The tales of Rita

INTRO



Gentle morning breeze passed harshly through the hostel corridors, its majestic presence violently disturbing with each movement, its stroke could be felt in the atmosphere accompined by its coldness, and an unusual ray of harmattan dryness. An uproar of ladies chattering from different direction filled the atmosphere.

Rita, hurriedly wearing her shoes, heard a familiar voice beconing on her to hurry up. She recognized the voice to be Becca: 'an occupant of the same hostel who was in her department.'

Infuriated by Rita's unbecoming lateness and obvious sluggishness, Becca angrily left Rita's room headed towards her predictably late class. Noticing her angrlly leaving in hurried paces, Rita hurridly picked up her bag and ran after her.

Hours later, after series of stressful, hectic and boring lectures, a thirsty and tired Rita accompined by two of her course mates exhaustably walked towards her hostel. Still lamenting on howtiring the class was, rita noticed a young man beacoing on them to halt.

Stoping abruptly they impatiently gestured at him to hurry his paces He drew closer, exchanged pleasantries and began talking. Although they felt like leaving they couldn't they were simply spell bound, his words were so full of power, it perplexed them. They observed how smartly but casually this young man was dress. this obviously isnt a normal guy rita thought to herself. There was something about him that astoned them. It was quite incomprehensible. The way he talked: his eloquence, his poise: he talked with authority and graciousness which amazed and compeled them to listen attentively to him.

After talking for what seemed like 30minutes he concluded his sermon by admonishing them to give their lives to christ. As though waiting for those words to fall from his lips, they fell down on thier knees, not minding the facts that people were watching them.

With pain in their hearts and tears in their eyes they cried out loudly 'lord please have mercy on me', '" lord i don't want to live a purposeless life'. Repeatedly shouting with tears running down their cheeks, the young man picked their hands and prayed with them. Soberly and quietly, they gently walked to thier various hostel. Rita, after bidding farewell to her friends diverted towards her hostel. About three rooms from her room, she noticed a guy standing at her door, obviously talking to someone inside the room. An armreach closer to the room, the young man standing at the door turned towards her direction, smiled at her and greeted ' Hello, you must be Rita?'


Almost immediately she lost her ability to speak. Standing as still as a statue, she was completely mesmerized, unable to grasp the power of self control: her imagination ran wild. Almost immediately unimaginable thoughts floided her sub conscious mind and when he smiled, it was as though the earth was hit by a tsunami. The only thing on her mind this moment was how handsome he is, an emblem of perfection, the way he moved with swag and oh!!!!! What gallantly built body he had complemented by a set of sparkling white teeth. He surely must be the most handsome man onearth she thought to her self. Looking straight into his eyes, she was intimidated by his boistrious charm. Emotions gushed down her system, goosebumps allover her body. Its was as though she lost all sense of reasoning: as though she lost her memory.
