Normally Israel will have their civilians under bomb shelters. And I somehow suspect that they provide more layers of protection over civilian infrastructures. It's not as if their civilians don't get targeted as well. You've seen pictures of missiles hitting city centers and homes, it's not child's play. This is everything being fair in war.

Not sure they informed USA, I think it’s more of USA knew Iran will strike Israeli bases as retaliation because Iran have done it before and Iran intel is not one of the best in the world.

The fact that Iran did not announced it and they did not use drones, which made it hard to Jordan, USA and UK to protect Isreali airspace.

USA intel through their early warning systems are always watching over Iran and can detect preparations for attack unlike when Russia launched attacks.
Russia has the ability to disrupt the GPS system making it impossible sometimes for Ukrainian military.
