The major reason for AK 47s adaption by most countries is because of its ability to balance efficiency, versatility etc without much tradeoffs. Also, the need for less maintenance compared to its counterparts plays a major role.

Instead of neo colonialism, Africa needs to think towards neo politics, carving a system of governance that suits us. It's clear this presidential style of governance is not the best. Our democracy has matured enough, for us to fashion an indigenous system that really works. A system that trickles down the dividends of our rich land and system, down to every member of our nation. We have thinkers, am ready to work with politically minded people, so we can create a solution for this great challenge of nation. The present system is not the best, no check and balance, no fear in the mind of public office holders, they loot with impunity. If we add some traditional elements, people will be more wary. For instance someone said if Nigerian political servants across board are made to swear oath in their cultural deities, that the governors and public representatives will be less prone to embezzle funds...this is just one way of indigenizing our democratic system of governance.

The need for new political school of thought? Yes but I disagree with the inclusion of cultural deities as part of oath of office. The consequence of corruption should be swift and brutal and this can only be achieved by having strong judiciary and law enforcement institutions.

The problem with us is that we are too scared to attempt changing the status quo. The masses are like sheep they accept everything you do to them. This is the direct opposite of how the citizens of western countries act. They understand the concept of power in numbers.


I think we are stuck in this "democracy" and the best we can do is to improve it. Also, I think it might be too late to find our own political school of thought because.
1. The structure of the country
2. The trend in the international community: most countries have moved past this stage. Most western countries did theirs over a century ago.
