The governor of kogi state yayha Bello is reported to have tested positive for the corona virus
|
It would be recalled that after a handshake with the infected son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad in compliance with safety procedures has decided to go into self isolation for two weeks, cancelling all official engagements and submitted himself as a true leader to thorough medical evaluation and tests. DESERT HERALD can confirm that the result of Governor Bala’s blood sample that was taken to Abuja for the Coronavirus test is out and that the governor unfortunately has been found to be positive of the Coronavirus infection. Governor Bala who directly spoke to DESERT HERALD Publisher, Mallam Tukur Mamu has asked for prayers from all Nigerians and urged all citizens to follow the instructions of government regarding movement and large gatherings. He said the disease is real but is curable. He told DESERT HERALD that his government has put everything in place to ensure that Bauchi citizens are safe and pray to Allah to bring the deathly pandemic to an end world over. He emphasis that the best option for a country like Nigeria is to adopt the preventive measures since the entire health system cannot manage the kind of outbreak that we are seeing in China, Europe and America. Governor Bala told Mamu that he is now going to a special centre in Bauchi for treatment. In his response, Mallam Tukur Mamu has described Sen. Bala as a strong leader and said others with similar challenges may even opt not to disclose it and as a result many more will risk infection. He said the governor has demonstrated leadership by example and pray to Allah to grant him speedy recovery. He also called on all Nigerians to put Governor Bala in prayers as he and others overcome the sickness.

The FBI assigned a secret agent to infiltrate a mosque in southern California in 2013, with an intention of finding out if there were terrorists within the mosque. The man, Craig Monteilh, started attending services every weekend, getting to know many of the other attendees. He was welcomed and accepted by the community. While attending, he got a reputation for being very forgetful, leaving his keys and phone at the building. These everyday items actually had secret recording devices installed on them. Quite interestingly, and eventually, other attendees of the mosque reported him to the FBI out of concern that he might be a terrorist. He’d been discussing violent Jihad. (Source: 9th Circuit revives Muslims’ lawsuit charging FBI with spying at mosques. Dolan, Maura) The intention was to find out if any of the mosque members would liken to his ideas of terrorism. Somehow the FBI thought his words “We should blow up the infidels!” would be met with cheers of joy. But they found out the Muslims in attendance weren’t actually fans of terrorists either. It was a bit of a black eye for the FBI, and they are now contending with a lawsuit, and probably rightfully so. |

http://www.fancymam.com/tiktoks-u-s-navy-reportedly-bans-popular-social-app-over-security-issues/ TikTok may be the fastest-growing social network in the history of the internet, but it is also quickly becoming the fastest-growing security threat and thorn in the side of U.S. China hawks. The latest, according to a notice published by the U.S. Navy this past week and reported on by Reuters and the South China Morning Post, is that TikTok will no longer be allowed to be installed on service members’ devices, or they may face expulsion from the military service’s intranet. It’s just the latest example of the challenges facing the extremely popular app. Recently, Congress led by Missouri senator Josh Hawley demanded a national security review of TikTok and its Sequoia-backed parent company ByteDance, along with other tech companies that may share data with foreign governments like China. Concerns over the leaking of confidential communications recently led the U.S. government to demand the unwinding of the acquisition of gay social network app Grindr from its Chinese owner Beijing Kunlun. The intensity of criticism on both sides of the Pacific has made it increasingly challenging to manage tech companies across the divide. As I recently discussed here on TechCrunch, Shutterstock has actively made it harder and harder to find photos deemed controversial by the Chinese government on its stock photography platform, a play to avoid losing a critical source of revenue. What’s interesting here though is that companies on both sides are struggling with policy on both sides. Chinese companies like ByteDance are increasingly being targeted and stricken out of the U.S. market, while American companies have long struggled to get a foothold in the Middle Kingdom. That might be a more equal playing field than it has been in the past, but it is certainly a less free market than it could be. While the trade fight between China and the U.S. continues, the damage will continue to fall on companies that fail to draw within the lines set by policymakers in both countries. Whether any tech company can bridge that divide in the future unfortunately remains to be seen. |
http://www.fancymam.com/modern-age-tech-for-business-growth-in-2020/ People believe that bigger enterprises are too wary of tweaking their operations to accommodate new technology, small businesses are believed to not investing enough in its adoption. At the same time, another argument can be that modern tech is affordable for the big players and startups are run by new-age millennials who are tech-savvy enough to not oversee its advantages. Whatever is the case, one thing is for sure that technology is too important for businesses to ignore. So, if you are looking to expand your company in the coming years, here’s are the tech-trends that you should be aware of. 1. IoT (internet of a thing) The concept of IoT or Internet of Things is straight out of a sci-fi movie – Machines independently interacting with each other. And while the idea of IoT is “bigger than life”, it has already started taking shape. For instance, you can now control your home appliances with your smartphone. In the business world as well, IoT can be put to use for many advancements and growth 2. mLearning Time and again we have seen arguments surrounding employee training. Skipping ahead to the conclusion- training is vital for employees’ personal growth, as well as the business’s growth. For almost two decades, eLearning has been a part of training in Corporates and has evolved to accommodate the changing needs of employees. And the latest evolution in the field is mLearning or mobile learning. The concept here is simple – it offers a training course which is accessible through smartphones and Mobile Applications. However, the implications of this technology can be magnificent. 3. Chatbots/AI AI chatbots are taking the world by a storm in today’s age. For those unfamiliar, chatbots are the automated response systems that you may have encountered on many service-based mobile apps and a number or websites. But most of them can be said to be the most basic forms of chatbots. The more advanced versions, i.e., AI chatbots are still in their nascence and haven’t really gone mainstream for a majority of businesses. However, they hold strong capabilities for business growth in many ways. Conclusion The world is on the threshold of change and there are many technologies which can help one in achieving optimum growth for their business. The only way forward from here is to adapt and transform. |
A judge ordered Uber technologies inc’s operation in Colombia to suspend its ride-hailing business after a technology platform presented a lawsuit claiming the company was providing the service through unfair competition. This is contained in a report made by Bloomberg news. A judge at the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce, which regulates the market, ruled that Uber’s app violated competition norms, the regulator said Friday in a statement. Cotech SA, a taxi-service platform, filed the lawsuit against Uber. “This violates the rules that regulate the market, generates a significant advantage in the market, and generates deviation from the clientele of Cotech,” the regulator said in a separate statement. While the decision orders an “immediate” service suspension, the ride-hailing app can’t be forced to comply unless ordered to do so in a separate action, Andres Barreto, head of the superintendency, said. The U.S. company can still provide food-delivery service, Barreto added. “After years of working proactively to bring sensible regulations for ride sharing to Colombia, we regret that with today’s decision the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce has failed to follow Colombian law and its regular process,” an Uber spokesman said in a statement. The San Francisco-based company appealed the ruling. The decision is the latest in a series of setbacks for Uber’s global operations. Regulators in London, one of Uber’s largest markets, last month yanked its licence to operate after concluding it wasn’t “fit and proper” to continue as it risked passenger safety by failing to properly vet drivers. Uber continues to operate in London while regulators consider its appeal. Earlier this week, a German court ruled Uber had run afoul of its transit dispatch laws — a transgression Uber representatives said the company is working to fix while it continues to operate its service. Uber is less entrenched in Colombia, scrapping plans in October to build a $40 million support and services center in the country. The company said more than 2 million people use the service, which involves 88,000 drivers http://www.fancymam.com/uber-reportedly-ordered-by-judge-to-suspend-service-in-colombia/
