A grieving husband who slept next to his wife’s dead body in their bedroom for six days says he couldn’t bear to see her taken off to a mortuary in a body bag.

Leasing agent Russell Davison’s wife Wendy died at their home in Derby, England, after a 10-year battle with cervical cancer.
He said he was determined to keep her at home with their four children and not hand her over to a funeral director.
The dad now wants to reassure others that staying close to a loved one’s dead body is nothing to be scared of.

Russell said he washed and dressed Wendy’s body and placed it in a coffin – which he called a “cocoon” – in the couple’s bedroom.
And Russell insists it should be “the way we treat our dead,”– there is not, I can assure you.”

Wendy, 50, was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2006 – just after the couple’s joint 40th birthday – and was told three years ago she had six months to live.
But she shunned chemotherapy and radiotherapy and embraced “natural health,” Russell said.

The couple bought a caravan and traveled around Europe, but in September last year returned to Britain as Wendy’s pain became unbearable.

But she was determined to die at home and was nursed by Russell and the boys until her death on April 21.
Russell, also 50, said: “For a long time I have been determined to have Wendy at home when she died.
“I did not want her in the mortuary or handed over to a funeral director, I wanted us to take care of her ourselves at our family home, and have her in our bedroom so I could sleep in the same room.”
He said keeping Wendy at home was like “an emotional decompression chamber,” which helped the family come to terms with her death while she was still there.

A 26-year-old man has reportedly stabbed his 18-year-old girlfriend in a hotel room in Yenagoa.
The man took to his heels when the wailing of the victim attracted the attention of other guests in the guest house who came to her rescue.

The victim was identified as Faith Pius
The guest house is located at Biogbolo area of Yenagoa.
One of the guests told NAN that the suspect escaped when other guests and residents in the neighbourhood rushed to the scene.
The source, who pleaded anonymity, said the incident happened on Friday night.

NAN gathered that Ms. Pius was rushed to a private clinic where she was treated and the wounds stitched.
“But she developed complications on Saturday and she died on Sunday morning,’’ the source said.

The state police commissioner, Amba Asuquo, who confirmed the incident, said it was first considered as a case of assault occasioned by harm.
“Initially, it was treated purely as a case of assault occasioned by harm but now that the girl has died, we are now treating a case of murder against one suspect.
“We are in the process of ensuring that the suspect is arrested because after committing the crime he ran away.

“I know some people are associating it to ritual killing but we cannot conclude,” he said.
Youths of Biogbolo community took to the streets to protest the death of the girl from knife cuts allegedly inflicted on her by her lover boy.

It took the intervention of detachments of riot police officers to disperse the aggrieved youth.
The incident caused panic as residents ran in different directions while operators of business outfits closed shop and fled.
Stephen Pius, an elder brother of the victim, alleged that the suspect cut his younger sister twice each in her stomach and her heart region.

Popular Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke who delved into manufacturing business called Burgeon Global a few years back, is now plotting to expand into real estate business and services.

Jim Iyke took to his Intagram page, weekend, to announce his latest effort. “Men at work. Lustrous Dynamic Global Services; future horizons. Unveiling soon,”he wrote.

In another post, Jim Iyke uploaded a picture of himself and his workers with a caption; “This is what my team and I look like at the office. It’s not pretty but we get first class work done with first class results. We will announce the first of our many platforms on May 10.”

Recall that the controversial actor, a few years back delved into sachet water business, with its headquarters located in Abuja. Indeed, since he veered into business, fans of Jim Iyke have been missing him on the big screen.

The mysterious fire that gutted the palace of Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu has reportedly destroyed the traditional regalia.

It has been revealed that the traditional regalia of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, was reportedly destroyed in the fire that engulfed the palace on Tuesday afternoon.

Ibrahim Farinloye, the spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Authority, NEMA, while speaking said that the affected section of the palace where traditional regalia were kept was destroyed by fire.

He added that the mysterious fire was quickly nipped in the bud by the various emergency agencies on ground.
“The cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately. But it has been put off by the combined efforts of federal fire service and state fire service,” he said.

It is still not yet known what could have started the fire but many people have related it to the embarrassing incident, some days ago in which Akiolu had disgraced the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi at a public function.

Some said the gods are fighting on behalf of the Ooni because of the shame he suffered in the hands of the Oba.

After 24 years of marriage, the end has now come for the couple. An Ibadan Customary Court sitting on Mapo Hill dissolved the union on the grounds of abandonment by the estranged husband.The court’s President, Ademola Odunade, who dissolved the marriage between Fatimah and her husband, Abdulkareem Abulahmed, said the decision was taken in the “interest of peace and tranquility”.

Fatimah had told the court that her husband, Abdulkareem, was an unrepentant drunk, who had been raining curses on her and the children.

Odunade, however, awarded the custody of the last child of the marriage to Fatimah and directed Abdulkareem to pay a monthly feeding allowance of 5,000 Naira for the child.

The court also ordered Abdulkareem, who resides in Amunloko area of Ibadan, to take responsibility for the child’s school fees.

Abdulkareem was, however, not in court to defend himself after the third adjournment.

Reports reaching Daily Newz from Lagos has it that the palace of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu is currently on fire.

The monarch is said to have been taken to a safe place.

Officials of Lagos state fire service are within the palace trying to put out the inferno.

The real cause of the fire outbreak is still unknown at the moment.

The incident is coming barely one week after the Oba publicly shunned the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

There were claims by a certain Tunde Awoyeni that the palace would invoke the wrath of his ancestors on the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu.

Oba Ogunwusi in his reaction denied planning to curse Oba Akiolu.

After taking days off to rest, president Muhammadu Buhari has finally resumed work as he meets separately with his AGF and others.
Nigeria's president, Muhammadu Buhari is back on his desk at the presidential villa, Abuja, after he took some time off to rest., The Sun News reports.

He had a closed door meeting separately with the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, Abubkar Malami,‎ and the Group Managing Director, GMD of the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC), Maikanti Baru.‎

Malamii, ‎who is a member of ‎the Presidential committee investigating suspended Secretary to the Government of the General of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke ‎ headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has hinted that the final report will be submitted on Wednesday.

He disclosed this to State House correspondents while answering questions after the meeting with the President.‎

He however refused to speak on whether the committee would yield to the calls of not making the report public, saying “it will be preemptive”.

The committee’s 14 days deadline ends, on Wednesday

Big Brother Naija star, Tokunbo Idowu, popularly known as ‘Tboss’ has revealed plans to begin a career in acting as well as hosting a radio show which she hopes to develop into television.''

According to her, she is currently gathering content for the show, attending a couple of auditions and she has received a lot of scripts which she has been screening.

The former BBN housemate said this on Channels Television, while sharing her experience in the house as well as outside the house, since the show came to an end.

“I am overwhelmed, completely overwhelmed.” According to her, there has been so much love and she would rather focus on the love, rather than on any form of hate.

Reacting to the issue of an alleged sexual harassment by Kemen, a former housemate who was later disqualified from the show following the incident, TBoss expressed utter disappointment, adding that the decision by Big Brother was the best option.

“I considered Kemen a friend. He was my go-to guy and my buddy, he encouraged me, he motivated me and he pushed me to mingle more with people especially at times when I didn’t feel like I fit in. So, for what happened to have happened, and just knowing all the people that look up to me, it was sad.''

“I was angry, humiliated and I did feel violated but, I don’t play the victim card and I honestly feel that the decision that Big Brother took, was the only Decision that could have been taken.”

The ‘See Gobe’ edition second runner up, who was asleep in the same bed with Kemen, when the said assault occurred, stated that she was unaware of any such thing until Big Brother called her attention to it the following day hence; she did not assent to it and whatever happened was not mutual, as initially suggested by Kemen.

The former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has responded to the allegation levelled against him by the Minister of Transportion, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, over a two billion naira transferred by the former governor of Rivers state, Dr. Peter Odili to the Ministry of Aviation to fix Port-Harcourt runway.

He made this known in a chat on ChannelsTV on Saturday. According to him, ” This is an absurd allegation, first and foremost I wasn’t given any money by the Rivers state government, it was my predecessor in the office that was given a loan by the Rivers state government and the money was not paid to Aviation, it was paid to FAAN.

“It was a loan from the Rivers state government to FAAN as I understand it, the amount was two billion naira.

Countering Kayode stressed that “Professor Borisade was the minister then not me and the money wasn’t paid to the ministry it was paid to FAAN’s account and that is number one,. Buttressing his facts he said, ” Secondly when the money was paid to FAAN, FAAN spent about three hundred and fifty million naira out of it before I even became a Minister, that is Borisade authorized that expenditure on the Port Harcourt runaway.

“However, by the time I got into office there was 1.6b naira of that money left in the FAAN account, they told me about it and what did we do with the money. Femi Kayode talking about the judicious use of the money said “We gave Julius Berger and they are still alive, 1.5b naira out of that money its in my record, we paid them the money and they did the work, that was fifty percent payment option for the airport runaway.

Stating his facts in confidence, Femi Kayode said “The airport runaway was completed before we left office, it was commissioned about a month after we left office by Diaziani Alison Madueke, my successor and we left a hundred and thirty two million naira in the FAAN account for my successor who was then Diaziani, the records are there.

However, point at Amaechi’s allegations that there was no evident of payment made to the ministry of Aviation, Kayode said, ” Its quite possible that he hasn’t accepted or recognize the fact that no money was paid to the ministry by Rivers state government, Dr. Odili is still alive, they should ask him, the money was paid to FAAN, When asked if it was among the allegations he faced with the EFCC, he said, “Every aspect of my tenure in office, through out the time when we left that is about a year or two before I was prosecuted for seven years this was investigated not just by EFCC, if you remember there was a public hearing by the senate and I have to come up with all the facts and figures, my predecessoring officer was there, my successoring officer, everybody was there, and we all accounted for everything we did .

Furthering his statement he said “Every penny I was given as the Minister of Aviation, I was given eleven billion naira for various projects I spent 3.8b naira and I accounted for every penny and I left 7.2b naira in the ministry’s account from the intervention fund for my successor in office.

Soaked with questions from the presenter over the controversy of 7.2b naira then Kayode said ” It was controversial then because of the kind of absurd allegations people like Rotimi Amaechi labels me and at the end of the day there was absolutely nothing. “If you remember all charges against me from the intervention fund was thrown out, I wasn’t prosecuted for anything to do with the Aviation.

“What they prosecuted me for, we went in for seven years I was eventually acquainted, it has nothing to do with the Aviation, he said. Fani-Kayode equally said that he is going to sue Rotimi Amaechi for denigrating his personality and bringing his integrity to doubt. According to him, “I am going to sue him, what he has said made no sense it is nonsensical, it is reflecting his diseased mind like I said earlier and am waiting for him, he will hear from my lawyers as early as Tuesday next week, he finally said.
