional crisis that threatened the stability of one of Nigeria’s most economically important states.

The conflict centered on control of state structures and resources, with both camps claiming legitimacy. The dispute split the Rivers State House of Assembly into factions, with Speaker Martin Amaewhule leading the pro-Wike faction that initiated impeachment proceedings against Fubara.
