Fashion / West African Beauty Secrets by fashionengineer(f): 6:34pm On Nov 12, 2016
Africa’s ancient beauty secrets are finally coming into the fore. Even though the continent produces some of the world’s most beneficial & unrivaled organic and natural ingredients for natural skin and hair care, its own ancient tribal traditions have been largely ignored. Until now.

Ghana And Nigeria

The most well known beauty secret from West Africa is the popular Shea Butter used increasingly in organic and natural skincare. Shea butter originates from the Karite Nut tree, also called the Mangifolia tree, found in the semi-arid savannahs of West and Central Africa. The women of West Africa have been using shea butter for centuries. The Karite Nut tree, which can live for 300 years, is often dubbed the “tree of life” by African women who make this precious butter by hand. Almost all parts of the tree have some practical use. The bark is an ingredient in traditional medicines against certain childhood illnesses and minor scrapes and cuts. The shell of the nuts can repel mosquitoes. Above all, because it is completely non-toxic and gentle, the fruity part of the nut, when crushed, yields a vegetable oil that can be used in soap-making, cooking, and skin and hair care.

The process of making shea butter, or karite, is long and arduous for the women of Africa. They awake early and trek up to 15 km (9 mi) to collect the fruits of the Karite Nut tree. With up to 40 kg (88 lbs) of fruits upon their heads, the women and children head back to the village to begin the process of extracting the butter from the kernel of the fruit. The pits are first removed from the fruit, boiled, sun-dried and finally roasted. When the pits have been completely dehydrated, they are handcrushed. This laborious work takes an average of 20 hours to produce 1 kg (2.2 lbs) of shea butter. Shea butter is now becoming one of the best selling and highly recommended skin care products around.

A trip to specialist beauty shops provides all the evidence that karite has become a beauty must-have, with shelves fully stocked with a range of hair, face and body products containing shea oil or shea butter. Because of its softening, anti-drying and protective effects, shea butter is a choice ingredient in soap, shampoos, lip balms, sun care products, hand creams, body massage products and anti-wrinkle creams. Shea butter is one of nature’s greatest moisturizers and has a vast number of proven healing properties. Because of its amazing properties, shea butter is an excellent ingredient for soaps, lotions and creams. The high level of vegetable fats found in shea butter contribute to its ability to heal burns and wounds and to promote cell regeneration and capillary circulation. It is commonly used in the treatment of eczema, rashes and severely dry skin.

This all-natural product also contains cinnamic acid, which provides natural protection against the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays. The daily use of shea butter on the body and face reduces sun exposure, which can delay the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and help prevent skin cancer. It also acts as a natural barrier against the elements of cigarette smoke, and harmful chemical pollutants and smog in the atmosphere. While Western women discover the endless beautifying qualities of shea butter, the women of Ghana, Mali, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and elsewhere who make this product by hand, also benefit. Unrefined shea butter is a valuable natural resource for Africa, and its harvest is strengthening and building women’s economic security in the region.

Each year approximately 100,000 tons of shea butter and shea oil are exported from these African nations. By purchasing shea butter products, the lives of entire rural communities in West Africa are improved with better housing, medical care, food and fresh water. Most importantly, this extra income allows African women to give their children, particularly their daughters, the chance to go to school.

Fashion / How I Keep My Tummy Flat On A Nigerian Diet by fashionengineer(f): 9:08am On Feb 13, 2016
http://www.thefashionengineer.com/2015/10/27/how-i-keep-my-tummy-flat-on-a-nigerian-diet/

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Isn’t it annoying whenever you look up diet tips, there’s like all of this oyinbo food that you don’t even eat anyway? Well don’t worry, I’m going to keep it 100% real with you all, like yeah I’m Nigerian-American, but in my house growing up, it was strictly Nigeria. I cook Nigerian food probably like 90% of the time, and when I’m on the go I will pick up a hamburger or something if I have a lot of programming work to do and I don’t have the time to cook. Okay so I’m going to share with you all some diet tricks and tips that I use to get my stomach flat, because Nigerian food is nice, but sometimes it can be extremely fattening, and it SHOWS!

Why are you putting all of that oil in your stew
Stop it. Just calm down. Take a step back and ask yourself if you really need ALL of that oil in there. It may take some time to get used to cooking with less oil, but if you start by cutting down an eighth every time, you’ll slowly get used to it. Also, if you can try cooking your soup/stew with extra virgin olive oil, even better if it is LIGHT extra virgin olive oil.

Indomie Does Not Count As Nigerian Food
Like for real ladies, stop playing. Stop being lazy. If you can cook it that fast, you can gain the fat even faster. Have you ever looked at the nutritional values on the back of a package of Indomie? Research has even shown that the consumption of too many instant noodles leads to heart attacks/ heart disease. Not only does Indomie cause belly fat, but TOO many instant noodles could be detrimental to your health. Just cool it on the Indomie. Just don’t even buy it. I only allow myself to eat one pack of Indomie a month. It’s just not worth it to me.

Don’t attack me please.. But leave that iyan alone. You have to!
I know a lot of you all love your iyan. I love my iyan too. I promise. But it’s like extremely fattening. You would gag if you knew how many calories were in one cup. Another high calorie food is semolina, which doesn’t really mean much to me, because I don’t care for the taste of semo to be honest. Sorry for all you ladies that do (610 calories a cup! Chai! but that’s still better than iyan!)…And this is why eba will always be BAE. Forever and a day! 110 calories per cup. Does it get any better than that? Don’t judge me, but I eat a lot of eba, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. You don’t have to eat eba, but if you want to eat other foods, just be aware of the calorie intake, and eat in moderation.

If you can, eat brown rice and leave that white rice alone
Brown rice actually has about 15 more calories per serving than white rice, but here’s the thing, brown rice is A LOT LESS PROCESSED THAN WHITE RICE. What this means is that brown rice is going to breakdown properly in your system and go through all of the steps of your digestive system, leaving you with less of a glucose level spark. What does that mean? That means you will feel a lot FULLER after you eat brown rice, than when you eat white rice. And that will lead to less snacking. Less snacking? That’s good!

Egusi Is Bae..Forever
Egusi has one of the fats that your body actually needs! It is rich in Omega 3’s! This not only helps you lose weight, but it helps your hair grow stronger and faster! So make that egusi soup, but like all things, that doesn’t mean you should overdo it!

Health / How Oolong Tea Helped Me Lose Weight by fashionengineer(f): 8:55am On Feb 13, 2016
I discovered Oolong tea when my friend brought some from china, I did my research and I discovered it had so many benefits including weight loss! I call it “lazy tea” because it blocks the absorption of carbohydrates and fats.
more info at http://www.thefashionengineer.com/health-and-fitness/

You know how green tea has so many benefits, well -oolong tea is better!

Oolong tea is also made from the buds, leaves and stems of Cemellia Sinensis just like green tea, The difference lies in the processing. While green tea is not fermented, Oolong tea is partially fermented.

Green tea, after being picked and plucked undergoes heating. This tends to halt the oxidation of the leaf. After they get dried, they are rolled intentionally to break down the cell structure. On the other hand, oolong tea after being plucked is kept under controlled conditions. They are allowed to oxidize. They are not broken and so the cell structure stays intact.

It is a proven fact that oolong tea can burn up to 157% more fat in comparison to green tea. Just drinking two cups of oolong tea a day will help you shed those stubborn extra pounds by blocking the negative effects of carbohydrates and boosting your metabolism.

One of my friend called me yesterday that he will be taking one his new babe to my house. I asked him if it was just an ordinary visit, he said no that it was not an ordinary visit, that he intend sleeping with her. he said he needs some privacy in my house for at least 5hours, that he will come to collect my house key. I asked him why he wants to use my house since he has a well funished house? He told me that he doesn't want his real babe to walk into them accidentally in his house, that he needs a place like my my house where his real babe don't easily visits. He said he was afraid that he may gets caught by his real babe cheating. I then told him that my house is not available that he should go and book a hotel instead, that i don't allow such thing in my house. I told him that i'm very sorry that it can't be possible. He then cut the call. I guess he was angry for my refusal to grant his request. i have been trying to reach him on phone since but to no avail. I would try to go and see him later. Please is what i did wrong? Should i have left my house for him and his babe to do such thing?
